Id say maybe the Duplicolour (after reading a victoria-i think-based thread). Seems they had good results, that are still lasting without fade

I have no idea for date and location though

I know for sure that most of the domayne stores are empty because of the buy out from harvey norman.

That said the domayne carpark @ the crossroads near casula is allways empty. It's a big carpark.

There is a Kmart garden centre next door, but, there is a carpark for it.And i highly, highly doubt that there will ever be enuf cars going to kmart garden centre to fill both car parks.

There are others as well. :D

Hi Stan.

Id talk to the front desk.If you can find somwhere give them a call.

But I dont think they will be willing to give up car spaces at a busy carpark.Thats why i suggested an empty unused one like domayne. And the one at casula has a hardware house vitrually next door. And a pub 30sec drive and maccas 2min drive down the road.

talk to a supercheap, repco or autobarn if they will allow the use of their carpark. Its good promo for them because their products will be used to paint the calipers.

Good thinking monkey boy...

only problem with that is spray paint being blown around onto each others, and customers cars.

my mates just bought an empty shop in bankstown to start up his mechanic/spray painting business. he told me last week that the car lift thingeys are coming in, in a few weeks so im assuming it'll be empty till then.

ill speak to him and ask if its alright to use his shop for the day in exchange for a few sausages and a case of beer (organise a bbq??). it'd fit around 15 cars if we wor kit out right, and if its a sunday we could use the carpark??

only problem would be the fumes of everyones spraypaint... and the whole spraying onto everyones car problem.. tell me what you guys think, its not 100%.

noice idea!

If we ever wanted a place to paint. This would be it.

Overspray shouldnt be too much of a problem. As we will be spraying into the wheel arches.Just dont go overboard with the spraying all at once,so overspray doesnt turn into a cloud.

Do any of you have an idea of how we keep the nissan logo silver and not painted??

yeah paint the caliper then spend ages sanding it back it will look great

either that or get some tape and cover it, and then use a razor and cut out the nissan logo

iv done this before so if anyone wants i can come along and help its easy stuff, you just gotta clean the callipers so the paint sticks, and you gotta give the car a bit to cool down before you start painting, so i dont know how it will work, mayb you turn up then have a bbq gives it a while to cool down.

dave.....

ive spoken to my mate and hes actually got all of his tools in there minus all of the hoists.

hes actually taking on work monday-saturday and doesnt feel like sticking around on sundays to supervise (he has to be there, insurance purposes or some shit).

sorry guys, ill keep my eyes open.

I tried painting my calipers while they where still on the disc and its hard and shitty and unless you use alot of newspaper you will get paint on your car.

Its really hard to get the back of the caliper. Your much better off taking them off, brake lines and all and doing it. you get a much more even coat all over and you can replace your pads while your at it.

for the embossed nissan part, i just continually wiped mine as i went then a bit of minor sanding got it all off. i ended up painting it white with a small brush which was really easy.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
