Anyone have one or know where I can buy at a good price?

I am getting quotes & waiting for replies from several different import part suppliers.

Thanks

Dale

Erik, want to start a Group Buy? See if we can find other ppl interested and I will see what I can do.

I have emailed MSI Racing 4-5 times and it just keeps bouncing back - their email address [[email protected]] is dead! I sent them a Fax yesterday, no reply yet. It seems a bit dodgy that they don't list a phone number on their website contact details page.

I am waiting for replies from 2-3 other companies at the moment and will let you know when I hear something

666DAN - I am not sure how easy it will fit but I would be keen to sell you mine when I get some nismo ones! I don't think the nismo ones come with the gauge housing - they just look like replacement gauges/inserts] [as seen in the first pic]. I got that same price for Greenline a couple of days ago and am waiting on a response from them, hopefully they can do cheaper for several.

GTTR34 - You can probably still use the blue caps/globes but I don't know how it will show up the yellow colourings??? Or keep both gauges, one for weekdays and one for weekends OR one for Chapel st and one for Circuits

Problem is I know MSI Racing have them listed for $200, but I don't know if they're in still in business? Any ideas Dan? I also know somebody who bought 1 of these from MSI - it was even less than $200!

Their email bounces and no phone number, tried faxing - no reply yet either!

Found a contact number for MSI, spoke to a guy there [James]. They don't do parts anymore but they have forwarded my contact details on to someone who used to sell the parts through MSI. Fingers crossed

NismoR34 - Thanks for that, yeah I was just going to mount the gauges somewhere without the housing, so just the faces showing...maybe under the headeck or something.

HKS34R: I will remove my centre cluster tonight and take a pic of what it looks like underneath...

From memory, its held in by a clip at the back and 3 screws at the front - behind the air vents / hazard switch.

I am almost 100% certain that it will look different compared to the "TV/Navi" & the "nothing-in-the-centre" setups.

Yeah I want a combo meter too  I also have pricing for the cluster and combo from Greenline

Hi Adam,

[/size]

Hope you are well. Pricing information as requested:

NISMO Combination Meter R34 GTT Manual: 46,200 yen

NISMO Sub Meter R34 GTT: 25,872 yen

Shipping: 6,200 yen

TOTAL: 78,272 yen AU$1004

Alright, it depends on the price as well.

If the price is good, I'll go with the group buy Nismor34 and for anyone who is interested with standard 3 gauge meters from gtt, I'll sell if I get the nismo meters.

Yeah I like MSI price hopefully it's around that

Updated the first post with the people who are interested, I also received a reply from Greenline for just the Centre Cluster / Sub Meter. Their current quote for 1 item is $374 delivered. I have replied back and requested bulk pricing / discount, will see what happens. They have already said they cannot match MSI's price for 1 item though.

Haven't heard from MSI contact yet, I will call again at lunchtime and try and find this guy, he will be the cheapest I am sure - as long as I can get hold of him!

I'm also waiting on a response from Nengun...haven't heard anything yet.

Lastly I have a couple of other contacts / suppliers I will follow up today!

Cheers guys.

Dale, changed my mind.. you can take me off the list. The nismo gauges are not really much different to the standard GTT gauges. I'd rather spend the money on other mods. Thanks.

    • Wow ELVIS. You have an....interesting approach to conversation. Did you not notice that I wasn't talking to you?
    • Hello Liam - HA - somewhere in flies - possibly I have an update, but I have been so busy, projects have taken a back seat to getting business back on track.  I will let you know the outcome, but I think I am going to go for the 8HP,  CHEERS.  ELVIS
    • Thanks Joshuaho96, yes - as someone else also suggested, the 8HP seems the 'smart choice' - HA - and ZERO to do with cost, but I am sure 8 speeds will be better than 6 speeds - HA - maybe.  I will purchase a new 8HP,  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Nobody said anything about getting a "...cheap Falcon box..."- it was JUST a question about a specific transmission.  And YOU may have a problem with not enough $ - HA - I do NOT - so please keep your comments like you are some financial guru to yourself.  BUT - much appreciated re the cost of a new 8HP and I twill probably be the way I go.  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Most people I know in the BMW world are swapping 6HPs for 8HPs. The 6HP has a big issue with one of the clutch drum bushings wearing out shockingly early which leads to them going into limp mode going into 5th/6th gear as the oil pressure loss from the worn bushing causes clutch slip. Even with the adaptations in shifting the TCU can't bump line pressure enough to keep the clutches from slipping and burning. I've personally looked at a 335d with 6HP28 with one owner and ~90k miles on it and the transmission adaptations were way out of spec and even though it nominally drove ok I'm confident it would have needed a full rebuild sooner than later. Other than that they're fine, but the 8HP doesn't really have weird issues like this to my knowledge and they're in everything these days so pulling them out of crashed cars isn't too hard.
