Where Are The Super Fun Happy Sliders?

Did the fighting force of extraordinary magnitude ever get out of the garage and onto the track???

I ask becuase i want some company when going to a few of these little lessons on protracted suicide...so who is actaully entering in the days/comps?

I recall the SFHS club was going to do its own thing, and not be associated with SAU, and thats cool, but its time SAU and Team Wang are represented...so lets see who can do the most panel damage :lol:

narkeh's drifter's on its way from japan. Mine will be getting S13 suspension and steering rack from UPI fitted in the coming two weekends. Dunno if it'll be ready by the 24th, but I'll try. We'll be in the thick of it even if we don't compete Roy... if you come we'll keep you company anyways. I'll even bring some suntan lotion for ya :O

Cool...so being serious for a moment, i have read the CAMS aspects of it and starting to get my head around the different insurances the days run under...but who are running the better organised days, and which days does a hack novice get the most enjoyment out of?

hack novice will get the most out of FLM events in VIC, if you're in Syd then either the fatz days or ID days.

DA (Drift Australia) events, which are now CAMS sanctioned, are closed to most privateers and beginners, and you need to be invited to participate.

FLM is a CAMS affiliated club, but to my knowledge their events aren't CAMS sanctioned. Which explains the event at Winton, as they operate without the need for CAMS liability insurance.

The Winton day looks like the layout will be ok. So are these days full of sh1tters who arent overly concerned about rubbing ppls daily drivers, because thats drifting?

My biggest concern is keeping me out of the wall, a thing i no doubt will struggle with..and would rather not have ppl trying to drift right next to me, ummm into me

And these are pretty basic questions, and sorry... but I have never really been that interested in it and figure the WRX Club days are coming to an end so may as well get involved in a few of these days over XMAS ;)

Winton's layout should be good fun. I mean, having used a Proton Elise... I mean Lotus Elise through the chicanes you should be pretty familiar with it.

The people that bring their cars drifting are just as possessive of their cars as you, and entrants are sent out with sufficient gap between them that if an incident was to happen, then the marshalls will have enough time to delay proceedings till the mishap is cleared.

As for drifting alongside someone, whether you take part in it is totally up to you. Bumps on the track are never intentional, and reckless driving isn't allowed, but accidents do happen. That said I've never seen hoons on the track who have no regard for other people's property.

    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
