  1. Mate, take a look at it, like just take it out. On my r33, it was a t10 bulb - the same as the parker at the front.

  3. Hi everyone I’d just like to share my experience of visiting NBP. Today, I went in to have the radiator flushed and also to have the Auto Transmission filter and fluid changed on my Subaru liberty. For those of you who are not aware of the workshop, it is the joint venture of Stan (Satanic), Trent and Sam. Prior to today, I had met Stan on the odd sau event, but I had never met Sam or Trent before. Ordinarily, I would not bother to write something like this, however, the care and meticulous attention of the boys literally blew me away. They treated my car better than I treat it myself. The treatment put into my car simply cannot be described using words. Firstly, Sam and Trent both know their cars very well. They both have extensive experience working in other workshops. They have the skill and experience to tackle any job ranging from a simple service to rebuilding an engine. If you want to build a beast, talk to Trent and get him to show you his car. Both of them can only be described as perfectionists. How many of you have been to workshops where there is some grumpy old dude working there who doesn’t care about your car? Sam and Trent are both passionate about the work they do. I’ll provide some examples, so you can judge it for yourself. When hoisting the car, Trent lined up the rubber pads, checked it, raised it slightly, checked it again, raised it some more and checked to make sure that it was balanced. Who remembers the Lotus Elise that was dropped off the hoist. There is no way Trent would let that happen to your car. Once the transmission pan was removed, Sam spent about half an hour removing the old gasket from the pan. He literally scraped every single little spec of it off. After cleaning the inside of the pan, it was clean enough to eat off. I thought that the cleaning was complete. If I was to do the job myself, this is where I would have stopped. Sam turned the pan over and it was looking pretty dirty, and there were a few scratches in it that were rusting slightly. Sam got a can of black paint and actually resprayed the pan! As a perfectionist, Sam loves to see machines working in tip top condition. While performing the final check of fluid levels, we noticed that the air con belt was a bit slack, and it was a bit noisy. He even tightened the belt up for me. While we all like to give working on our cars a go, we simply do not have the experience that one gets from working on cars everyday. E.g. My Subaru is old, and it has an oil leak. Just by looking at it, Sam and Trent were able to pinpoint the cause of the oil leak. 4 of the seals on the engine happen to be leaking. I knew that there was an oil leak, but there is no way I’d know the cause of it, because there was just oil everywhere. For those of you that have done a radiator flush before, you’ll know that it’s a pretty messy job. After the job was done, there was a bit of dirt around the engine bay, etc. Sam meticulously went around the engine bay with detailing spray and cleaned it up perfectly. He then cleaned anywhere that he had touched. There was dirt on the carpet that was there before I came in today. I assured him that he didn’t do it, but he cleaned it up anyway just in case if he did do it! If anyone ever needs any work done, do yourself a favour, and go down and see Trent or Sam. You won’t be disappointed. Let them know that I’ve shared my experience with you (My name is Chris), and I’m sure they’ll treat your car the same way. Cheers Chris
  4. I seriously feel for you mate. I'm usually ever so careful. However, I've had the odd mind slip, and when I scratched my wheel, I was so upset. Felt like crying.
  5. I have both. The soarer is auto, so it's great in traffic etc. It's a very nice car to drive around. It has a feeling of excellent build quality. Everything is very thick e.g. panels, doors are mega heavy etc. It doesn't feel sporty though. E.g. handling isn't nimble. It does have plenty of power though, like for cutting onto the highway etc. The skyline on the other hand, is nimble and faster. But it is only a toy for me. I dont' drive it normally. Manual in traffic is annnoying. Also, it's not refined like the soarer. e.g. if i feel like a comfortable drive, i'll drive the soarer. If I feel like going for a 'fang' or a spririted drive throug the twisties, i'll drive my skyline on the weekend.
  6. I don't think the car is a lemon. I think you stuffed something up. My rule of thumb, is only do one thing to the car at a time, so that I know what the problem is. If you go like oh yeah, change this change that, you don't know which one of your 'repairs/mods/upgrades' stuffed it. Try and trace back what you've done. e.g. have you accidentally unplugged the afm or knocked it lose? anythign can make it hunt and stall. I once left off the oil filler cap and it hunted and stalled. I once didn't put the dipstick down fully, and it was hunting. Imo, Take it to a workshop
  7. This phone is still for sale. Seriously, this is small, lightweight, and has features. It's brand new delivered to your house. Snap it up for christmas. I can't really lower the price anymore, because i've already slammed it. I want it gone.
  8. Helper sprins aren't going to allow you to make it go higher. They are just to keep the spring captivated when the shock is raised longer. Also, being dirty doesn't mean they're stuffed. Also, don't judge a book by it's cover. I read an article in a magazine about how the japs clean the coilovers to make them look like new. So just because they might look good doesn't mean they're good.
  9. Ok ok, I will help to explain it to you. Just hold it right there. Cefiro strut/shock units are longer than s13 units for a start. These after market suspensions are lower than standard s13 height. e.g. on an s13, it might be lower than standard height, but the adjustment will allow it to be adjusted up fairly high anyways. However, because the cefiro struts are longer than s13 struts, even at the highest setting, it's still very low. Many other cefiro owners have found this. how low is it though? if it's not too low, it's good. Also, in regards to you saying it has no travel, how do you know it has no travel? Did you use the fully sik o metre and just hold the coilover on the ground and just try and push it down? Have you tried to do that with the stock suspension? I have tried it on several, and I can't move it. I don't think you can exert the force required to move it. The way to find out if it's travelling is by attaching a cable tie aroudn the rod and see if it moved after driving (it most likely is).
