I got the Fusion Plus card (with remote control, coax output, analogue rca input) about 3-4mths ago for $200 from my local www.arc.com.au

Many people say the Dvico software is buggy, I haven't had any problems (you get the odd glitch but nothing that has prevented me from using the card/software). The card is fine and plenty of other software to use instead of the bundled Fusion software.

I don't watch a huge amount on my pc (even though it looks unreal on my 19" CRT) I use it more for recording stuff when im out, or late nite tv stuff (motor racing or misc tv shows).

Mr Baron grab DVDShrink, MPEG-VCR, TMPGEnc DVD Author, DrDivx and about 20gb of free hdd space.

Edit: My neighbour has 1 of those vcr-style Sony DVD Recorders and I have 2 or 3 rounds of the F1 done by this and the quality is nowhere near what I get with my Fusion card + editing software. The F1 coverage from beginning to end minus ads is about 6.5-7gb. With ads its around 9-10gb. A DVD-R holds 4.4gb so the Sony recorder has to compress the 9-10gb to less than 50% quality. It auto-adjusts the quality depending on how long to set the recording for (ie 2.5hrs or 3hrs). By doing my own editing on my pc the compression is around 70-75% all the time and you can't tell the difference between the original and compressed..

Well im so disapointed that Heidfield is going to Sauber/BMW. So what are the chances of Pizza biy getting the seat? There is also talk that BMW still want Weber but he is pretty clear that he is staying with Williams.

There is plenty of talk about Fisi to Williams, etc, but the only choices i see are Davo or Pizza boy. I know id liek to see Davo get the seat after years at BAR.

LOL...there is even talk that JV will be goign to Williams as he is about to lose hiw BMW/Sauber seat....really where do they get their info from???

it's kind of a shame that webber is so intent on staying with FW till the bitter end. He did make some valid points about consistency etc over a number of years, but honestly how much better off he would have been had he gone with flavio to renault at the beginning of 2005?

I just pray that willaims will get their shit together and build a decent car for him in 2006.

Unfortunately, I think God is a Renault fan, so your prayers (and mine) will probably go unanswered for the foreseeable future.

Williams are in a downward spiral...they don't have the technical expertise of many of the other teams, they'll lack a manufacturer engine deal in 06 and morale must be down. I think the only thing that will save Williams' progression down the grid would be if they were able to poach some big name technical guys (an Adrian Newey, Pat Symonds, Ross Brawn or Mike Gascoigne for example) and/or if they got an injection of funds and support from a top line manufacturer.

Hopefully they can get back up the grid...and hopefully Webber won't have to regret choosing to go to Williams over Renault and Toyota...

I totally agree.

Next year will be a very interesting year for Williams as no more HP backing, new engine(ford) and new tyres (bridgestone). Webber must know something to not jump ship.

Apparantly Williams arnt too happy with webbers performance and wouldnt mind seeing him gone...

According to a report in F1-Racing, Sir Frank Williams has grown so exasperated with Webber's performances that he is (or was) considering dropping him.

'He is dissatisfied with Webber’s performances - and his attitude,' the magazine claims. 'Frank's dream line-up [for 2006] is Button and Nico Rosberg.'

Button's u-turn could hand Webber a life-line, though.

Full story at http://www.planet-f1.com/news/story_20976.shtml

If Webber gets dropped by Williams I'm sure BAR would take a good look at Webber. A switch-a-roo. THEN Webber will have a better chance. But it's likely that Frank will sell Buttons contract since Williams is in need of cash funds.

I read that story on Planet-F1 as well...I find it a little hard to believe though.

Webber has been quicker than Heidfeld at most GP's, but unfortunately he's had a good deal of bad luck on a many occassions that has compromised his results. Heidfeld has pretty much got through the season unscathered by bad luck (except for his recent mishap) in contrast.

