what suprises me, is that a known member, who is dodgy, and has been banned, is back and being allowed to use the classifides... under the same name/ac

Now I know this person still owes people money, but that is the least concern. This is a person that threatened me on multiple occasions, and at the height of the matter would call my g/f at her workplace etc after I threatened legal action. Not the kind of person we would like in this community....

But they are still here? why?

Your not seeing the point mate!

You can not... i'll say it again fro your benefit, can notprevent any, is that not the recurring theme through a lot of peoples posts?

If someone is going to scam, they will scam no matter what.

Putting up min post limits, months is only going to generate forum whroing and mass account creating by those who wish to scam.

As i said earlier. The min post thing was introduced and it lasted all of 5 days as SAU virtually stopped it was being spammed that hard.

You cant ban hotmail addresses for the most part as a LOT of people use them.

To ban them too stop a suspect 2-3 people... as opposed to a new 100 members isnt viable and would lessen forum traffic which is not good for the sponsors of SAU. It was discussed a while ago dont worry.

To go over Muz's points which are quite good, i'll give you the flip side of the coin here. They can be guidlines but by no means "rules" or anything. And the buyer must take these away.

1. All negotiations should be done via email or PM (This provides a paper trail)

this you'd think would happen any way.

2. Where possible payment should be by COD.

And what happens if buyers dont pick-up/pay? Then the trader is outta pocket. ITs the old two sides of the coin here indeed.

3. Seller must display items (pics) otherwise no post is allowed.

Do you really need to see a pic of an AVC-R or PFC for instance? you know what it looks like. Thats upto the buyer, but pics dont mean seller has goods at all. Its very easy to obtain a pic of anything your selling.

4. Seller must be willing to provide a verifiable residential address, current Drivers Licence details, and where possible a land line phone number (verifiable in current phone book)

all buyers should be asking for that as common sense

5. If not COD then a maximum of 10% deposit. (reduces the risk)

Again, who's to say the buyer will pay-up?

6. Always obtain a tracking number and courier company name. (verify item has been dispatched) Its a great idea. Used by many im sure, i ahve myself

7. Use Western Union as the intermediary.

never used that before so im not sure what it means

It seems to me that the buyers are being careless and for thier carelessness are blaming SAU which is totally unfair.

I've offered countless alternatives for buyers that will gaurd them 100%

far better than something that wont even work from a forum perspective

Which moderator ahve you Pm'd?

Ed G: Sorry dood, I normally get back to Pm's almost immediately (Oh the joys of working in IT and being perpetually online)

I am watching the character you pm'd me about closely, and i know for a fact that Prank has already put him on notice.

I have A GOOD IDEA But it may be a hard thing to get going...

HERE IT IS::::

***PRE SALE***

1--Allow people to advertise there producs that are for sale...

2--They can bragain or whatever like WE do now...

3--Come to an agreement with price including all postage

***SALE OPTION 1***

1-- If the users have agreed to buy/sell via COD then they can do so

***SALE OPTION 2***

if the users are selling/buying in other ways then then SAU should create a

USER (SALES)..

The buyer should deposit the full amount into a SAU (SALES ACCOUNT) and when the parts are recieved (Parts must be registered/Signature required items) then the SALES USER deposits that amount into the Sellers account...

This would limit any scammers...

SAU CAN create as many RELIABLE SALES users to keep up with it all...

Think about it..Its a really good idea

Cheers Hope This helps

What do you guys think??

For all of you suggesting that money is put into the SAU bank account as an escrow service, have you thought about who you want to look after this process?

They need to recieve a PM from the buyer saying that they've deposited $XXX for .

Since transfers aren't immediate, they then need to check the SAU bank account once a day and reply to the seller and the buyer that the money has been deposited.

Then the seller will send a PM to this magical person informing them that they have sent the goods...

And then the onus is on the buyer to PM this person to tell them the goods have been recieved in good order.

Then this person has to log back into the SAU bank account and transfer the money into the seller's account.

Now stop by the For Sales forums (there are more than one of them boys and girls) and try and guess how many items are sold every day.

Who do you suggest is going to spend 2-3 hours a day looking after this escrow service? :slap:

I couldn't agree more that SAU should not become involved in being the clearing house.

My suggestions are simply that. A simple set of guidelines that we should all follow when dealing over the net.

Western Union simply offers a service. " you pay the money, they advise the seller, seller sends the goods to the Postal outlet near you, they advise you, you pick up the goods, they release the money to the seller."

Cheers

    • Well, yes, every CU on the bus is available via the Consult port, but whether the scanner you are using is capable of talking to the TCU, the ABS/TCS modules, etc etc, is what is at question here. Many of them are only for engine codes. So, if you have one of those, you won't know if the ABS is having a bitch.
    • That's now. R chassis Skylines come from a time when the tolerance in the ADRs was a bit more....slack. My car, on 235/35-17, which is damn near the exact same size as the original 205/55-16, is pretty much bang on correct indicated speed across the whole legal range. That's demonstrated with constant speed run over 5km, and GPS speed. It's just the luck of the draw. My particular speedo head has to be the thing that is "calibrated" that way, because everything else (the diff ratio, the gearbox and the speedo drive**) are all same same as most other Skylines. **OK, so the speedo drive is a Navara unit to drive the R32's cable, not the electronic unit than an R33/4 would normally have with teh same gear on it. Otherwise, I applaud your OCD tendencies, and I would do the same if I needed to.
    • Not too sure, I believe the Nissan consult port does everything? Also just filled up the reservoir to full and the light is still on. The float seems to move up and down fine.
    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph on 255/40 17, so again conservative Google says manufacturers need to set the speedo from 4 to 10% slower than actual road speed.....for safety.....and compliance  After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
