Point to Point Radar

Hey do we have these on the coast? I just got pulled over by a cop and he said I was caught speeding by a point to point radar, and he basically said that the evidence will be reviewed and I will be informed.

If this is true I am DEAD no licence what so ever because of the speed I was going.

Just spoke to my cousin whos freind is a cop and spoke to her and she was on duty at the moment, Its some new gadget shit it was entering the highway on the coast i will be summond to court and lose my licence in speeds excess of 175.

Oh well shouldnt have been speeding

Yes the new point to point can get you from up to 1km away....

Its not affected by curves on the body of a car and heat waves do not affect it either... Very accurate and effective way to detect speed in a second or so.... Do not have to track a car for 30 metres or more to get the reading either... 1 seconds contact is enough.... I think ill have to get back to the lab to develop the invisibality device (James Bond style)..... Switch activated of course.... Cars here, now its not......

Just dont park in a car park with it turned on.... It would get smashed up good.....

This sounds quite interesting...

I am curious to know how they will claim that you are speeding.

ie. with previous stuff you would have a photo with a read out of the speed limit, and the

speed you were doing.

Will they send you a series of formula's and calculations? E=MC^2= speeding skyline.

That aside, I hope that you do get your license suspended. You not only endanger yourself

and others by doing speeds in excess of 175km/hr, but you give the rest of us bad names.

Your 19, P-Plater? Import? Turbo? Speeding? anybody see this on Today Tonight?? (gee i wonder)

Oh well shouldnt have been speeding

You said it yourself.

yeah.. if it was 1km away.. you could claim he was just locking onto somebody else..

and unless there was proof in evidence? And by the time he has caught up you are pretty much going to go "what are you talking about". It won't take long before its challenged in court - seems prone to error. I am sure nothing can be that accurate with just getting a 1 second reading.

It happens in VIC where a cop can just claim that sitting behind you with their perfectly calibrated speedo that you were speeding.. but its been proven that this is prone to error. A couple of VIC members challenged this in court and got reduced sentences. In a way in does really come down to your word against theirs and a good lawyer.

Although theoretically if you were in front of a large truck then he is not going to be sitting behind you is he... and they still have to ..

anyhow.. lol

To determine the speed of individual vehicles it would require the kind of radar/phased array technology in a modern fighter jet/attack helo/AWACS and be able to display each vehicle and discriminate clearly. Even then these mega buck systems are able to be fooled by environmental anomolies.

Anyway, I'm not going to help you get out of this. Wear it. That speed is stupid. Come to a bloody race track.

hey can a cop holding a radar on the side of the road pick you up speeding then just write down your plates and send you a fine or do they have to pull you over to fine you?

does this apply with this new point to point radar thing aswell?

Although I don't condone doing 175kph on a public road, under any circumstances, if you wanted to choose the safest public area to do it in, Smith St to Helensvale is it...

1 northbound emergency lane, 4-5 northbound traffic lanes, another northbound emergency lane, 2 lane wide median with those bendy cable barriers, southbound emergency lane, 4-5 southbound traffic lanes, and another southbound emergency lane... Dead flat, dead straight... a total of 1 entry and exit northbound, and the same for southbound... Basically a 110kph limited airstrip...

If you get caught doing 175 on a public road, then your going to go down, so be it... No complaints from me... It's when the cops start booking people for 125kph on the same stretch of road that I start to fume...

Just saw this thing on a cop car... anyone know what it is? sorry for the crap quality... i took it with my phone...

the thing im talking about is the white lump on the boot.... also to note I saw this same car pull someone over... i'd say it was for speeding cause he over took us on the left, must not had seen the cop car, but I was right on the limit, he was probably 20 over..... the cop waited about 30 seconds, then the bacon lights came on and sped up... I stopped at maccas to get a feed... after going thru the drive thru i drove past the cop writing the dude a ticket....

also to note, there was no sidewinder on the cop car.... only visible thing was this lump on the boot!

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
