Did they measure your tint or just say it looks too dark? Most of the R34's have the UV-cut glass...which looks dark, but the actual transmittance is extremely good...it's like one-way ambulance glass. The key word in the legislation is transmission :(

It's all on the legal basis that the driver doesn't have his vision diminished, that all goes out of the window if you drive with sunglasses on though...*sigh*

A friend of mine who owns a tinting franchise told me once that there is only 4 certified testing locations in Queensland that are able to correctly and accurately measure the tint darkness??

Go figure when the police say, "Sorry mate, it looks to dark".

Tyre size is easy. Any tyre shop can tell you the nominal rolling diameter of any tyre size. with that said, the width issue is also simple. If your vehicle comes out standard with 215/50/16's like my R32 does, that means that I can go up to roughly a 275 wide tyre. The only problem is finding a combination that will also fall under the rolling diameter law. in which case I would probably need something like a 275/35/16 which I don't think they make. I SERIOUSLY doubt you would have anything wider than that on your car. I even think the R33's come out with 225's as standard don't they?

With the exhaust, you'll have to find a resonator that has glass packing instead of fibreglass or stainless packing. Glass packed mufflers/resonators deaden sound like you would not believe. If it comes down to it, you can still buy another 3inch straight through fibre packed muffler and put it in just behind the cat or something. You will knock it down from roughly 110 db to 90 db by doing that alone.

Ditto on the tint issue....that is crap unless they test it.

Boost controllers are illegal from what I am told. I think you can still argue that the vehicle is fitted with factory boost control (wastegate actuator). But I think the problem is with the adjustability. Under bonnet is fine I think, as you cannot turn it up or down while driving.

oh, I almost forgot. The battery thing too, the law doesn't say just sealed either. It says it must be sealed and ventilated.

Sealed AND ventilated? Doesnt that contradict its self?

Sercure and vented maybe.

What is the issue with electronic in cabin boost control?

being able to adjust the vehicles performance from in the car, or more basicly being able to adjust the vehicles peformance. I doubt there is a law against it, it is impossible to have laws that cover every aspect of modifying a car, so police just pick on things that are non-standard in the hope that noone will kick up a stink about it. That and there is more than likely a general law that states something about modifying a car without a mod plate or approval etc.....this is most likely the case.

dam roger, thats harsh man. what night/day did u get done on?? i wasnt out at all bcoz i seen them out friday night (State Traffic Task Force) and i just did a u turn and went home, i seen 4 cop cars in 1 min just near alex surf club. i knew they were out bcoz they were at goldy last week up here this week and my guess is brissy this week end. and guys roger has a trust in cabin adjustable boost controller knob that u can manually adjust whilst driving. if u wana get your exhaust quietened go to an exhaust shop and ask them if they have any old rear standard mufflers off a car then get them to bolt a flange type adjustment for the back baffle so u will have a standard muffler say 2 1/4 Inch tip and it will quieten it down enuf to pass the test. then when its over just put ya otha muffler back on. if u really wana quieten it down just get another resonator put into your exhuast somewhere. had to do that to my mates cars.

So how does one become a 'member' of Team Sh&%box racing anyway? I was just wondering coz I own one of them and need to belong to something.

LoL great skill and agility man. It was just a joke thing between mates a while ago, we had crappy cars at the time, so to stop others picking on us, on with stickers etc. Grew from there.

But yeah, back on topic. From memory the cops dont like the in cabin tee peices because they can vent the gasses in to the cabin. Dont quote me tho.

my rims were 18s and my tyres are 225/35/18 front and 265/40/18 rear. apparently the biggest wheel i can put on is a set of 17s with a proper load of tyres-- i meant load was --> " here's what the copper explained--> my tyres can hold a load of upto 516KG when i was meant to have a tyres that can hold a load of up to 680kg--> and i was like..what the? ok.. so meaning---> if i got some big passengers...my tyres might not be able to handle them--> and YES..is was 2mm too big...he explained that even if i did a burn out to take that extra 2mm out.. i would still cop a fine for not having a road worthy tyre...so eitherway..i get the fine.-->LOL

My air filter was a nismo and it wasn't secured properly so thats why.

as for the tinted windows--> police said -- " it looks too dark and must be removed "

i will find out on wednesday what i can do about my muffler..they gave me 5 weeks to get everything done.

this was done on a SUNDAY.. and they are from Brisbane.

My BIG questions about mufler noise though --> i have never seen a Harley being pulled over because of mufler noise...Why is that ?

yeah they arent targeting bikies on harleys, they are trying to get us bcoz we drive around lapping up and down. if bikies were doing that all day they would be out fining them 2. its crap i know, but now the majority of cars cruising round are imports they crack down on any 1 who drives 1, even if you never come out and just drive to work and back. if your in the wrong place at the wrong time too bad. its descrimination at its best.

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
