Hi guys

someone can take my place - i will be selling Niz hopefully early this year so will resist the urge to thrash. She's at the shops today getting new tyres, new suspension and a few other bits n pieces as it is.

Oh no! are you upgrading or moving to somthing different?

not really place to discuss but will just answer your question quickly: I plan to do a little bit of both - upgrade with something a little different (don't worry still a nissan) its a project i've been itching to do for the past 18months. Won't be upgrading straight after the sale of Niz - will take me about 6 months later to get the funds together.

No i won't be selling the plates either :)

sry guyz n girlz, looks like after waiting so long for this event to arrive, i wont be able to join ya's. car is unfortunately out of action for a couple of wks. clutch has started to slip a bit, so decided to replace and upgrade whilst im fixing it. might try come down and watch, but if i cant have a great night.

Liz/Dan, will times be posted on the forum after the event?

A few questions..

1. What would you say would be a good tyre pressure for 18x265x35 tyres on a R33 GTST

2. Does octane booster really make a difference?

3. I have a fat head, does anybody have a spare helmet I could borrow?

4. How much petrol should be have in our tanks.. 1/4 tank before the night, i dont want to carry too much cos of the weight, but i wouldnt want to run out.

Cheers

damo

Topaz - the entrance is VERY obvious. You drive in off Anketell Rd and there are BIG signs saying 'competitor entry'. You go through the gates there and pay the person in the booth :P So as you turn into the motorplex rd off anketell, its your first right turn into the gates.

ok cheers Liz ;), Ive been only once before when I was about 14-15 or something....

Wheres the closest petrol station?. I should have about 1/4 of a tank on the night as well

Theres a 'better choice' servo just around the corner on rockingham rd towards perth direction but they sell poor ass fuel, theres definately no ultimate 98 or vortex. Actually.. come to think of it.. theres a Caltex just across the road from that one.

The nearest BP is on Gilmore ave, which runs off thomas road. From Anketell you would go back to the roundabout (Abercrombie) and turn right, follow to end and turn left onto Thomas, right at the traffic lights onto Gilmore and follow to the BP. It's not very far from the plex, probably 2 or 3 km's....

For people coming from NOR down the freeway i'd suggest a fillup at BP THOMPSONS LAKE (Gateways Shopping centre).

Exit the freeway at Beeliar / Armadale Rd just on RH Side of Bridge is BP

Then Jump back on Freeway

BTW, IMHO Octane Boosters are waste of time unless you are planning to run more boost, Advance your timing or you basically think you are going to get Detonation on the night, putting Octane booster into your 10psi Boosted Skyline will do nothing :)

    • I'm actually not sure - I think it was "Stealth Performance" (It really is near impossible to find a FEMALE 1/8BSPT to 1/8NPT male at ALL) but having the thing leveraged on a 90 degree angle on a small aluminium fitting is not too smart. Also in not too smart, I've drilled out the center of the broken fitting so there's maybe 0.00001mm of thread to bite into, so yeah. I may have to get it drilled/tapped/plugged entirely. Given I could conceivably tap a thread/adapter/pressure line in any point in the oil system I suppose it's feasible to run a line to the Nissan Sensor to keep the dash working. Do these exist in AN fittings and the like? Like an AN fitting that has a NPT (or other?) thread as well for putting a sensor in?
    • I would agree.  There will be an amount of boost you could run safely with an otherwise factory system, but it would be low enough to not be worth the cost.  And if you are reliving your 20s, you know a 'little bit' was never enough. Personally, if I didn't want to spend the money, then stick with NA bolt-ons, and maybe a tune.
    • Fuark, at least the motor survived. What brand was the fitting that snapped?
    • Wrong question. There's no point in spending the rather large sum of cash and effort to add turbo, without taking it to the "sensible" limit of the motor itself. If you have to upgrade injectors, etc, then so be it. That is a tiny fraction of what it will cost you to turbo it.
    • Measure voltage at the starter solenoid terminal when the key is at start and it has clicked. If it is really low, then the suspicion falls on the ignition switch (contacts or wiring thereof) as causing a voltage drop instead of sending enough volts to throw the solenoid all the way to engage the starter itself. If it is a decent voltage, then the suspicion is on the solenoid. Might have s horted coil, or might hva dirty contacts. Rip the starter off, dismantle, clean up contacts and inspect winding. It might not be possible to see if there is a short in the winding though. I have a spare starter here that I could measure the resistance of the coil, as a guide to about what it should be, if you need a comparison. <parts hoarder>No you cannot have it.</parts hoarder>
