so yeah.. looks like im joining the ranks of the ceffy owners...

buying a drift set up ceffy, nothing too crazy but with the right gear, it has import approval and what not and when it gets to adelaide i want to comply and register it aso i can drive the bloody thing.

can people give me a detailed rundown on what exactaly needs to be fitted to comply it?

also, in regards to the side intrusion bars, i rather not fork out the 1000 thats needed to get them put in, is there a way (dodgy) around getting it registered without? since they dont check under the door trims.

fill me in guys.

if people in adelaide are able to lend me the required stock parts that would be awesome! Alcohol provided!

Cheers

Simon

Gday Simon - glad you ended up with a cefiro.

There is a good way - don't register it.

What I don't get though is why the f**k wouldn't you want side intrusion bars? You can get kits if you want to save money but sif you wanna be t-boned and find out the hard way that they are used for a good reason.

I'd even argue that they'd be a good idea even if you weren't getting it rego'ed.. I mean you're takin it on the track!!

Other info for complying is available in the regulation/importing section of the forums.

when my R32 got Complyed the dude didnt check the doors... all he looked at was the fuel filler neck dimmer switch (wich i didnt have, and still dont) Zorst, and the mod plate.. and for the belts do what every 1 eles does... rip the japan sticker off it and say there dun.. lol works every time.

Hey Mate

Good to hear ya got a cef they are possibly the best like even better than well you know  :D ,

The S.A fellas are pretty strict on the whole compliance thing i'm sure youd know how they are if youve had any dealings with TSA mob of idiots.

Things that need to be done:

Adelaide Compliance Centre 83690776 he tends to answer his mobile more though 0427717686 he will supply Intrusion Bars, Child Restraints x3, and Fuel Filler neck last time I paid $280.

If your a good welder you can weld these in yourself and have them engineered when done Doug Potts will engineer it for $150 I think it changes with where you live its cheaper just to go to his office in wayville he came to victor harbor for me at that price 82723156.

Cefiro seatbelts pass standard anyways being that they are elrvw as long as there in good nick no tears, frays etc. I think most nissans pass this except silvia rears etc but besides that.

Child restraints are pretty easy lined up with the centre of each seat mounted on flat surface but not to close to the speakers Two pop rivets in each has passed me everytime.

Fuel filler most exhaust shops will do this just pull out the neck and take it to them with the restrictor they flare it out bang it in and walla restricted cost me $5 at my local place last time.

Ceffys height must be 360mm F and 375 R coilovers are legal as long as there set at that height with the dual nut system so they can not be easily adjusted as with single nut coilovers they need a weld in the thread etc this has to be spot on my mate failed cause he had 357 in the fronts there so mean sometimes. :D

Everything else is pretty much the same as a defect inpsection, Yellow lights not allowed to work, power steering reack boots not spilt, all bushes in good cond, no leaks, good tyres, rails straight no major dints thats a pretty major one.

As for the standard gear I also have all that but am about to use it I got defected to low to loud  :) but youre welcome to it when i finish whih should hopefully be within two weeks

Good Luck Buddy

:D Benno

Hello Again

yeah you wont have much leaniency I live 80 summin k's away so they make me visit murram bridgee or they come to Victor, Strath or Goolwa so yer its only if you like way outback that you get the cop shop thing i think even whyalla and port pirie and the like get visits from the inspectors so youll be stuck with a good ol regency inspector from what ive heard the dudes at actual regency are actual doofuses to deal with the fellas ive had out here have been nice and let me off with lil things so i suppose it all depends

Yeah there is no way of avoiding regency.

I used a company called Rory Thompson Eng he carried out all the mods along with a full Engineers report for $1,100 he is in SA . All you need to do then is make the car as standard as possible , suspension needs to be non adjustable and factory height, nice quiet pee shooter exhaust, wheels no bigger than 17" and not to wide.

Unless your lucky enough to find standard Cefiro suspenion , all I did is buy r32 spings and shocks for the rear and 180sx front struts with a 20mm spacer in between the strut and the body of the car for the front, along with some standard wheels.

Borrow a atmo exhaust it will bolt straight up to a turbo Ceffy.

Make sure you have no oil leaks, rust and make sure the chassis rails are straight with no major dents.

Frist time I went through I failed because the ride height was 10mm to low at the front, so I fitted the 20mm spacers.

At regency it all depends on the inspector you get on the day, I had a complete asshole the frist time , second time no worries.

Just try to suck up their ass and you should be fine.

cheers guys, yeah ive been to rory before, charges a bit much for my liking,

ive heard that there are intrusion bar kits available? any more info on these?

i will just try and borrow all the stock items needed and try my luck i reckon, the only bit i really need is the intrusion bars!

intrusion bar kits are available from QLD, although most workshops won't sign them off unless they've fitted them.

Compliance for a cef in melbourne's around $1100 for all 4 door. Although we don't have to have seatbelts changed.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
