From what i hear i think you will be a bit disappointed with the Falkens. Ppl seem to think thye are a street tyre compund with a semi tread patter, where as the Dunlops / Bridgestons / Yokohamas are a softer compound.

Falkens use to be cheap, but they did have a price hike a year or so ago. What price are they these days?

Perhaps Toyo or is Kuhmo that have a semi type tyre?

lol everyone bags the falkens but have never owned them themselves

if your camber is in order, then the Falken RT215s will bring a big smile to your face :D

They did to me in 245/45/17, have gone about 8000km on them, still heaps of meat left, and i have NEVER lost traction besides full throttle cornering/wet

whats your impression of the re540's that the saloon cars run Duncan?

Ive never used them but apparently they are similar to the dunlop formula r (excellent). they were replaced by the re55s which are the new bridgestone tyres.

And yes knore you are right, I've never used rt215s, but they clearly are not as soft a compound as the other r tyres

what price are the RE55's going for?

i was thinking of getting some of the second hand tyres from the saloon cars.. about $200 a set since they are the same size as my rims, gotta be better than the crappy tyres i have always used.

$200 every 2 months, the tyres should last that long.

I now own a set of RE55's.

Got them from Melbourne from the SAU Vic arrangement. It's $150 cheaper to buy them there and freight them here and my mate can fit them for me.

I'd love to look after the club sponsor but if club discount is $150 more than purchase elsewhere+freight then no can do.

And as for grip I'm smiling already and I don't even have them yet.

I bought 2 x Falken Azenis RT-215S's for the rear, about 2000km ago, i must say i'm very impressed with their grip levels. Only had them let go once, and that was severe provocation... i.e. 90 degree righthand corner, 1st gear, full throttle, up a hill. Even then they didn't let go in a big way, they still kept gripping, and pushing me fowards, where my old tyres would have just been a plume of smoke, with me not accelerating very fast at all.

Edit: P.S. They were 205/55/16's to fit onto standard R33 Rims, $255 each.

same.. I've installed a set on my 32 GTS-T and they're awesome road tyres. Through the mountains barely would lose the tail, even at quite silly speeds. And that is with a stock suspension setup. Will have to see how they go with a bit more power through them to adequately get an overall comparison.

We'll also see how they go on the track in about 2 weeks.

Whilst R compounds are great for the track, you really do want something that gives you more than 10,000km in general use.

You'll feel every bump of the road with the RT215's though.. and you'll also hear them quite a lot.. I dub them "stone throwers" ..

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
