ive never driven a R33 but it does seem it has more torque at the start than a R32. however once the R32 hits 3revs and over it lets u know its a skyline!!! :D

same would apply for a R33... but in a straight line launch you wouldn't start from below 3,000rpm

R33's are faster.. have more room, and are more modern.

R32's are more compact, feel more sporty, and have more direct and better handling

I've owned both, and the R32 already feels much better. With an RB25 engine, it would clearly be the fastest and better handling car.

I have both an R33 & R32 sedan with FMIC,3" from turbo, T/s plumbback, on both, the 33 is quicker and feels alot more refined but for those sideways adventures and tight corners the 32 feels much more responsive.

The 33 is now running lowered spings and both have camber & caster adj. bushes set up for sport and the 33 only just comes close to the feel of the 32.

Never raced them together(can't drive 2 cars at once)so I'm going by speed and feel on same stretch of road.

stock the 33 won hands down for being quicker.

Yeah i totally agree, the R32 makes up for its sportyness feel. Here in the NT we have no speed limits on the main highway and i pushed my R32 all the way and its got superb handling, all 4's stick to the road.

My experience in the past

My R32 used to run 12.5psi and made ~150rwkw with only an exhaust.

A friend with an R33 was running 11psi with a pod and exhaust.

The R32 used to pull away from the R33. Not by much but it was slightly quicker.

My R32 also used to sit dead smack even with another friends dead stock R33 GTR (Stock exhaust and all)

BUT... Once you begin to fiddle with the ecu on the R33's they leave the R32's for dead.

Dead stock R32 vs dead stock R33, the R33 is quicker.

Very mild exhaust and boost R32 vs very mild exhaust and boost R33, the R32 is quicker.

I put this down to the ECU in the R32 handling the mods a little better than the R33 as the R33's tend to have slight power dips and run very much rich!

Your R33 was manual, and your R32 is auto.. You can't compare them really Gordo.

My R32 vs unknown R33 I found on a *private straight part of road* I won by a half car length. I only made 140rwkw as well.

I’ll admit once you start and play with the R33 more, it’s a quicker car, but with the normal basic bolt on’s – The R32 is quicker IMHO.

ive got a r32 gtst and my bro has a s2 r33 gtst

overall id easily rather do up an r33 ... its just soo much nicer on the inside plus dual airbags... havent driven a stock r32 for handling but mines on teins and it handles like a gun the steering on my brothers feels a bit airy but i think we aftermarket suspension it would handle fine

we are both putting out about 190rwkw and when we raced he beat me on the start got a lot of wheelspin but after shifting to 2nd the r32 took off ahead but mines pretty heavily modded

but if your cashed up go a late model r33

I was mainly getting at how they are to drive, the handling, the "feel" of driving and sitting in one, not necessairly the straight line performance. Through the mountains the other night, the R32 was much better totally stock, and crappy auto as well.. than the handling of my old R33 ever was.

anyhow, the r32 will be manual soon enough..

I'm going to stick the RB25 turbo on the r32 in a month or so.. that will be interesting.. as the stock 32 turbo is a bit too undersized for the engine.

    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
