its media.

they are there too win rating.

Same as a Gov't... anything they can do (ie hoon-laws and the like) to win votes is what they do.

Its not about fairness, its simply about winning/revenue/sponsorship in the short term.

nothing more.

Was this the show where the residents blocked the dead end street in the Gold Coast? Saw some of that but didnt see any liners.

BTW anyone else having problems with Channel 10 HD or is it my set top box (sorry to hijack!!)

Essentially the story was to draw attention to the new laws about vehicle impounding.

I don't think it's a bad thing - you get caught, you lose the car for 48hrs. No big deal - lesson learnt, don't do it again. 2nd time is for a month or so - still no huge deal... but by NOW you'd want to have learnt your lesson. 3rd time - it's gone for good. Why? Because you are stupid and have been warned. Twice.

It's not like they'll crunch that gold VL up into a cube either - it gets sold at auction, so you can buy it back if you really want to. Having stupid interviewees never help justify either side of the story.

Anyway - will see what comes of it.

Sad to see Addy cop 8-months though

He's a really nice guy - but basically the pinup boy of the indo-drag scene.

Hopefully - he'll be a good boy now.

And my little tip - when doing burnouts with your mates in a public street to show off for the cameras... don't have the 'for sale' sign and your mobile number in the back window.

Yes - was not aimed at imports at all. Was their standard stock 'drag racing' footage - just happened to have 2 white 33 GTS-t's shown.

The impound laws are active in QLD, and are being used as an example in what is proposed for Vic. I don't think it will be a bad thing - providing it's not abused by the Police. We'll see what we''ll see though.

Personally though - I think the direction the 'real' news took with tougher penalties for hit-run incidents is certainly worth while. Not something I'd wish on anyone though - driver or victim

Why should they have it here.

Knowing the way Vic Police already bend and abuse the powers they have now... they will surely do it even worse.

You know in WA, under thier laws... you can actually get done for accelerating too hard.

Now, please tell my why HSV need to make a 300kw monaro if the new laws come in?

You'll never ever need toouse that power. And if you do, thats instantly classed as unreasonable

It's just another slapping of the victimisation stick.

YES!.....Channel 10HD wont stop flickering! It's really annoying!

I saw the story on how the residents setting up a road clock with their cars. I think i saw a portion of the story with some guy in a Gold VL doing burnouts, and some dumbsh*t being interviewed.

Steve.

Yes mine keeps flickering too, maybe I will hold off taking it back yet then! That was the only reason I was watching the sreet racing thing.

My STB was playing up on HD TEN (12) last night... kept getting blocks and stuff across the screen - only minor but still annoying, good to know its not my antenna/STB.

As for these anti-hoon rules, yeah fair enough if they aren't abused then it should be ok, but I'm just worried about (as ash said) if you accelerate too hard of the line, or overtake etc... its the cops judgement 'that was hooning' there's no black and white, like with speeding - your over or your not, red light? it was red or not... but this anti-hoon stuff - its at their discretion, that's a bit worrying. I think the younger guys (P platers) will be the ones targeted, so at least being a 'little' bit older it may help.

yeah, acceleration while cruising is what got me and a friend in shit. got a court summons and charged with street racing and dangerous driving. i went over the speed limit by a bit and all of a sudden the cops are trying to ping me for 120 in a 70 zone, with no radar. ha! this law will turn ugly as cops in vic are already bad enough.

That law has been in place for a while in vic. What is worse is it is up to the police's disgression; ie. if you get pulled up by a cop who is having a bad day, he or she can, without proof, fine you and have you appear in court on charges of accelerating unnessecarily, let alone the other things that they could pin you with; recklessness, drag racing etc.

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
