Dreaming of mods everyday

Recommended Posts

Ok how can I get over this?

I drive my skyline daily... to work and back, so about 70km's a day, combined with cruising two days a week, and all in all, a decent number of KMs.

I'm all good when i'm driving it, but everytime I get out of the car, I sit at my PC at work and dream about mods... exhaust, suspension, turbo, power, tyres, ECU, having no traction in the first three gears, running 11s... i'm sure you get the idea.  I go to the extent of pricing EVERYTHING up, reading 50 billion threads about how my car would react to those mods, etc etc.

However... the problem to go with this, is that I can't afford any mods at the moment, haha.  How do other skyline others get over the need to mod their car? :)  I am progressively going insane, and the empty $4k credit card is starting to look friendler towards me!!!!

SELL DRUGS :(

ive set myself a limit i dont want to spent so much money on my GTST so at the end i dont want to say "GEEZ i could have just bought a GTR with the amount of money i have spent"

all i need is a few more hits and im done - I swear , I promise

Front Mount - boost controller - tints and thats it

maybe change my rims but thats it ;)

:) all too familiar...I had my car for a while (a couple of years) before I had the money to even think about putting some decent mods on. When my wallet was thin, i just waited out and found a few bargains here and there ;) that fuelled my dreams at least a little. Now that i'm earning a little more money I'm trying to decide where best for it to go (aside from the credit card :) heh oh well...all in good time.

Best of luck :(

    • Things are great Christian! And you?  Would be fantastic to see some of the oldies come back for sure.
    • Plastique? So there will be a limit to how much torque you can apply. I guess the short length probably plays well with that. You chose the length based on the room you had available to swing it in? I've made something similar with round bar, heated up and bent sharply, then a little spray with the MIG to fill out the corners of the 3/8" square and some filing to shape. I've also seen it done just using a short length of 3/8" square bar (or there are double ended male 3/8" socket accessories which can do the same thing) and a bit of plate with a 3/8" square hole broached through it to use as a handle that you can slip over the square drive. You could probably do the job you had to do with a 12mm box spanner too. You know, the sort that you get for spark plugs on whipper snippers etc. Box spanners are beneath scorn most of the time, until one saves the day.
    • If the photos of the bars are as per current, then you are not on the stiffer setting. You are on the softer setting. Torsion bars are stiffer when the arm working on them is shorter.
    • I'm trying to find more info about the composition of the bearings.  I found these ones; "The Upper and Lower bearing shells are comprised of a lead-free, Silver-based tri-metal material designed for extreme load applications." https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3929159-king-n55n54-rod-bearing-set-size-050-oversized/ And ChatGPT said; "The overlay material is often a soft metal alloy such as aluminum or a lead-based material." I'm just going to send myself mad. I'll just drain and analyse in a few thousand k's.
