Where To Buy Cheap Parts In Japan?

A good mate of mine is heading over to Japan for motor racing in about a month.

He'll be in Tokyo for a day and while he is there he wants to buy some stuff for his car and of course mine too :)

He isn't a member of this forum so I thought I'd be good enough to ask around and see if any of you guys know of any good places to buy some cheap aftermarket parts over there?

I've heard of some markets/stalls and stuff and also Up Garage but no idea where they are and all the websites are in Japanese

Appreciate any help!!!

yep, we did buy fair amounts of parts and shit this year. :D

upgarage chiba is the go for second hand stuff and whilst you are near by you might as well head on the monorail to Cyrstal (also in Chiba area). The lame directions in my reply to your pm should help.

just something that you might like to be aware of...

Upgarage is kinda like JMS or something in Australia. Ie. They buy cheap parts and then mark them up as much as what people are willing to pay for them. Meaning you virtually NEVER get a bargain from them. Wheels and tyres seem to be the occasional exception.

If you are after cheap parts being sent to aus you are much better off searching yahoo auctions and getting someone to send them over :D

streeter is right in that it is a common misconception that parts are cheap second hand... i was a bit shocked to see that the retail is still expensive. and yeah to find cheap parts you need to know people there. also to get them to send over to perth is a tough thing, i am japanese and they still tell me no!!! its not the language, i think they cant be bothered...

if you are after something specific i might be able to get it as i am dealing with few places who do send over seas, whether new or second hand... i am in perth though, mail me if you are interested.
