So guys what did you think?

I didn't watch the whole race as I had an early board meeting today, but I switched off just after webber threw his podium away.

Anyone know what happend to him? It seems he just lost the back end in a big way coming into turn 10(?).

It was good to see webber get a good start for once and get past Heidfeld and good to see him able to hold off Rowf. I sooo thought this would be his podium chance, but not today.

I heard on the radio this morning he finished 6th. that's not to bad.

Good race overall, although Webber through away a good chance at a podium. From the replay, it just looked like he lost the back end of the car which isn't surprising given that Williams have been struggling with rear end grip all weekend.

Webber also had an exciting battle with De La Rosa towards the end of the race, although I thought it was going to end in tears with the way Webber was swerving all over the track to block him whenever he made a move to pass. Thought Webber's defensive driving was perhaps a little over the top to be honest as he was really struggling and De La Rosa had good pace (over 1.5 secs a lap quicker), but all ended well (although Webber unfortunately lost that battle).

Yeh, there have been a few instances now where Weber has been tuff the get by, and in the back of my mind perhaps a bit unsporting. Give him a few more races to settle into the team, he is doing a great job...but i fear he may just be a little too hungry for a result, and that could ultimately be hurting him????

Anyway, good to see he is making others work for it, just hope he doesnt think Schumacher banging wheels is ok...but i suspect once he gets a result he will settle down.

It was another good race...lol and Coutlahrd was again in the points, and is 5th in the championship:)

He just made a mistake and paid for it. de la rosa set fastest lap of the race catching him so it was inevitable that he woudl get past but webber certainly made him work for it, great to watch! given that the williams is a bit draggy and not able to generate sufficient rear downforce on the faster circuits i predict that webbers day will come at monaco! If he qualifies well which is likely he could be hard to beat.

:(...de la rosa is probably sniffing around looking for Saubers second seat.:(

I wonder how much patience Sauber will have with JV, Massa is running circles around him:(

With Sauber goign to use BMW engines nect year, what are the chances of pizza boy jumping from a testing role at Williams to Sauber for a race seat, hell he was thinking about a seat in Indycar:(

yes, webber certainly doesn't give up spots easily. that's not really a bad thing providing he doesn't take it any further. I think he is now right on the limit of what is good/fair race driving. I wouldn't call him unsporting just yet, he is racing afterall, and needs points just as much as the next guy. He just needs to be aware not to push it any more and end up getting a bad rep amongst the other drivers.

I think you are right too, once he has a result he will settle down. I think losing that first BMW podium of the year to heidfled will be putting himself under a lot of pressure now to get ahead of Nick. I think that loss was no fault of his own, fisi ruined both their races that day. Bahrain, I guess he was just pushing to hard. He will get a result though, and he will be better off once he has that monkey off his back.

meh, I'm fine with how Webber held him out, with the exception of the first 2 feints he made when de larosa was beside him....the rest was fine, he was just loosing outright pace in return for holding the position. A less rusty driver would have been past him within 2 laps, I can;'t beleive he held out for 6 laps

I've raced against a driver with a really wide car before....and it is *soooooooooooo* frustrating. But hey, as long as they follow the rules it is just a part of racing.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
