OK guys, sorry we have not responded sooner. I wanted to talk to more of the execs from SAU NSW but have not been able to get in contact.

First, some background....when SAU NSW was set up the committee were very aware of the fact they could be held legally liable for incidents that happened on events. To make sure we would always be insured we got CAMS affiliation for the club as it gives us access to their insurance.

The CAMS insurance provides public liability insurance for the club and committee, as long as we follow the rules we are covered. The rules for a cruise permit are as follows:

* Need to apply for permit with nominal fee, and all docs including Supp Regs 8 weeks before the event.

* Every Car must have a club member in it.

* Various requirements on the day like entry forms, fees and disclaimers.

* Event report and results (if any) after the event.

* Some types of permits also require fully trained officials (eg Clerk of Course, Stewards etc)

We use the CAMS insurance for pretty much all our events including social except track hire where we use the track's insurance eg wakefield or WSID.

So.....unfortunately we have 0 chance of running and insuring the cruise for this weekend as you can see.

On the other hand, with more notice I'm sure we could work together to do something like this in the future, it is possible to organise things formally we just need plenty of assistance to bring it all together.

CammaS15, all the best with whatever you choose to do for this event. It is a great idea and a great opportunity to help out. Let me know if you want to organise something in the future.

That is for a CAMS event, under the CAMS insurance.  SAU should also hold public liability insurance for the non-CAMS events.

We only have insurance through our affiliation with CAMS unfortunately...that includes social cruises like this. And I think they require about 8 weeks in advance??

*edit- Duncan just beat me to it!!*

Just on the topic of this cruise, please remember that this is all in aid of the Tsunami victims. Alot has been mentioned about money to be donated, and the authorities, and who's car isn't quite right to go,andwho c.b.f. attending,or who will be killer hungover from the night before....when it all comes down to it,there's 275,000 people dead at last count. There are people sleeping next to dead relatives and loved ones under corrugated iron. The water is like sewage in some places:and that's all they've got to drink. It could be years before they get back to some normality in their lives. Imagine 9/10ths of Canberra's ENTIRE population dead, and you're getting close. So,I say $10 or more each is a very worthwhile investment from a bunch of people that are out on a Sunday enjoying their vehicles. Makes the little things that p**s us off every day seem pretty minor, huh? I don't want to preach-I'm a non-believer,anyway-but for those that are in two minds about coming alongull your finger out and make the effort:at least you've got the option...

Im ALL the way with you jayce.... IM there!! whether we go for this massive cruise, or we just chill down at the park for a bbq. im there with my donation.

I hope the rest of you think the same... Everyone has there opinion, but hey like jayce said... "at least you've got the option"

So, now that the word is out that the cruise is cancelled, but we all still show up, does this mean cammas15 doesn't have the responsibility of the group anymore and there's nothing to stop us all showing up at one place at one time, almost like a coincidence?

As long as no one gets into strife over it, i'm still keen to show and donate to this worthy cause, beaurocracy can stick in my opinion

Thanks for bringing this up with the SAU Execs Duncan, much appreciated. I am exploring another avenue as we speak so hopefully I can get this up and running. Its looking doubtfull at the moment but I will be trying everything I can. As I stated in a previous post, without the support of SAU's members this wouldnt have got to this stage.

Update to be provided later on today...

I'm on that bandwagon. I've booked a place to stay and am making the trip, even if 10 people are there, and we all give what we can, then have a bbq, its all worthwhile.

Anyone keen to meet up in Bradon Saturday night????

Will be on 104.7 shortly. At this stage the cruise is still going ahead. I have registered the Valvebounce Motorsport and Performance Association and once the documentation has been officially been registered by the Registrars Office I will be contacting the insurance company for Public Liability Insurance. Once thats done I will be contacting the NCA for final approval.

No promises yet but we are trying all we can.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