  10. Um, the Kunjeng and Rasr, those were excellent posts trying to help him diagnose his problem. I've had a hks pod before. It made massive induction noise. For it to have suddenly stopped making that noise, there must be something wrong. Now, I don't know how mecahnically minded you are. I have a friend who always thinks there is something wrong with his car. Is the noise actually totally gone? or just softer? Did it just stop one day suddenly? or it's softer over time? Bov blocked/seized or turbo blown. That's all I can think of.
  11. Mushroom filter - is that the hks one? Does your car still haev power? maybe the turbo blew.
  12. xizor will tell you how long they last.
  13. Black is my favourite. When polished, looks like a mirror. Unlike other lighter colours. When you polish them, although they are 'shiny' they don't show reflections like black.
  14. I disagree with you. I didn't want to start talking physics, but sound is not a particle. I've included some basic information below about the nature of sound waves: First, there is a medium which carries the disturbance from one location to another. Typically, this medium is air; though it could be any material such as water or steel. The medium is simply a series of interconnected and interacting particles. Second, there is an original source of the wave, some vibrating object capable of disturbing the first particle of the medium. The vibrating object which creates the disturbance could be the vocal chords of a person, the vibrating string and sound board of a guitar or violin, the vibrating tines of a tuning fork, or the vibrating diaphragm of a radio speaker. Third, the sound wave is transported from one location to another by means of the particle interaction. If the sound wave is moving through air, then as one air particle is displaced from its equilibrium position, it exerts a push or pull on its nearest neighbors, causing them to be displaced from their equilibrium position. This particle interaction continues throughout the entire medium, with each particle interacting and causing a disturbance of its nearest neighbors. Since a sound wave is a disturbance which is transported through a medium via the mechanism of particle interaction, a sound wave is characterized as a mechanical wave.
  15. "Higher School Certificate (or equivalent) with a pass in 2 unit Mathematics" That's hardly 'good at maths'. Try doing uni actuarial maths.
  16. Oh course it does. You said that the sound particles 'dispense their energy'. How? by slowing down. As you said, it passes through the packing material. The restriction may not be noticeable on a mildly modded car. That is, it might not be a restriction at X power level. e.g. at 200 rwkw, a 3" exhaust flows heaps, so any difference might make 5 rwkw difference. However, on some of those 1400 bhp japanese gtrs, having a straight through setup with only one cannon at the end, or two oval mufflers will make a lot of difference.
  17. Also, when you say drift, are you actually trying to do it properly? or are you just doing some fully sik shkids around on the road? If you're doing it on the road, obviously, it's more difficult, because it's narrow, and you'd be scared of running into things/cars/people.
  18. semis on the rear = more traction at rear. The rear of the car does not want to slide. normal tyres at the front = less traction at front than rear. Therefore, the front will plough outwards when you're trying to drift. Traction should be the other way round. what are your alignment settings?
  19. From his posts, he's looking to power up his r33 gtst. He doesn't want to sell it and buy an r ugly poo (32). nor does he want to build a ricebox. Many of the posts haev been spot on the money. Personally, if it was me, i'd want to build an all round car. I'd settle with a highflow turbo putting out around 250 rwkw on the stock motor. I wouldn't bother with the port and polish/head gasket as mentioned above. Of course, the usual supporting mods such as fuel pump, injectors (possibly, or just fpr), full exhaust, fmic, air filter, tune etc. I'd spend the rest on handling mods, to make the car able to utilise the power, e.g. suspensions, castor, camber, swaybars, brake pads, brake fluid, brake mc brace, braided lines, guages, seat, harness etc.
  20. There is no such thing as 'drone'. The sound that you don't like is basically the loudness. If you fit an oval muffler, why is there less 'drone'? because it's simply softer. So there's nothing wrong with a cannon. They work. They do what they're supposed to do, and that is, not 'muffle' the sound as much, and thus allow more noise through. If you want less 'drone', muffle the sound by fittign a more restrictive exhaust, such as an oval muffler, and/or a centre muffler.
  21. Nice move. Get rid of that r ugly poo (32)
  22. It is near impossible to answer that. There are so many variables e.g. how grippy were the tyres? gradient of the road? How evenly the weight was spread in the car? how heavy the car was? e.g. were there passengers? speed? how quickly they turned? the height of the car? you get my drift (excuse the pun ) but it's basically impossible to answer that. I would say though, that having driven 4wds, they are taller, and once the centre of gravity falls outside the base of the wheels, it'll tip. but you'd have to be pretty unlucky to tip it at 40 kph. especially considering that since it's just a normal road sissy 4wd, it'll probably have fairly ungrippy cars, and it'd be more liekly to slide out than flip (if it's easier to slide, it will slide, if it's easier to flip, it'll flip). So who was at fault exactly? what happened? if they just swerved you, and flipped, isn't that tough cookies for them?
  23. Actually, you know what? I want this phone gone. $130 isn't cheap, but $100 delivered is. This phone is tiny, looks good, has features. Why not buy it as a second phone? buy it as a present for someone?
  24. Don't like 140? how about 130 including postage to your door?
  25. so do you actually need to have a cams licence? or can you get a day licence? I haven't really researched into the way cams licencing works.
