100k Service...where To Go & How Much?

Recommended Posts

I want to get the following done:

-New pads all round

-Timing Belt

-Gearbox + engine oil

-Radiator flush

-new plugs

-diagnose & fix my engine shudder at idle

-Wheel align

-tune

Extras...

-Dyno tune + power run would be nice :P

-Maybe do injector carbon clean

Would i be right in budgeting at least $1500?? If anyone could help me out with how much they paid for similar work and where they got it done it'd be great :)

At this stage i'm thinking Mercury..(from previous forums searches for good workshops).

Any input would be appreciated....

i did my 100k service at nissan wooloongabba

did timing belt, all the usual service bits

plus replaced a few gaskets and piping

replaced cracked radiator fan

i believe it was 1400 bux all up

nissan can do 4 wheel alignments as well

they wont do any tunes or dyno runs though

$1400 is pretty steep, but spose thats what you pay for when getting dealer servicing...

Thanks for the reply spooks, i'll keep them in mind :)

So noone else has any recommendations?? I dont mind if they're not a massive workshop with a flashy title, i just want honest, quality work by someone who knows their way around RB engines.

Been thinking it over and DEFINATLEY want the following

-Radiator flush

-Gearbox oil

-Timing belt + water pump (genuine only)

-Diff oil

-New pads and fluid

-New plugs

-Engine oil and filter

-Engine carbon clean

-Full wheel align and raise my coilovers by 1cm or so

-Fix my slight engine shudder at idle

Is they're anything else that should be done??

Hoping as a ballpark figure of $1500, no more..

Thanks guys, i will ring mercury and motorcafe tomorrow :(

Chaos- yer thought about doin oil, filter, pads, radiator, g'box oil myself. But my car parks under the building in a shopping centre style underground park. Dont think the rest of the tenants appreciate oil and coolant all over the place (already done this once before...) plus since i'm taking the car in for the other work, why not get it all done at once.

How would there be oil and coolant all over the place if you drop it into a catch of someform..ie bucket, oil tray.... If that really is a problem, dont you have any rellies or mates houses you could do it at?

Well what happens when u flush radiator?? Would need alot of buckets the way i do it

And dont really know alot of people down here, only one mate with a garage at his flat and he'd probably say no.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
