I'm selling my R32 Nismo Edition GTR and I recieved this hilarious email from some "expert" on eBay of all places, thought I'd share it's a good laugh:

"Sorry mate but you may want to research a bit more before you claim something. Nismo never, ever, built factory r32s. In fact the first GTRs they ever released were R34s(10 of i think) which was not too long ago. They bought second hand r34's and did them up. I'm sorry but a previous owner in japan may have added all nismo items(V-SpecII N1) to the car but they were never released by nismo themselves. V-SpecII N1 models made by nissan used some nismo parts, but yours is not one of those. It doesn't even have brembos or V-Spec wheels. Sorry your number on the firewall does not mean 219 out of 400 either, that is part of your VIN/chassis number. Terribly sorry to disapoint you. Hey at least you didn't try and claim that it is 1 of the 100 australian delivered r32's as i actually own one of those. Good ploy though for trying to sell it. cheers"

My reply:

"You've got NO IDEA what you're on about mate.. quite amusing as you seem to think you're some kind of knowledgeable person. Do you mind if I copy your message and post it in my local club forum? The other members will get a kick out of that.

I especially like the bit about the number on my firewall, you've got no idea what you're talking about... hilarious.

Cheers for the good laugh."

Goodstuff...

this does not make any sense because he totally contradicts himself, first he claims the first gtr's were the r34's and then he goes onto say he owns an australian delivered r32, (unless he's so stupid he doesn't realise 'his' r32 is a gtr) funny though, thanks for posting it!

your tyring to sell a 1990 GTR as a 1991? with genuine 37K? how do you know they are genuine? cause the person that sold it to you said so... hmm $33K for what is a pretty standard 32 GTR. also can you tell me how you fitted your master cylinder inside the clutch? that is a pretty neat trick, if you can show me how it will save me some space in the engine bay. although i guess your car must be pretty special as it has more than 1 timing belt and 'front end' bearings?

Glad you're all getting a kick out of this guy..

It was a private "PM" in eBay so there's no public thread, unfortunatly.

His eBay name is "silvergho5t" anyone keen enough could contact him on ebay but he hasn't replied.. It's possible he has actually done some homework.

Relax dude, so I made a typo re: the "master" cylinder and timing "belt" geez...

I'm relaxed i'm just not a huge bullshit fan. c'mon mate, a car you bought for <$20K is now worth $33K? and please, genuine 37Kms... i just find that it's a bit rich to claim them as genuine without any proof. by all means claim it has 37Kms, but saying they are genuine to me implies you have some proof. also how did you comply a 1991 model under the 15yo rule?

First you're trying to tell me how much I paid for my car (<$20K?!?!?)

How do YOU even pretend to know how much I paid for MY car? Maybe you're a mind reader? And I dont give a rats what you find to be "a bit rich". Believe what you want, I have proof for any genuine buyer who looks at the car.

How come you're asking me how I complied a 1991 model under the 15 year rule? I thought you knew everything about my car?!?! Why don't you tell me how I complied it, maybe you also tell me how much that cost me?

What else can YOU tell me about MY car? This thread keeps getting funnier and funnier!! :D

Seriously but mate, mind your own business and go post in a forum that you may be able to help someone in. That's what these forums are for.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
