they are still better controllers than a solenoid based EBC for small capacity engines with large turbos and small turbine housings.

i.e. best for rb20det with hi flow. and on my rb30det it still holds 17psi till redline from 2800rpm like a dead flat line.

I can't believe that for like 83 pages I can not find the size of the bearing for the MBC.

I lost mine and I searched the whole thread and others as well. People on here mention the bearing but do not state the size!?!?!?!

Can someone please tell me what size bearing it is so I can go get one from CBC please????

i had one, it was running great till i upgraded cams and to a gt30 turbo

with the bigger turbo it didnt work at all, i had massive boost spiking, jumping quickly to over 20psi regardless of how the controller was set

i switched too a turbosmart bleed valve i had sitting in the shed and amazingly it fixed the issue, i have good boost control using the turbosmart running a meesly 16psi ATM

I kind of had a similar issue with My GT30 and the turbotech. It was very very fiddly to stop it running near unlimited boost through the mid. Basically the spring tension inside the boost controller is a tad too stiff for the bigger turbo and stiffer actuator.

The actuator is a 1bar actuator, fitting the turbotech the minimum boost we could run was 19psi and that was wound all the way out with very little tension on the spring.

It would hold 19psi until 5000rpm then dive off to 17psi. We pushed upwards of 22psi in to it and the same thing up top 17psi.

Fitted an EBC, can run what ever i like through the mid range but top end dives off to 17psi. Still made 302rwkw with boost diving to 17psi.

Now to fit an 18psi actuator to hold the gate shut and push 19-20psi in to it and hope for 320rwkw. Then E85 and 340 maybe 350rwkw if I'm really lucky.

Being searching for installation instructions for an R33 GTR, can anyone help? I'm thinking it'd be the vac hose with the factory restrictor as the obvious choice, but would appreciate a quick install diagram if anyone can help! Only got a flat panell intake & catback exhaust and my boost gauge is reading about 0.8bar with that alone.

Thanks

Tim

i got 1 of these turbotech boost controller thingy, was going to take it out and change it to a "better" one, but then i read how many good comments about this turbotech, im just going to leave it on and save up my money for something else...

im curious...im new to nissan skylines and turbo powered engines, so i do not know how to check how many PSI i am running,

im driving an Automatic R33 GTST, when i step on the accel my boost gauge goes under 5psi or maybe 4psi at about 2500 revs

but it cant gain anymore then that, is that how much boost my turbotech boost controller is set to?

turning it clockwise would increase boost?

and if i put to much boost on, would it blow my engine?

What boost gauge are you using? the stock one in the dash is not in psi.

If aftermarket and your reading of 5 PSI is acurate then you can adjust the turbotech.

I got this from page 1-

"first you leave it completly open giving you normal boost level

(opposite to other bleed valves) with normal bleed valves the more you open them the higher boost you get.

take it for a spin, make sure no hoses have come loose and boost builds normally.

raise boost by tightening the allen key down 1/4 turn, go for a drive. repeat untill you have reached your desired peak boost.

once it is acheived tighten the locking nut in place so it stays at that boost level."

So yes, clockwise will increase boost.

If you still have a stock turbo, I recommend don't go above 11 PSI. just to be safe and preserve the life of your turbo.

im using an apexi boost gauge, it shows in psi.

yeah i tried it today by turning the turbotech clockwise, it still stayed at 4psi and stay at 4psi.

hmm.. could it be a jam? or the gauge is not working properly?

Hey guys, After reading 20+ pages i decided to get one my self.

My aim is to boost it to about 10-12 psi on factory turbo.

I will let you guys know how i go with it. I was originally gonna go with turbosmart tee but after reading this topic i decided to get one, paid 37.40 delivered. If it works, it will be best 37 bux spent in a long time...

Now all i need is a aftermarket boost controller....

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
