dezz as soon as u hit 21 and get off ya p's it doesnt make ur an expert driver like you said, HOWEVER :) it does mean you've had 3 years driving experience... and everyone does more crazy stuff on there p's :P

so atleast it would make ppl get most of the crazy stuff out of the way in a slower car :P

Precisely my point, well said mate, get the earliest development driving out of the way in a slower car :)

i hope everyone realised that i was being sarcastic when i said as soon as u hit 22 you're right to drive a turbo car....i was just showing that its bs.

and i had a 4cyl auto 2.2l N/A TX5 since jan last year, and i consider myself a safe driver. ive got my 33 on the way, and just coz it has some power, im not gonna change the way i drive

i dont believe it should make a different on how the car makes power.

power is power. if its over a certain power to weight ratio that its too much power for a plater to control safely. thats the bottom line really.

ok so the rx8 isn't deemed to "powerful", this is because its under the power to weight rule, whats wrong with that? just because it has a factory turbo charger doesn't its instantly not allowed, it should be on power / weight not induction / n/a

there is talk about this but it wont happen, the tmu officer said it him self to me.

But you never know. So as things go for now no one should really be worried about there car being confiscated for driving power to weight, it will only be confiscated if caught drifting, dragging, burnouts lets wrap it up by saying HOON LEGISLATION.

Peace

yeah but para was asking about the new laws that this thread is about....

ban on turbo, V8 and supercharged cars resulting in confiscation.

I think another of the main concerns on v8's supercharged and turbo charged vehicles is they know that all of these engines have much more hp easily acheived with a little bit of $$$ they are all dangerous and i dont care who you are, and what your previous driving record is.

You have the power behind you, there will be times you will use it. Sometimes to overtake some one. Or othertimes just cause you feel silly. You think its safe at the time. But its never really safe on the street.

I've done my fair share of stupid things on the roads, resulting in my licence being cancelled for 12 mths. But the thing is. I could have killed some one, or could of lost control and killed myself.

Speed and power really dont have any place on the roads at all. Really, why do we need anything more than a 2litre n.a?? you need to get to the next set of lights that 1 second faster than everyone else ?

Hmm, i dont beleive so. But meh.

end rant ... no it doesnt make complete sence, but.

too bad :P

meh.

All those people upset about P Platers in powerful cars, what are you gonna do about it? LoL.

I can't see the cops confiscating cars from people becuase of power to weight or other restrictions. It's just going to cause more problems, people would rather run than have their cars confiscated.

meh again.

interesting to see after a few years whether you'll get this problem of ppl just off p's going and 'hooning' around...

who says anyone with a drivers license (considering how easy they are to get) can handle ANY hi-po car? i say if you want to get a hi-po car, get a separate, considerably harder to get and more expensive, hi-po license. Or just intro that for p platers and not full licensed drivers? i dunno...

very old fashion way of looking at a problem like this... i reckon education and training is more the key....

education and training in a slower car is the key :P

yeah then when you get a glimpse at power you have no idea how to control it.....that'll work.

oh, and f**k you miller the hoon :D

and coupe, how safe is it overtaking a semi on a freeway in a 2 litre N/A....not very

why would it not be safe overtaking in a 2 litre n/a. what difference does it make? assuming the truck is at 100km/h and you wish to pass, pull into the right lane and accelerate past them. how is that a valid argument vs power to weight. how silly. and dont tell other people to $f-you as its not nice on a public forum

yeah but its like anything.. you learn the basics first...

allthough i think my issue when i think about :P is you shouldnt get a skyline as ya first car on your p's..

yeah then when you get a glimpse at power you have no idea how to control it.....that'll work.

perhaps if you actually read what he said, you might have chimed in with your comments at the appropriate time.

"f**k all p platers", sorry, but im not gonna take that shit from some drop kick.

and you pull put to pass a truck in 2litre n/a car, a car comes out of nowhere that you didnt see, and you're in a bit of trouble. it wasnt an argument against power/weight, again, if you read coupe this post, you'd see that too

i still dont see how its a valid argument ? so 2litre n/a people should never overtake ?

oh my, what an intelligent comment. :P

im not gonna bother trying to explain it to you after this 1, but with power you can get out of dangerous situations, not just get into them

LoL....2L N/A on one of those double lane highways, that go to Ballarat for example= suicide.

But yeah, it would be better if they required P Platers to attend various driver training courses

    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
    • What sold me on Trailer Park Boys is this scene: Great stuff, just stay clear from the new Netflix production.
