^^ pretty sure you'll find that the S1 had drivers side airbags most likely as factory option.. most have them, however the S2 had dual airbags in every car..

Makes it an issue for compliancing as you need to fit an airbag to the car if it came with it factory I do believe..

If it doesn't have one now.. not much you can do short of paying a couple of $'000 to get one installed.. that is if you want it.. personally i wouldn't get a car without dual airbags.. but that's just me.

Have you tried just looking at a number of '95 cars forsale on websites, would be a good idea of knowing what came with what.. if all of them have an Airbag, than yeah, could be a problem.. if a fair few don't than i'd say it was still a factory option than.

However - all SII definately have dual airbags.

can you explain what the issue is? if it has been complianced without an Airbag and has a compliance plate than you should be fine to get it registered unless the RTA do an inspection and find something wrong. In which case, take it back to the compliancers and get them to fix it for you.

or

are you worried about your safety and after a car with an Airbag? very valid..

Issue? I dont want to get defected and have to spend shitloads on a new steering wheel... thats pretty much it. Nah havent looked at others for sale thanks for the idea. I'll check the compliance plate too. Nah the safety wasnt too much thought about. Probably should think about it tho lol

Mate, my car is a 1995 series 1.5 its ment to have an airbag. It had an aftermarket wheel which was taken off before i purchased it, so i replaced it with just a series 1 steering wheel. It has been over the RTA, and nothing was said about it.

I've seen 96+ skylines with sports steering wheels, and it didnt matter either.

To tell you the truth, the RTA doesnt really know if theyre ment to have them or not, they didnt have a check sheet there to tick off, so if it was rego'd like that, as far as your concerned, it never had one to begin with, nor am i.

Hope this helps.

Dayne
