RBCalais
Hi, just wondering what things are require to re-register a complied import. I'm looking at buying a 15year old R32 which has been complied and I want to know that I have everything required, so that when I rock up at QLD transport, with a RWC and cash for Rego and CTP insurance I'm not going to be turned away. So what items could be required? * A japanese complience plate? (the Blue sqare-ish ones) * An Australian VIN number (ones that are usually engraved onto the fire wall or on a pop-rivited plate) * The Australian complience plate (that reads "this vehicle complies with the low volume import rules of 1989" )- I've seen these on later model cars, like R33s etc. Are these required for the 1989 model cars? What about paper work?? * Import approval paper work * Complience paper work? Thanks. krush
when i went to rego my car that i imported, i had a trainee doing it with a more knowlageble working standing behind him explaining things as he went, as he had not done an imported car before. from what i heard, they basically entered the car into the system, cleared all the details (as in going out to look at all the right things) and made sure all the new details of the car (VIN etc) were ok and put them into the system. form this, i would not thing there would be much needed other then your normal things to rego a car built in aus, as everything was cleared that first time, and the car is now on their system. but, this is just my thoughts, obviously a call to your local main roads would give a more solid answer shaun. predator
1) A japanese complience plate? (the Blue sqare-ish ones)2) An Australian VIN number (ones that are usually engraved onto the fire wall or on a pop-rivited plate) 3) The Australian complience plate (that reads "this vehicle complies with the low volume import rules of 1989" )- I've seen these on later model cars, like R33s etc. Are these required for the 1989 model cars? 1) If you mean "engineers plate", yes you need that. This is different to an official compliance plate as on the SEVS or older system for cars newer than 15 years. It basically says "this vehicle meets ADR's for 1989" 2) yes, you will need the aussie VIN attached to the firewall, which is at the bottom of your import approval. 3) See point 1).. no. I registered mine after compliance.. there were a few confusing stories I got, but in the end I spoke to the manager at QLD transport, and what i thought was correct. You basically just need the above, a valid safety cert, the CTP papers, and your import approval (they check this). That is all you will need. You will have to also pay stamp duty, and a little bit extra for the issue of new plates.
