hi guys,

I am looking at some 18X9.5 inch TE37s for my R32 GTR. They only thing is they are +12 offset. The question is will that offset be suitable for my 32GTR or do i need to get the +22 offset ones?

Lucien, what offset are your TE37s? They are 18X9.5 right?

thanks.

I am pretty sure that Rays recommend +22 for the 18 x 9.5 on an R32 GTR with Brembos and +12 or +22 without.

In comparison, Work have the 18 x 9.5's as being +20 offset.

hahaha i know! I just bid on a set of Work Emotion CR Kai's in 18X9.5 +20 offset and on their site that is what they reccomend for the 32GTR.

Question: will the +12 offset move the wheels further out from the strut or closer to it (relative to the +20 offset)?

Thanks Charlie.

ooh, i think i just figured it out. the +12 will be closer to the strut that the +20? if that's the case i could run a 10mm spacer which would effectively make them the same as a +22 offset. correct?

No, its the other way round mate. I was going to suggest that the +22's could have a spacer fitted to decrease the positive offset, but you have already bid on the +12's :P

hmm it looks like +12 may be the go then. hopefully not too wide for my lil' ol' 32.

i hear you on the CR vs TE37 debate, but you have to admit the CR kai in bronze is a pretty sexy looking rim. cheaper than the TE37 too.

TE37 has been a long time favourite though and are about as good as a lightweight forged rims gets. the bronze looks very nice on a grey 32 too. :D

thanks for clearing up my offset misconception! makes sense that the lower number = wider track.

these are the volks:

both nice, but in some ways i reckon the works will suit my 32 better. i dunno they are both pretty damn good. Plus i've never seen a 32 GTR with those works on but plenty with T337s...

I have been looking at Weds Sports SA90 in bronze too. so many choices.

takako1002-img320x240-1077873243sa91.jpg

only thing with the weds is it's either 17X9 or 18X10.5 they don't come in 18X9.5. I think the 10.5 width is a tad much for a 32...

There seems to be plenty of (new) Work CR's for sale at very reasonable prices. Can't say the same for the TE37's though. :D I actually don't mind the CR's, but I think that the pumped guards of the R's need dish. SP1's and Work Meisters are my choice there. But don't let me (or anyone else) sway you - it's your car :D

yeah dish is nice, but i like the jap wannabe, GT500, rice boy racer theme :D

don't get me wrong the 5 spoke S1s etc with the deep dish are pretty horn but for me it's always going to be a wide-ish (ie 9inch+) race style rim in bronze. I think they look very nice on a grey GTR. It's just a question of which one.

Then why are you selling that wonderful wing that came with the car? :D

It's all good mate :) I actually think the R34 wheels are perfect for the grey GTRs. I want to get a huge set of dished rims for my R32 eventually :)

hehe, i'm not that bad. i still like the standard lines of the car, just like the wanky wheels too!

yeah 34 wheels are pretty good but again every man and his dog has a set these days and for the same money i'd rather the TE37s :D

I agree, the R34's just aren't worth it when you can buy other brand names for the same price.

I think that the ultimate deciding factor would be tyre width. But at least with the 22's you can use spacers to bring down the offset if need be.

I wonder what is the widest rim (and tyre) that can be fitted to an R32 GTR (without major mods)? Where is always_me? :P

You definitely need the +22's. Even then they will be marginal without a bit of neg camber.

I have 18*9 +24 and they are a perfect fit on my R32 GT-R. I need some lightweight track rims and the TE-37's are what I wanted, unfortunately they don't come in +24 - very few light rims seem to???

Regards

Andrew

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
