I have been defected for a pod and was told to remove it but i have nothing to replace it with. I can't seem to locate a stock airbox anywhere an Sydney and can't exactly drive around with no filter at all. But i have read somewhere that at least one air intake mod is allowed....so does that mean i could leave the pod on? I have also bought a UAS airbox to cover it but i assume that covering it won't pass the defect as the pod is still there...

advice is urgently required..thanks

As far as I understand, a pod is legal if you have it boxed.

Something to do with the pod taking in air from engine makes it illegal, or something along those lines.

Mybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends who you call. I've had an engineer call the RTA directly and ask them if my pods were enclosed, was it legal, and the RTA dude said no. Any changes to the intake system can increase/decrease airflow into the engine and thus effect the emissions output of the car.

Said engineer signed off my car with a clean bill anyway because he liked it

(this was for the normal yearly pink slip for registration renewal, not a defect)

i was told to remove mine because of noise polution! lol!!! so yeah... i had the option to enclose it, but it had to be in a plastic box... ie: something that wouldn't increase the sound!! He was happy with me getting the pod enclosed, so i don't see why you couldn't just do that!

I was told by the RTA that they are illegal if you don't have them engineered and the engineer is not allowed to certify an un-boxed pod

????

well technically that's correct. It's wise to get your modifications engineered, it saves a lot of hassle with the Police.

You can have an unboxed pod engineered legally if it was complied that way when it came from Japan. I believe that's correct but take that with a grain of salt. If in doubt just box it (as it's more beneficial) or run the stock airbox with an aftermarket panel filter which flows better than the repco replacements (although mine's perfectly fine)...

Yeah i just decided to go with the stock airbox and really cant notice the difference. Its a bit slower off the mark but only by a fraction. My pod was leaking shit all over my engine bay anyway which was causing my car to idle really rough and stall at low rpm. Got the wires replaced and the car tuned and its running smoother than ever. Definately don't feel the Pod is that much better that its worth copping a defect over. Just gonna put a K&N panel filter or something inside the box to get a bit more air and i should be right

UAS make pod boxes for gtst r33.. fmic and stock.. ya can get a plastic one for around 100, fiberglass for around 200, or carbon fiber for 300. the fiberglass and carbonfiber ones are custom fit, but the plastic one is like one size fits all style.... which doesnt always fit snug..

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
