  1. It's normal! Every skyline i've seen has idled at roughly that. I'd grab my manual, but i'm not at home.
  2. Primer - depends on the paint. the vht range come with primer in it. spray it straight on. vht engine paints/caliper paints are high temp. the duplicolour metalcast paints seem to work on the calipers without getting burnt, so it might work on the covers.
  3. Guys, I've had many pms about this phone. As you can see, it's a nice phone and the price is cheap. Someone please just buy it.
  4. what is the japanese frequency range? e.g. in australia, the range for fm is 88ish to about 106ish.
  5. You can make it look better by polishing it, but it'll never look brand new.
  6. Seriously guys, in the span of 2 weeks, there have been about 5 posts on gearbox oil. We've covered the discussion on redline shockproof about 5 times. that's why no one is really answering.
  7. Ok stanny boy, I am the guru on the test. If you want, give me a buzz with any questions, and i'll explain it all to you. I've pmed you my number. But basically, the knowledge test isn't your usual road rules. They exmaine you on statistics. e.g. being a bogan makes you x times more likely to crash. Drinking while getting a blow job is x times more likely to crash. for the other part, it's scenario based where you touch the screen. There is a catch. you have to touch the screen more than once, unlike the green p test which you only have to touch once. there is a special technique to this one. for more info, give us a buzz.
  8. I'd be more worried about scored bores than finding a new turbo. Firstly, somethign must have run through the turbo for it to be like that. The stuff that went throguht he turbo + the bits of the turbo wheel would have then made it into your engine. If that was my car, i'd take off all the intake piping and shake the intercooler out and see if there's anythign in therel. then i'd strain the engine oil and look for particles. Then i'd get a compression test.
  9. Let me give you an example. There are 4 screws on the back of the cluster. if any one of them is lose, the hicas light will come on and you'll drop powersteering. A faulty speedo can do the same. Basically anywhere along the line can cause the light to come on. I hope for your sake that the bar will fix it.
  10. the sunroof weighs heaps. Last sunroof we removed could have weighed up to 20kg from memory.
  11. For some reason, every car that i've ever weighed on a weigh bridge has always weighed significantly more than the quoted weight. They don't have fully sik subs or anything, but for some reason, they all weigh a bit more. Edited: I know why. A lot of the stuff you mentioned wasn't on the car that they originally weigh. e.g. driving lights, floor mats, stock spoiler is lighter, no sunroof etc. I'm not sure how the weight is quoted, but is that full of fluid, full fuel tank etc?
  12. guys, dezz's ones are decent. compare the brightness to that of the other warning lights. With stock bulbs, the speedo light is brighter than the other warning lights. Look at dezz's. They're about the same brightness as the other lights, so they're dimmer than stock. Look at the ones up the top. they're so much dimmer.
  13. Oh, I'd advise you to keep a fire extinguisher handy just in case. I always have a couple of decent extinguishers and a mate handy to spray in case if something goes wrong.
  14. Give him a break. I've done the injectors before, and they're piss easy. All you need is a brain and common sense. e.g. ttake this off, then what is the next logical step. Then do this etc etc. Shit, fuel is pissing out, obviously i'm gonna turn the engine off.
  15. It's called anti squeel shit. go to any auto store lilke repco, supercheapauto, autoone or autobarn
  16. PS: Just because the hicas light comes on doesn't necessarily mean that the hicas is the faulty item. There can be many causes of the light coming on some of which a hicas lock bar will not fix.
  17. If you dont' even know what it looks like, I wouldn't be trying to replace it myself. also, sinec you don't know what it looks like, I wouldn't be trying to diagnose the motor either. just take it to a workshop. If the motor is gone, either get the stock one repaired or get a new one from nissan.
  18. I see massive hotspots, and glare.
  19. yes, it's a valet switch. open the flap. it takes 20 minutes to do! stop thinking about it and do it! lol are you mecahnically minded? if not, just pay your mechanic to do it. at $80 an hour, shouldn't be more than $40.
  20. Um, actually, both of you are incorrect. Before you go calling something full of crap, educate yourself. The electrolytic process releases hydrogen gas. I have seen a car being jump started, and when the guy disconnected the neg cable (incorrectly connected to the battery itself - big no no) there was a fireball that singed his eyebrows). anyways, the electrolytic process releases hydrogen gas, which builds up in the boot. The stock battery has a little hose that vents the gas out through a little grommet in the battery tray floor. Eitehr get one of those venting ones, or a gel/sealed lead acid battery.
  21. Firstly, i'd check the batt voltage with a multimetre. Then i'd check the battery connection both under the bonnet and at the back of the car. when I say check, I mean with a spanner and actually tighten them properly. I blew my central locking motor by driving the car with the battery connection lose (long story short, the motor didn't have enough power to either open or close, and it sat humming in the middle until it shat itself). get back to me with the results of this check.
  22. I always beleive that the attire you wear depends on the job you're applying for. For a security guard job, I don't think it'll matter what you wear. just something NEAT and casual e.g. a polo shirt and dress jeans (not the ripped, multicoloured patchy ones). On the other hand, if you were applying for an office secretary position, i'd wear dress pants, shoes and a nice shirt (with or without tie depending on shirt). On the other hand, if you were applying for a professional position, i'd go full on out with a shirt, tie and suit.
  23. Imagine if you were standing outside your car and you have the lid open. Right in the middle of the bottom section (on the inside), there is a little plastic flap. Inside there, there's a little switch. it's piss easy to flick. No, you don't have to get in the boot. you won't be able to anyways. like I said, i just used a pole to flick it (not on my car, my car's perfect and nothing ever goes wrong. was on my mate's r33). cheers
  24. The thing I don't like about them (i'm not knocking you, because i've done the same thing in my car), is that: firstly, the leds are directional. There are cold spots with less light. secondly, they're dimmer than the stock bulbs. thirdly, the blue doens't light up the needle. I've currently got the wide angle leds in my cluster, but they have all the problems i've said. I'm gonna be making my own to solve the problem.
  25. Rob, if you've never done it before, the bolts are quite tight. I use a 42 cm breaker bar (just a small one), and apply careful force. Be careful and use the bar the right way, so you don't smash your knuckles into stuff.
