Got my R32 about a month ago and i have to say what a damn waste of my time and money. Dont get me wrong I love the car but after what the import company and the shipping company have put me thru i just wanna give it bak.

It was meant to arrive here in september last year but it missed boat after boat and finally got here in march. Damn ***** never answer the fone or reply to emails and when I actually got thru to them it was the same thing, 'next month for sure'.

Well it finally cme and I got it complianced - 3 corroded pipes and a corroded exhaust = $1000aprox. Cause - sitting at the docks for a year. Not that much money and I got a cannon and my car finally.

Anyway after drivin it for a month the reserve tank starts gurglin. I get it checked and apparently the radiator had corroded also which had caused the head to corrode. So now they have to take off the head and replace some internals which is going to cost me at least 1500.

Moral of the story - dont buy from *****... i guess the overall cost of the car is still fairly decent however it just hasnt been worth the hassle. I wish my first post here wasnt such a bad one... hopefully after i get my car fixd ill be able to contribute =p

well ***** isnt bad. infact, they are one of the most reputable import brokers around.

true, ya car had to wait at the dockin for quite some time. but thats not the fault of *****. they dont control shipping.

like they all say, i guess importing isnt for every1.

hope ya car will be in a good nic soon. enjoy ya ride.

from my experience with their customer service i cant understand how they could have a good rep... im not being a hater but they lied to me several times about the location of the car, never replied to emails and rarely answered their phone. I had to request numerous times for paperwork they should have sent me initially and conveniently forgot time after time.

I got my car thru ***** and never had a problem. In fact, even after having the car for 2 years they are still willing to help whenever I need parts/mods or general advice. I've since imported rims, suspo and an intercooler thru them. The rims and coola took a lot longer than expected (its the risk you run with importing) but the suspo came in a timely manner. They even installed the suspo for me. On top of their service, the car is mint and has never missed a beat.

When importing you certainly run the risk of experiencing situations like you have. Its a shame that it happened to you but for the majority of people it simply is not the case. I hope you get it all sorted out.

Hey there, i was pretty shocked when my frend (who is the one of the mechanics where your car is getting fixed at) told me that the R32 had a corroded headgasket and head. Unfortunately, this is the "part and parcel" with importing, because we all are essentiallty buying a car sight unseen. My R32 (which is exactly same specs as yours! :] ) has being sitting in japan since december, so i am going to def be checking the engine thoroughly, when its here.

Good Luck, hope things start looking up from here with your 32.

Well I saw a 300Z the other day and was $5,000 in repairs for a mechanically sound car, the rust hole in the engine bay was that big the battery was nearly bigger than the hole.

Front was black under the blue and rear was red under the blue, not bad for 400,000 plus FOB.

Another cheaper repair and compliance job was $3,900 plus exhaust, just to pass for rego.

Well I guess it could always be worse hey! I suppose all in all I still got a pretty good deal on the car. With 30,000km on the clock, after i get this fixed it should last me a long long time.

How much did you end up paying for the car? If it was a gtst for about $10k, you cant really expect to get a car for $5k cheaper than the price their selling for here and not have anything you need to spend money on. Thats one of the risks of importing.

Hehe 30000kms, no offence, but i doubt it, unless the interior was immaculate.

The interior is mint and it has full log books. It's an 89 model. I wouldnt have got it if I didnt know it was genuine.

All the stories you hear about this and that being wrong with cars, fresh imports, I'm glad I've had so little problems with mine. I've had it a month and a half (or so, the time has flown :() now and so far I've had a rear tail light out (which was fixed eventually), a dodgy speaker (which I don't care about, I'll be getting a new stereo in there soon enough), and the beeper for when you leave your lights on when the car is off doesn't work (oh well :)).

I might aswell share my import story, after having my GTR waiting on the dock for 1 year I was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought. even thought I had wait an extra 2 months for a ship and staff being on holiday and it had to be trucked down to sydney from brisbane.

The rocker cover gaskets needs to be replaced after sitting there for so long as understandable. but was not impressed with the importers and compliance guys for not mentioning.

ABS module had a leak

CV boot split and needs drive shaft reconditioned

driver fold-in mirror not working

Oil pressure guage playing up (I'm aware this is a common problem)

Missing Boot trim

Even though it is nothing major it would of been nice to know before getting the car. All the little things to add up.

You must be kidding yourself if you think you have an 89 model GTR with 30,000 genuine kilometres on the clock :bahaha: :bahaha:

The interior of my 94 model is immaculate too .... with 160,000kms on the clock

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
