gtst4d
Hello peoples i need to do a bottom end rebuild on my motor broken piston and i am just after some advice, tride a search but didnt help much. This is what i am thinking about at the monement. Block cleaned and honed. Crank balanced. RB26 rods. Nissan mains. Nissmo big ends. Piston? ( i need help with). Match the rods to the big ends and crank with the right clearences(anybody know of these clearences) R33GTR oil pump with a jun adaptor(dose this sound right) R33GTR water pump( do i need any adaptors with this) And maby a metal head gasket(what are the standard ones good for) This is a long term project, the rest of the car is fairly standard but i would like in the future to have a lot more power, so i need to do just the bottom end for now to get the car back on the road any advice would be good. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73491-rb25-rebuild/ Share on other sites

clean_vl
rb30, u will probably find it will cost u the same(bottem end), and less money spent later to get the required power. keep in mind the little extra head work required and even eng managment to get it running. this will be posably what could set u back Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73491-rb25-rebuild/#findComment-1350983 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
I highly doubt a search gave nothing. This have been covered with a hell of a lot of detail basically, mine Arias 87mm pistons Prepped GTR rods N1 oil/water pumps Usual bottom end balancing and prepping and thats it. Duncan
ACL make bearings locally for about 10% of what Nissan charge. Arias forgies 1200 with rings Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73491-rb25-rebuild/#findComment-1352517 Share on other sites

SLY33
As for pistons, check out CP pistons. I was talking to two separate engine builders a short while ago about getting mine rebuilt, and for a small amount extra, the CP's are the way to go apparently. SLY33
gtst4d you said you wanted more power down the track, maybe give us an idea of how much power you consider "a lot". This should ultimately decide what components you need to go with and help people give advise. Cubes
Use pistons your builder is 'used' to. Problems occur when you request other pistons to be used and the builder is not familiar with them. I used Wiseco's as they are a slipper. Slippers are better. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/73491-rb25-rebuild/#findComment-1353766 Share on other sites
