Hey guys,

I went to Hitman Ignition Tuning today to tune my SAFC-2. I drove in with 147rwkw and drove out with 191.6rwkw. You do the math (i suck).

The service was A1 and he even fixed a few problems i had with the car (timing, spark plug gaps).

Here is the dyno graph:

My car is an AUTO r33 gtst, fmic, 3" turbo back and a pod.

and heres a few pics i took.

Matt was very willing to explain every step during the tune which is why i felt i had to post this. He's definately a top grade dyno tuner.

Here is his web site if you guys want to contact him.

james

with the exhaust, fmic and pod i was running 147kw because it was running mega rich.

its not bs.

maybe you should know what you're talking about before you post bs comments.

(not being rude champ)

I have an auto and have been modding 4 3 years and 50 rwkw IS BS

compleat BS

Not being rude ether

mine r33 auto

3' ful exhaust

fmic with plumb back

pod

ebc

255rwhp @ 10 psi

so your thread interests me and i have been doing this to my auto for a while so when we (auto boys) pull big power i am interested

i had an safc 2 fitted and got 10rwkws

could have been my tuner but the guy is knowen 4 pulling huge hp (and blows turbos all the time)

so that is y i am amazzed, your car must have been running like a pig

also can you flat foot it without poping

i found a few extra kws and a good power band

sorry about insult did not mean anything but you might get more liners a bit ify with that massive gain

james

Security ok champ wat next in the mod angle

i am going the emanage i think but you might have changed my mind

shift kit

fuel system

i recon your turbo is hiflowed is it standard wat psi is it at

and can you put your foot flat to the ground without poping

sorry about all the qs but i realy am interested not enough auto boys

and wat do you want out of it

james

yeah man.. Hitman definately knows his shit.

he uses Haltech engine management but i'd probably go with pfc when i do a manual conversion.

nah my turbo is stock but next mod in line is a t3/4 hybrid (internal gate). maybe get into the 220-240kw range. i'd probably go for the emanage too if i havent gotten the manual conversion by then.

im running 10psi but it spikes up to 12psi mid range for some reason.

basically im looking for a weekday work horse/street racer/weekend worrior(drags)

could have been my tuner but the guy is knowen 4 pulling huge hp (and blows turbos all the time)

WOW! if he is known for blowing turbos he must be really good. i've always thought that being able to damage peoples cars is a sign of a really good tuner... what's his name? my daihatsu needs a quick tune up.

This is an interesting thread

Security: Lets not mislead people into thinking that 50rwkw gains are achievable through the use of an S-AFC, especially on a car like yours that is virtually stock because they arent - end of story.

The ONLY way that you could find that much more power is if your car was running like absolute shite beforehand. The gain is not soley attritbuted to your S-AFC.

It could also be argued that that power figure looks a tad optimistic for an automatic RB25DET with the mods you have listed.

How could you say that Nick , the guy has it all in writing 191.6 kw, ah and he has a big polished fron mount too ....at 102 kmh , that indicates 2nd gear ..... How can you compare power of that car to a manual in 4th gear ... you cant , its just a figure thats all .

Links you are on the money mate 2nd gear with the aid of the torque converter ....

So what are you saying Jerry? Im stating that in order to suddenly realise a gain in power such as this, the car must have been running pretty badly before and Hitman has no doubt corrected various issues to regain lost power, as well as tuning the S-AFC.

Perhaps we can see a dyno reading of how the car was running before the cleanup and tune?

We wouldnt want people to think that an S-AFC with a tune can instantly get you 50rwkw - Thats my point.

My only question is, the "before-tune" figure was under 150rwkw, 147rwkw I think. Would this be a little low considering that the mods were already there?

Maybe something to do with the dyno to generate a lower initial figure? Not 100% sure. When I first dynoed my car in "almost" stock form, it came up with 159rwkw... so it seems a little low. The current setup is getting me 194.6rwkw - maybe his final figure isn't the question, but the intial figure?

    • Not that I know from experience, but in theory you'd want your gate spring to be as close to target pressure as possible, so you'd go with the higher gate spring?
    • Before I commit to it as I already have the wastegate off the car, would you change it to the 9psi spring instead of the 12, or whack it back on now and try your suggestion?   Edit: Actually I might just swap the spring and see what the logs say after another few pulls, as we know it's still spiking without the Mac valve in the picture so I need more data without the Mac valve trying to combat the issue.
    • Sounds good Hmm suppose the main thing is, how much do you care about this car? The filler doesn't make for a very good water barrier lol. If there was a tiny little bit of rust forming now, that in 3 to 5 years time becomes obvious under the paint (starts to bubble up), would it bother you?
    • I already have the ability to datalog the voltage... what I can't do is correlate it to what the gauge is showing when I'm looking at the data at a later date. Or something like this. Except getting the oil to 125C+ involves me going 200+kmh at the track so you can imagine this is a little tricky unless I do something like note what the voltage is when I am at the top of 5th gear so I have a point to reference on. Drove car today. O2 still reading richer because hopefully not a leak instead of massive restriction I've introduced. Car really doesn't sound like a LS. It's quite strange. Pulled a bit of fuel out up top. This does potentially explain why my spark plugs looked like the car was running pretty over-rich. If I was tuning it to a ~12.7 which in reality was far richer than that in the past. It will be handy to have the dyno WB to compare my WB to to compare notes that's for sure. At this point I'm happy to just sit in the passenger seat and tune the thing given I've got about 7 million hours on the platform lol.
    • Yeah I understand you have to pay for an updated map or subscription service or something. But I can't even find a current map for Australia. My map is dated 2017, but didn't this car version still sell in Australia until 2021?   Also, just as an aside, the navigation system warns you of traffic incidences ahead.....why would they include that on a map they knew is not receiving live information. I am forever going to be warned of an incident that probably existed for 30 minutes 8 years ago.
