Uhm.. I had a little accident in the car.

I was driving on my merry way back to work after getting subway for lunch when i braked a little hardish for my drinks liking and it decided to spill everywhere!

So I now have a swimming pool of coke and creaming soda on my drivers side floor and stickiness to my centre console and gearstick boot.

So can anyone recommend a carpet cleaner that can get rid of coke in the carpet and a bit on the seats?

:uhh:

I've parked it out the front of work with the windows down at the moment to try and dry it up. Is this a bad thing? I've also got paper towel down trying to soak it up... Hrm.. I might get andrew to go to Aussie Auto now and get something and I'll do it when I get home and leave it over night to work it's magic

Use a damp sponge to wet and soak it up.

This will dilute the spill and remove as much residue as possible.

Don't use a hair dryer or heater or any artificial method of drying, this could damage your carpet.

The carpet in a lot of cars (not 100% sure for Skylines) can contain acrylic and artificial fibres which can melt really easy!

Open door and leave in the sun.

If still sticky

repeat.

Well I got andrew to grab some stuffs from Aussie Auto on the way down and he bought some Meguires stuff and some other thing cause it had a cool brush on the lid. :)

Luckily when I got home it was still wet so we just sprayed the stuff on it and cleaned it and left the windows down to dry it. While the car was at work, I placed some paper towel down to try and soak up some of it. It kinda worked :S

Thanks anyway guys.. now I just have to get the splash marks off my centre console, avcr, steering wheel, handbrake, gearstick, dask. :)

Never EVER taking that drink in my car again!

Yeah I had same prob in my last car with a mcdonalds drink....it's those stupid lids, if it tips over for any reason (esp. if it hits the floor) it's everywhere. Now I only take ones with screw on caps.

yea coke from maccas has done it to me before.....the centre console "drink holder" is to large for a large coke dammit....but yea its never posed a large problem always cleaned up ok

Strangely enough Spray and Wipe is great for home carpet stains and spills, I ahve also used it to remove stains from an older car..

I once left an Iced Coffe full on the back seat of my 180, a few days later, (I live in the Pilbar it was like 40 every day) I came ack to my car and the back seat had soaked up all the off milk, was one of the most disgusting smells that I have ever experienced. Took weeks to get the smell out, and basically once the smell was gone, a week later the car was smashed, poor car..
