haha, it may be too. Though i've had it off the boot and there was noise sound of water splashing around in there. The stock GTR wings are fairly hefty too. regardless of their water content!! :D

I will throw a spanner in the compliance / boat water theory.

Mine's an Aus delivered and it has water in the boot spoiler too... go figure.

i'd say it still came on a boat from japan and would have been sprayed at customs for bugs/diseases etc etc

i cant imagine any other way!

theres way to much water for it to come from condensation!

I've emptied mine post it landing, and its filling up again... so there is nothing special about the trip from Japan. I imagine its got something to do with the bonded nature of the spoiler and rain + washing.

This has been an interesting thread, the first time in SAU's history I have head of it and all of a sudden heaps of people mention the problem!

reni, how about editing the title so the thread says what it is actually about, and people can find it when browsing and searching :P

I just got my r32 GTR friday arvo from the docks in freo.. I had water in my tail lights on the right side (turns out a bit of rust perhaps where it wasn't painted up right or something, and the sticky black stuff wasn't all the way around).. Gonna put some anti-rust stuff on it tomorrow after a good going over with a wire brush in a drill, and my wing has a bit of water in it too...

Thanks for the tips... I'll pull it off and empty the water tomorrow as well.

Cheers,

-Shaun

Remember the at the blade on an R32GTR rear wing is a two piece moulding so there may be some way (?) water gets in there...

My wing on my 32 GTR has water sloshing around inside it also. I've also noticed at the rear eddge of the wing, there is a longish hairline fracture formed. Perhaps capilary action has caused any water dripping down on the surface to be sucked in. I don't think this alone could cause huge ammounts of pressure to build up though. You never know :D

Cheers,

-Shaun

I have seen this thread some weeks back and being a recent GTR buyer I decided to check it out. I opened the boot a few times and then I shook it around ... nothing. Having breathed a sigh of relief I left the poor thing alone and stopped messing with its back side.

Two days later however I opened the boot again and lo and behold Niagara falls inside my wing, bloody wombat tails says I. What a silly problem to have. Almost as common as the door foam on Nissans scratching the driver side window. So please +1 GTR to the water in the spoiler count.

In fact we should probably get a counter going, admin ... :D

this has happened to my window is ther any way to "clean" the scratchs of/out?

if you have taken the water out what was the water like? dirty? fresh?

I didn't stop to take a sip so I can't comment on its freshness (maybe we could sell "GT-R Water" on ebay? Good for atleast 30rwkw), but it looked reasonably clear.

As for the window problem, there is a thread on that somewhere else.

    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
