If anyone would like their services done on the southside. Bring your car into Midas at Capalaba. Mention that you know me from the Skyline club (hehe) and you WILL be looked after both in service and price. We do a VERY thorough job including FULL inspections of engine bay (all items), FULL inspection of suspension and exhaust and FULL measure of brakes. We will not cut corners because you are a 'friend'. We can do any mechanical repairs but are not really into performing modifications and stuff like that. We can get our hands on most aftermarket suspension brands and will fit anything you want to supply to do with brakes, suspension or exhaust...providing it is legal of course. I should be able to give everyone discount on labour, parts and servicing. Maybe not all three at once but be sure that you will pay less than retail.

Our phone number is 07 3245 5399 and the adress is 129-131 Redland bay road Capalaba. We are at the back of the Caltex servo on Redland bay road.

you rock!

i've been needing a service on my auto trannie...

what would the damage be roughly for a new filter, gasket, and fluid?

oh, and do you do any exhaust stuff? i just need to change the gasket that joins the dump pipe and cat...

cheers,

Warren.

sounds like a great offer. Will keep it mind for anything fiddly thats in the cb assed basket.

could you do things like manual conversions, if parts supplied, etc? or is that a bit major?

Aside from being major, we try not to get into the modification side of things. It kinda brings too many hassles where warranty is provided. We give warranty on all our work and with stuff like that it is hard to do. But don't get me wrong, we are capable. I hope you can understand.

I'm not too sure on the price of a trans kit for your car. In most cases it is better for you to buy it genuine with things like that. I don't think it is available aftermarket(eg. Repco) and we only buy it for about $10 less than you. Then if we buy it, we have to add markup...so in the end it is cheaper if you buy the trans service kit and we fit it.

Retail on the flush we do is $249 but I can guarantee you won't pay anywhere near that amount. That includes a full flush and treatment with a 99% guaranteed removal of old fluid. It is pretty much the same way the dealer does it but we use a better treatment. It provides better protection of your seals, bands and solenoids than the genuine treatment. I'll ask the boss for a price tomorrow and let you all know.

Trust me when I say this....you won't believe the result after it is done....it will drive like brand new again.

Indication of price for timing belt change please :( Oh and as mentioned Automatic service.

Timing belt costs around $60-$70 genuine. I would not recommend using aftermarket belts for this...unless it's Greddy or something like that. Then add about $120-$140 for labour (2 hours discounted from $80 per hour to $60 per hour). The job in general would take closer to 2.5 hours assuming there are no other problems. So in general $200 would pi55 it in but I would consider doing cam seals at the same time. I don't want to touch the crank seal if it's not leaking as this takes an extra 3 hours to remove and I would go insane if I had to do another one.

But yeah, $200 would easily do timing belt fitted with cam seals.

thanks mate, keen to find out

you can PM me if you don't want to post prices here...

How sk1llzed are you at replacing exhaust manifold bolts on an RB30? Assuming the manifold is a cxnt to get on and off :>

Why are they a cxnt to get to?

I shouldn't have any problems doing it. We have the oxy there, I'll just cut it off

If it is the same as every other RB30 then I won't have any problems mate.

Is the guy who owned the Red VX(i think) Commodore still there. Cos when I had my last car, I got awesome service.

That was Emanuel. He was the Area Manager at the time. He no longer works in this role, however, he is still employed at the Woodridge store. He's a top bloke. Some people take him the wrong way coz he can be confrontational but I never had a problem with him.

We will look after you in the same way or better.

Don't limit my offer to just Skyline drivers either. Family of forum members will get the same service and discount. Friends of forum members might but that may be stretching it a little bit. We will still look after them but not as good on price as forum members and family. After all, if we gave everyone discount, we wouldn't get anywhere.

what about a cousin?

the reason i have asked so many questions is that we have just moved up from melb and looking for a workshop to call our 'regular mechanic'

he has a jeep and is looking for a fairly major service sometime soon and you seem like a top bloke and have had good feedback

we shall definately pay you a visit sometime, i especially want my auto trannie serviced + gasket done (as mentioned) so i shall PM you when the time comes...

cheers,

Warren.

