No its not. Its only defectable if the wheel and tyre combination varies from factory by more than 15mm.

The reason behind the width bit is mainly the change in loading on wheel bearings.

You can find a heap of shit on the RTA Website - Here's just a snippet of the information you might want to look at .......

You need to send about $23 to the Federal DOT (www.dotrs.gov.au/land/vehiclestandards/adr/subscriptions.htm ), and they will send you a CD-ROM of the ADRs.

Do that, and have an attitude whilst you do it and the cop WILL hand your ass a defect notice regardless.

You might be able to talk your way out of it if you do it very tactfully, but if the cop suspects for a second you are trying to make him look like a dumbass, he'll stitch you up. I'm not a cop, but thats what I'd do if you gave me attitude, so it figures that they would too.

When i was 19 driving a worked 351 clevo powered 2Door Falcon, I get pulled all the time (of course), and I got sent to the pits too often becuase I was 19 and did not know how to shut my mouth.

"OK sir, I think those headers are illegal, as is that carb, and your wheeels are definitely too large"

"As if mate, what would you know, I read up on this stuff and it's all legal"

"Oh really"

"yeah really, so why don't you go bust some real crims huh, and stop picking on us guys with hotted up cars all the time"

"OK, but before I go bust some real crims, here's a defect notice that instructs you to present your car for full mechanical inspection"

*under breath* "Shit!"

Me at 27 pulled over in a turbocharged 351 Clevo powered 78 falcon that apart from stock body and wheels, was pretty much street/drag sleeper.

cop instructs me to pop the hood

"whats all that extra piping in there?"

"To be honest officer, I don't know, I'm a computer nerd, I actually know bugger all about cars. All i know is it has that LPG feul thing as well as normal feul. Saves you heaps that does mate. Do your cop cars have that too? It's save you guys heaps, driving around all the time like you do"

"OK no worries, just take it easy next time alright?"

"sure thing"

Although it was next to impossible to "take it easy" in a car that made close to 400RWHP, I think you can see the moral of the story.

Disclaimer: The turbo'd V8 project was undertaken, when turbo's where still mainly used by heavy machinery and trucks. You could buy an EXA Turbo, and Godzilla had eaten up bathurst, but your average man on the street had no clue what a turbo was, not like now, so I prolly ould not get away with that these days.

Once and for all.....even though i can't find the rule indicating anything about 1inch over they WILL defect you for having more than 1 INCH over! So for the last time all us gtst WILL get defected for 18's. I know because i have, even though my wheel and tyre combination wasn't 15mm over.

1inch taller, and 1inch wider.

    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
