aridyne: how much power should  u put out with that high flow? and how much would that be costing you?

Well as it is in Sydney right now getting done I won't know until I get the car back, so I am looking at Friday/Sat Morning to find out.. I definately want the car back by Saturday noon as I am cruising down the coast for a bit of schoolies week site seeing :D and maybe a bit of freeway action .. :)

i tossed up between the GT-RS and 2835proS and ended up going the 2835ProS

While they are rated only 20ps apart, (GTRS 400ps vs 2835Pro 420ps) When you see the two turbos side by side, the GTRS is notably smaller everywhere! This is probably in part due to new technology, but from the looks of them the GTRS might not go as well once you start flowing big amounts of air up the top of the rev range?

So far ive only seen GTRS results up to 1bar on a RB25, anyone got results at 1.2bar?

What sort of power was the GTRS pushing at 1bar on the RB25?

That's the wastegate actuator hose. It provides the actuator pod with boost pressure which opens the wastegate....why would it not last long?

As with the hi-flow...and I speak from experience...The HKS is going to be more reliable whereas the hiflow is maxing out and will need to be rebuilt after 12 -18 months. This is just a simple fact. The hi-flows don't last as long unless you start fitting oil coolers and run low boost most of the time. I ran 17psi through my 32 hi-flow and got 220rwkw on standard injectors, standard ecu. The turbo is unreliable though at that pressure. Don't get me wrong though, you get a lot more bang for your buck...but it's worth the investment for the more reliable turbo...coz at the end of the day...the turbo will self destruct before you know it has done so and you won't be prepared for the bill.

Another option is to run a nitrous anti lag system and just put the biggest friggin turbo on it that you possibly can...yeah, do that.

Surely that statement is misleading. :confused:

Hi-flow means so many different things. If it was a plain 270deg bearing turbo then id tend to agree. If it is a plain bearing turbo with 360deg thrust bearing then id expect it to handle 1.2bar without any probs (your oil cooler call makes sense as oil quality / pressure / temp is imprtant). But if its a hi-flow using a ball bearing cartridge, why would a hi-flow be any less reliable then any off the shelf Garret/HKS/IHI (ie ball bearing) turbo?

    • So, this shouldn't be such a mission, but there were a few tricks so I thought I'd post up a DIY for it. This was on a Q50 Red Sport but I doubt any other V37 model is very different (maybe just less steps for the intake heat exchanger hoses) I pulled the radiator out to flush it because the car was running hot at the track, but obviously the same steps apply for changing a radiator for any reason including an upgrade. If you are removing the radiator, you of course need to drain and refill, so have 5+ litres of blue coolant ready. You don't need to drain the intake heat exchanger to remove the radiator but depending on your plans you may need a couple of litres for that as well. You will also need something to deal with the auto transmission lines, I used 2x 8mm rubber caps on the radiator side, and a short length of 8mm pipe on the car side.....unless you can block these lines quickly you will loose AT fluid and it may be enough to hurt the transmission if you don't refill it. Other than that....lets go... "First, jack up your car". Yes really, and put it safely on stands. If you are not confident doing that you need to give this job to a mechanic

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