Yeah, no problems. We look after all our customers. We don't bull5hit anyone and we only tell you what needs fixing. We won't fix anything without your authorisation....even a light bulb. We are very thorough. Sometimes people get the shits because they own a crapper and we write down everything. Some people are totally unaware of how bad a shape their car is in. I would be glad to help your cousin anytime they need it.

Free inspections of exhaust, suspension and brakes. Just don't ring up and say...I want a free inspection coz it gives us the shits... just ring and say you would like to have us check out your suspension or whatever. Ask for me if you like. I'll sort it out for you.

Do you guys do suspension bush replacements? I potentiall will need some replaced on the rear end of the leopard.. but I have nfi what parts would fit in this case...... :S

Actually how much do you guys charge to have the suspension bushes checked? :)

The reason I say the exhaust manifold is a cxnt to get off is because its an aftermarket jobbie for a high mount turbo. The runners bend nicely over where the bolts go, so they have to be put on in a certain order so you can twist it to get access. Hard to explain without complicated hand motions :)

I've got an exhaust leak that I think is coming from the exhaust gasket, but I'm scared that if I pull it off I'm gonna find busted bolts... Thats where you come in. If I find busted bolts, I gotta take it somewhere who can do it cheap(ish) :D

    • But first....while I was there, I also swapped across the centre console box for the other style where the AV inputs don't intrude into the (very limited !) space.  Part# was 96926-4GA0A, 284H3-4GA0B, 284H3-4GA0A. (I've already swapped the top 12v socket for a USB bulkhead in this pic, it fit the hole without modification:) Basically to do the console you need to remove the DS and PS side console trim (they slide up and back, held in by clips only) Then remove the back half of the console top trim with the cupholders, pops up, all clips again but be careful at the front as it is pretty flimsy. Then slide the shifter boot down, remove the spring clip, loose it forever somewhere in the car the pull the shift knob off. Remove the tiny plastic piece on DS near "P" and use something thin and long (most screwdrivers won't fit) to push down the interlock and put the shifter down in D for space. There is one screw at the front, then the shifter surround and ashtray lift up. There are 3 or 4 plugs underneath and it is off. Next is the rear cover of the centre console; you need to open the console lid, pop off the trim covering the lid hinge and undo the 2rd screw from the driver's side (the rest all need to come out later so you can do them all now and remove the lid) Then the rear cover unclips (6 clips), start at the top with a trim tool pulling backwards. Once it is off there are 2 screws facing rearwards to remove (need a short phillips for these) and you are done with the rear of the console. There are 4 plugs at the A/V box to unclip Then there are 2 screws at the front of the console, and 2 clips (pull up and back) and the console will come out.
    • So, a bit of a side trip, but one that might be interesting for people with JDM cars and japanese head units. I know @Pac previously posted about a carplay/android auto adapter he installed which used the AUX input, and @V35_Paul put in one of the Tesla style units that replace both screens. The option I went with was a Lsait LLT-YF-VER5.87_2 (https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8GB-Android-Multimedia-Interface-for_1601187633672.html). Price was $1,150 for a single unit although they are much cheaper if you are willing to buy 2....$857ea. Make you you get the version 2 not version 1, it is faster and has a better UI - this is the manufacturer listing: http://www.lsailt.com/product/348.html. BTW if you've never bought from Alibaba before, don't be concerned....these guys can't stay in business unless they are responsive, ship fast etc, they were excellent (probably faster shipping than most local places) So, this was my task for a lazy Sat afternoon....looks complex but was all done in a few hours (it probably helps that I had some of it apart before so it was a bit familiar). I also decided to add a HD USB drive recorded at the same time and the unit also supports an aftermarket reverse cam (if you don't want to retain factory) and also AV in and HDMI out It looks much worse than it is, in fact in was genuinely all plug and play (no custom wiring at all). This video was pretty good (skipped a few steps), unfortunately they are an Aussie seller but no longer sell this unit (I guess Carplay/AA adapters are easier to install and much cheaper) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5hJfYOB8Dg
    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
