Hi all

I am considering buying an R34 as they seem reasonably priced at the moment and a good selection of them over here (even if most seem to be in NSW).

I am not really sure which engine to go for so jsut wondering if some people with R34's can give me opinons and if possible any tips for buying said specced car.

Thanks in advance guys and girls. :(

Unless you wanna spend upwards of $80k on the GTR with the RB26DETT, GTT with the good ol RB25DET is the way to go.

Last year i own an R34 GTT (LOOK) but this year i own an R33 GTR (Performance and handling) and NEXT year i am after R34 GTR (Performance + Handling + Look) or 350Z (Look + LOOK and Handling). That y i have my GTR for sale and will never look for GTT again.

So my conclusion is if you own an RB26DETT with Altesa before you will never look back for RB25DET. Go for GTT is you want the look else RB26DETT is the way to go..

Also if you are serious of getting an R34 GTT, why not consider S15...

calvintys - thanks for the reply mate. They are good points. I had a look at the S15 and they look good with some of the Japanese kits on but my girlfriend isnt really a fan! She prefers the Skyline which is fine with me!

I am selling the cossie reluctantly but have been weighing up the Skyline (personal favourite), FTO and WRX. We already have a Subaru so probably avoid that one. I like the R33 but prefer the lines of the R34 and they seem to be well priced at the moment.

riggap and KamikazeR33 thanks also for the replies. It seems a GTT is the way to go as I dont have the $80K upwards to spend.

Cheers for all the replies guys

Anymore for anymore?

mate if you're in no hurry (as in mid/late jan) to decide, i can bring my GT-T around then, and you can have a squizz, bit of a drive, see what you think? Altho i'd imagine you'd probably decide on something before then. Anyways, would be nice to see another 34 down our way..

cheers.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I need one ASAP really once the cossie is sold. I do IT work and have to get to clients and my car on an unregistered permit isnt really on!

Would still be awesome to see yours SS8_Gohan and Snowman I may take you up on the offer!

I will do a search of the ACT forum in a bit and see what I can dig up. Not desperatly after a drive or anything but just to see some R34's in the flesh would be good.

Cheers all for the help and any other suggestions comments are welcomed

Have been looking at Supras but really want a car 97 onwards and there dont seem to be too many of them.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