I'd also think that if things weren't going so well between FW and Webber, then Webber wouldn't be so keen to stay. He could easily move to Renault in place of Fisi, especially seeing that Flavio is Webber's manager after all, but yet he remains loyal to Williams every time he's asked about it by the media.

As for Webber moving to BAR...I think Karthekeyan has got a better chance of winning a GP then that happening any time soon.

That article reaks of "no farkin idea"

No statement in the article is factual with regards to performance, so woudlnt be too confident that the content regarding he said, she said is accurate.

Lookign through most articles are that BMW want Weber, FW wont let him go. Weber is insisting he is staying with Williams...so i think the relationship is pretty solid....my thoughts only.

Pizzonia has never coem close to Weber, it took a first corner shunt to stuff Webers race so that Pizzonia could finish ahead...if you had watched the race rather then looked at the results table then the dumbs1t journo would know.

Williams have hired some new people the past few months, and im actually pretty confident that Williams will pull their act together for the first half of next season.

What will be even more interesting is the progress of the Red Bull/ Coulthard next season with Ferrari engines...

...oh and why is it that Pizza boy hadnt driven a Williams in months when he was called up to replace Heidfield? I cant see him getting the seat, otherwise he would be doing more of the testing rather then Rosberg??!!??!!??!!

Pizza boy could not handle pressure in the past. Webber beat him in a Jag last year in one of the last races. Pizza boy would have impressed with the race in monza although he did have some luck which Webber has had 2 5ths of f all this year.

The most interesting thing on planet f1 site for me was Tony Kannan getting a test with the new BAR honda 007.

This just in - from 'crash.net'

Jenson Button is to stay with BAR Honda after reaching a financial settlement to release him from his contract with the Williams team.

Button had agreed to switch to Williams for the 2006 season, but a change of heart earlier this season – and changing circumstances at both teams – saw Button announce his desire to remain with the Honda powered team rather then move back to the team that gave him his Formula One debut back in 2000.

After months of media speculation, and ongoing discussions between Button and the Williams team, a financial settlement has now been reached which releases Button from his contract and leaves him free to continue with BAR into 2006 alongside new signing Rubens Barrichello.

------

The decision to release Button from his contract also means Williams will now begin the search for a new driver to partner Mark Webber next season, with the announcement already made that Nick Heidfeld will join the new BMW team for next season.

Test driver Antonio Pizzonia, who will again deputise for the injured Heidfeld in Brazil this weekend, GP2 racer Nico Rosberg and BAR tester Anthony Davidson – who Williams were keen to sign for 2005 – are all expected to be in the frame for the seat.

Given that Heidfeld is going to BMW and that the Buttongate sideshow has now finally come to an end, I think WIlliams should concentrate on making sure they get a decent driver to pair up with Webber for next year.

If I were FW, I'd forget about Pizza Boy (and those stupid rumours about JV going to Williams) and concentrate on getting Ant Davidson's butt in a Williams for 06. I think he's by far the best bet from the drivers that would be available for next season...that is of course unless that Hakkinen bloke decides that he might want to give F1 another go.

I'm thinking Williams will go pretty good next year with the Cosworth v8 due to the v8 Indy engine knowledge. All the other teams would have to build v8's without the past knowledge..

how good were the first few laps (aside from the pizz/weber/coulthard crash)? plenty of big macs passing people. both kimi and juan putting some good moves on. even michael finaly passed someone up the front (fisi) though he did get taken on the re-start.

the rest of the race was boring, and unfortunately dirty sanchez is now the world champ.

i though what he said in the interview about not having help from anyone and how he could only really thank 3 people (but didn't name them) was a crock of shit. I don't care how good you think you are you don't get to F1 let alon a world champ without lots of support throughout your career. what about his team? his family? his sponsors? his fans? absolut wank.

I watched the first half an hour or so......so the rest was boring? I thought for sure it would be one with all the action (being the only one I didnt watch all of).

At least my man won :D

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
