So my C34 S2 needs pads soon.

Anyone care to give feedback on whether the R34 Gt-t conversion is worth it, time and effort sourcing parts versus upgraded feel/stopping power.

I figure once i sort some calipers, lines, new rotors, pads and a seal rebuld kit I will be somewhere between 5 and 9 hundred.

Pads for the standard stag calipers will probably be like 80 to 140 so is it really worth it.

I also plan to do this myself, my car is my daily so it needs to happen all in one weekend.

brand new pads for GTT i got quoted around $100 for front nd rear for bendix HD. nd $140 for QFM, around $225 each for front rotors (slotted 4000 series) rears (slotted 4000 series as well) $159 each, and got a full set of GTT calipers+Bolts+Lines for $600. unless u get second hand pads nd rotors with calipers. (calipers from a wreckers so can probably get them cheaper on here if ur willing to wait for some to come up or can find some).

GSL Rally Sport can hook ya up with pads that straight on the s2 c34.

I have bought pads for my S2 from GSL, they we're great to deal with. Posted them straight away.

The side of the box said Nissan Murano which prompted me to search part numbers and yes, they are the same,, BUT, I'm not 100% sure if thats an Australian Delivered Murano. . So you could possibly walk into any auto store and ask for Murano pads.

I have my old pads and intend on going to my local Auto-One and comparing with Murano pads but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Good quality pads and decent brake fluid will do the job comfortably. I picked up R34 calipers, slotted rotors and pads for a good price so it was a no brainer for me to do the conversion. Perhaps with repeated stops this setup is superior but for day to day driving it feels the same.

I fitted 4 pot GTST calipers , front, used standard rotors. No great noticeable stopping power, but then I have not had to stop in a hurry

Fit was easy as.While I was at it fitted new kits and pads. Braided lines are next. Then I will do rears.

just did my 34 gtt conversion all round with T3 4000 series rotors nd Bendix Ultimate pads. and stopping has greatly improved during bedding in, ill let people know how they go on cruise tomorrow nd after a little driving. but it all depends on how much people are willing to spend on doing brakes as too wat u should do.

sorry guys wont be taking my car in hills tonight to let u know how the breaks do. hopefully i am feeling better tomorrow night. but driving through town to pooraka today. managed to catch every light. kept braking as it was at the start. so hopefully ill get the full report to u guys soon. i am thinking going QFM next to see the difference. but ill have to wait till these go.

Nope, they share the same pads as the USDM Murano, and the Infiniti equivalent.

I am not a fan of the pads on the Stagea that came with the GT-t calipers. The previous owner said they were ultimates.

Heard that before! Keep in mind, that if you're going to change to another pad, you'll have to either replace or machine the rotors to get a fair comparison of the new pad. Modern pads since they banned asbestos hate working on rotors which have had a different material on them.

I got the remsa pads from gslralleysport and it was hard to get them to fade for bedding in!!!

they shouldn't fade at bed in, they should be getting better at bedding in.

and took car out other night for a hills run nd brakes didn't lose any pressure. but had mad brake noise. so trying to get that all sorted. cleaned front brakes today so see how they go again. hopefully be better tonight. if not hopefully brakes will get hot enough tonight to clean off what is left in terms of dirt on them. otherwise still strong brakes no matter wat :D

Check for a lip on your rotors for brake squeel

I thought you had to get past green fade when bedding in so I just went for total fade then long drive with minimal braking to let them cool

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
