G'day all.

I got my car retuned yesterday at ICE performance in Cheltenham, Melbourne, and after 7 runs on the dyno we took her up to 255.6rwkw which is slightly more than last time. The fuel map was clean up a little and reduced the ingnition timing by 1 degree just to counteract some detonation i was getting... With the current tune the car feels alot stronger, especialy off the bottom.

Yesterday was quite warm in melbourne (35degrees) and i had the car tuned at 10:30am just so we could beat the heat. Nigel from Ice told me just to keep and eye on it for the first couple of runs on a cold night just incase the car reacts alot more than expected because of the tuning specs.

Very happy with the result!!

im running 1 bar boost

specs as follows

RB25DET (Serviced Every 5000km with Castrol Formula R Synthetic 10W60)

HKS Air Filter

Custom 3" Exhaust Cat-Back

Race Pace 3" High Flow Cat

Just Jap 3" Dump/Front Pipe

HKS GT2535 Turbo

HKS Front Mount Intercooler 600x300x75

RacePace Boost controller 14psi

HKS Actuator

GTR Fuel Pump

and tuned by Race Pace and ICE performance

Nigel from ICE also commented on how nice and tight this engine feels for a stock engine. He was very impressed

Surely u have some sort of aftermarket management?

Any nice power, exactly what i'm chasing. I've got everything u have except the turbo and boost....so cant wait.

How does the car respond with that turbo...on how many psi? Laggy?

My car runs 1 bar boost which is 14.7 psi

It has a Apexi power FC with hand controller. 2535 turbo isnt too laggy... goes like stink though.. If i drop it back into 3rd gear at 90kmh-100kmh there wouldnt be much on the road that could catch me....

Not that i speed though ;-)

Just came back from a run in the cold air to see how she would go... I will have to through her back on the dyno... she pulled 72 knock at 5500rpm which it never did before prior to the tune. Nigel said that i should keep an eye on it the first time out because we did tune it in rather warm tempretures so it was to be expected.

72 Knock at 5500rpm you say ?? are you sure that it was not a knock from backing off ? those knock sensors are pretty sensitive.. I sometimes get knock that high when i back off the throttle...

Does it do it while accelerating or right when u back off? how many times has it done it ?

What injectors are you running and what fuel regulator and what injector duty are you running ?

You wouldnt have the time to write up 2 excel spread sheets with your ignition and fuel maps? would interesting to compare them with my RB30DET maps

Shouldn't you get less knock with lower temperatures?

Do you have aftermarket injectors?

Don't think so....

The colder it is, the more dense the oxygen is in the air, which means more oxygen gets pushed into the cylinders with the same amount of fuel...

more oxygen, to same amount of fuel = knock?

Yes the colder it is, the more dense it is, but the AFM also measures this increase in density (ie flow) so more fuel is injected to compensate.

The real reason is that hot intake temperatures make the mixture more detonation prone due to the air/fuel mix unable to remain stable and hence brings on detonation.

95% arrgh, install an adjustable fuel pressure reg- up the pressure slightly and bring the duty cycle back under 90%.

5500rpm is where peak torque is made, If you find it knocks more so in 4th and more again in 5th- definately upgrade the fuel system.

Or sell it to me for a good price and i'll do it =)

Its for Sale

Good to see another HKS 2535 equipped RB25 making 250rwkw+. Join the club :)

It's a great turbo. I have similar mods but was running higher injector duty at lower boost  My bosche 910 pump is supposedly rated higher than the GTR pump in terms of flow, plus i have an adjustable fuel reg so i'm a little perplexed. Good on you though on a great result. Anyone looking for a bloody fast street car, this would be good buying!

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
