hey guys/gals,

just wondering whether anyone knows what the factory stereo's in the R34 GT-T's are like? Cos my mates VX commodore has like a pretty good factory stereo, quite a lot of bass for the standard speakers, so if anyone knows things like how many speakers, how they sound, stuff like that, would be much appreciated :P

cheers.

Hey SS8_Gohan!

Standard is a radio cassette deck with 4 speakers - they are labelled as "premium" speakers. CD is an option afaik, so is the boot mounted 6 stack.

Personally being an audiophile and deejay - they are not up to the task for me! Thats why i removed my old stereo from previous car and installed it all in the 34 within about 2 weeks of owning it!

Factory stereo is better than some of the older jap cars though. Speakers aren't too bad but the head unit is ordinary imo. And you will need a frequency converter [around $25-40 not installed] if you plan on listening to any of our radio stations above 90 MHz - which is like all except for 88-90mhz anyways. If you like the gospel / christian channel currently on 89.9 then hey you are in luck!

For reference: our radio frequency allocation bandwidth is 88 > 108 MHz so you will miss out on nearly all of the common channels if you leave the stock HU in.

Cheers.

hey nismo!! wasn't sure whether it was u from SDU, but when u posted in the SAU VIc goes thread now i know!! I saw ya on the cruise tho, ur exhaust gave it away! How's the car going anyway?

thanks for the info on the stereo, just wanted to get an idea what it was like. As long as it's not REALLY crappy, then that's cool. But by the time i actually get a R34, i don't think i'll have much money left over to change the stereo! :P

hey neo, thanks for the reply as well. So u got a n/a? How does it go? Still got a pretty good kick in her?

cheers guys.

    • rebuilding is a straightforward option too, the only thing to keep in mind is non-genuine boots are likely to be much worse quality rubber and need replacing about 10x as often.
    • Yeah, great guy that Matt, giving very comprehensive emails with quick responses. He told me it’ll be plug and play for the ECU, which may potentially get me out on track at 600kph by the end of the month or June.    Anyone wanna buy a HKS SLD..
    • I was looking into the uniclutch, as something that doesn't rattle, dampens and holds horsepower is the dream.   They didn't seem super confident on the power holding though.  Could just be covering themselves, which is understandable.   "The 10in sport Uniclutch can handle a peak of 1100Nm at the flywheel, not sure how that translates to HP. As for the power output of your engine, I would suggest holding for the UniClutch Track, I feel the 1000HP will have a higher torque rating then what the Sport will be able to handle, We have fitted prototype track clutches to a number of street/track test vehicles now and have found pedal effort to be reasonable. It is very similar to OE pedal feel. and would fall within the torque capacity of the Uniclutch Track."   The track clutch loses the dampening and rattles(?) I believe though.... don't quote me
    • I think this is applicable for most. My car was ~2,000,000 JPY in 2020 Total expenses are around ~5,000,000 JPY excluding fuel. Selling price could be anywhere between ~5,000,000 JPY to ~7,000,000 JPY depending on how desperate the American. Sure, I could have stored it in that time but there are still storage costs “carry costs” as we call it in industry - insurance, garage, electricity, maintenance, etc. and possibly made 100% (nominal return), but I don’t think that’s why most of us are here. Apologies for the deviation.
    • I don’t think they’re rated to hold that power
