The True R33 Gearbox Oil Capacity?
MANWHORE replied to _Scotty_'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
NO NO, don't drain it. hope i've managed to catch you in time. Just jack it level, like have it on 4 stands. Then start filling it until it starts coming out of the filler hole ever so slightly (as in dont' pump it like crazy until it pours out of the hole). Then, it'll be a good 3.5+L. Do you have an rb25 box? or an rb20 box? if it's an rb20/rb30 box, they are substantially smaller and take approx 2ish L instead of the 3.8 Cheers -

Clutch burn has a very nasty smell. Can you smell anything? -
The True R33 Gearbox Oil Capacity?

Did you have the car flat? as in dead level? I've managed to put 3.5-3.6L in. 3.8 is the correct amount assuming that every drop is drained. -
Only one way to find out. If you have consult, run it and check. If not, run the diagnostic process, and see what fault code it brings up using by flashing the check engine light.

Easiest would be to just take off the back seats and open the panel. Then flick the switch. I've done it before on another car. I've taken the back seats in an r33 out in 10 minutes. Removing the panel took <5 minutes. Use a short pole to flick the lever and bob's your auntie. Then you can take it to the locksmith to have the lock repaired.

3.7-8 L is the capacity. It's pretty hard to drain it all. My box took approx 3.5L of oil. Castrol VMX 80 is the recommended oil in the shop manual. Costs approx $50 for 4 L from memory. I'm personally using motul gear 300 (fully synth). RRP of $29 for 1L so 120 for 4L. Redline Shockproof is also good at $90-120.

NBP have worked on all sorts of cars ranging from sam's holden to Trent's rx3, to skylines, there's a gtir in the back. They would have no trouble workingn on a wrx. I took my subaru liberty there. I'm just trying to save up some more money at the moment, so I can go get more work done.

Hey guys I have for sale a Sony Ericson t230 mobile phone. It is NOT locked to any network. This phone would be great as a second phone, a phone for your kids, or for you to pop your sim into for those times that you dont' want to damage or lose your good phone. e.g. who has gone out drinking before and dropped their good phone? or who works as a trady/mechanic etc, and come home from work with your phone all grubby? Condition (Brand new): This phone was given to me by Sony Ericson as a warranty replacement. As such, the phone itself is brand new. I can provide the original receipt and the warranty job sheet (22/12/06). The phone itself still has the protective plastic on the front screen and there is not a single blemish on the phone. The rear battery cover appears to have a few blemishes on it, but apart from that the rest of the phone is perfect. Description: The phone is a candy bar style phone. It is very small measuring 101 x 44 x 19 mm and weighing 79.2 g. It has a massive battery life of 300 hours standby or 12 hours talktime. The phone has colour screen, colour wallpapers, polyphonic ringtones (can also use songs), mms, java games, wap. The phone comes with: the phone, the battery, the rear battery cover, the charger, the original receipt and the warranty job sheet (to show you that this is a new phone). Information on the phone: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=glo...1&pid=10093 Location: Sydney Price: $60 ono including postage to your door Contact: Pm or call me on 0403 211 482 (Chris)

If only you were in sydney, i'd be able to help you out. I've had a couple friends with issues like yours, and basically, we just ran through checking all of the usual culprits, and eventually it was fixed.

Also, maybe take the cover off your ecu, and see whethe rit's a chipped jap one. the map might be totally wrong for australian fuel. Does it feel like it's running very low timing, like have you felt rich and retard before? does it feel like that? Also, have you ran an error check for fault codes on ecu?
-
I was thinking either misfire or rich and retard. If it's not misfire from spark related issues, then I woulda thought rich and retard (when the ecu sees too much airflow), but you're only running 7psi boost. Is it definitely 7psi boost (not insulting your intelligence, but you're not looking at the +7 on the stock guage are you?). As silver was saying, have you checked the timing with a light? Cheers

Is This Normal For An Lsd?
MANWHORE replied to Eug's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I was only joking about the gaytr bit. i used to call the one we had a gaytr. But yeah, that's the difference i noticed between the gtr and the gts. I've put the gtr into a mega beach before, so much so that you'd think it was stuck, and it still managed to move. with the gts, in a similar situation, there'd be a fair bit of wheelspin. -
I don't think there's anything wrong with the oil. For the pressure to double, that would have to be pretty majorly wrong. That nulon oil is good stuff. It could be anything mate. tempamental sensor? Or guage a bit lazy for a moment. Just see if it happens again with this lot of oil.
-
Sounds like the oil sender/guage is faulty. Best bet would be to use a second guage to confirm that to make sure that it's not a major issue. I don't think it's the oil pump, because if the oil pump was going, the oil pressure would be low, not high. on idle, it should be around 2. If it's up at 4, that's reading twice as much, so i'd think it's the guage/sender

To stop the fluid goi ng everywhere, you can clamp the line. Keep in mind, if you remove the caliper, if you don't know what you're doing (doesn't sound liek you do), you won't have any brakes when you turn the car back on. if you remove the caliper, you'll have to bleed the fluid.

Gun, it's a bit different for you, because you have a gaytR. Even if both of your back wheels were off the ground (dunno how that'd happen, but anyways), you still wouldn't be beached. Torque would just kick in at the front. I think they're more talking about beaching of rwd cars with stiff suspensions. -

does a pulsar even have an lsd? I thought fwd cars were just open wheelers? -
I'd also like to add that NBP have a welder, grinder etc. So should anything need to be modified slightly e.g. makign a bracket for fmic install, trent will have no problems.
-
No, you can't turn them with your fingers. The gear wheels are locked. I've tried it. Basically, what it ends up doing it making it so that they don't turn anymore. I always find learning things interesting, so the reason I did it, is to learn how they work.
-
Agreed But going back to the thread topic, It's a tough one. Either $800 for a new cooler. Or spend half a day flushing it a hundred tmies until there is absolutey nothing in it.

Kinks, that is exactly what i was thinking. But, the thing I wasn't sure about, is how eug was asking about reverse. That is, whether the lsd works the same way in reverse. I'm not sure about that.
