  1. What you have said there is spot on the money. Getting a cooler without a thermostat certainly does make the oil take longer to get up to temp. In relation to poor quality components, I would like to make a correction in that Asian parts are often stereotyped as being of poor quality. Asians love to reverse engineer stuff (take it apart), learn from it and copy it. As they have very cheap labour there, they can make very high quality components. Parts made by bogans are of no better quality. As I have often seen, aussie stuff is often overpriced, and of a poor quality. Take holden adn ford as an example. I have owned both, and have had nothing but trouble. After my dad bought a toyato camry, I vouched never to buy a holden or ford again.
  2. I dunno about the water. Oil isn't soluable in water. I'd probably go about it flushnig it the same way as an intercooler. Metho and a bit of kero/turps mixed. Just swish it, and the yucky oil with crap should come out.
  3. Paul, like I said above, when doing a power run, the intercooler will not really get that hot, so any improvement in cooling won't be noticeable. The imrpovement comes from reduction in restriction. The cross area of the new core is significantly larger: New core: 50325 mm squared Old core: 30000 mm squared
  4. yeah, that's what I was saying. I was saying that the reduction in restriction increases power. At 350awkw power levels, the numberis larger.
  5. Paul, I believe it. The thing that most people miss when installing a larger IC is reduction in restriction. I'll use the analogy of upgrading the stock IC. When people upgrade the stock ic to a fmic, they usually see an improvement in power. The improvement is not so much from an improvement in cooling. Yes, the air will be cooler, but at stock turbo power levels, it doesn't really get that hot. The power increase comes from a reduction in restriction. It is restrictive at that power level. In this case, at 350awk, the new IC is clearly less restrictive. I don't know if 30 kw is believable, but i would certainly expect some improvement at that power level. Depending on what the old exhaust was, e.g. if it was a 3" exhaust with a couple of mufflers, a cat, etc, then that result is perfectly valid. Replacing a restrictive exhaust at 350awkw with a less restrictive one will produce significantly higher power levels, because of the larger number to start with.
  6. Jago - When I purchased those tyres, I bought 8 of them. The ones for sale are brand new and never driven on. But the other ones I had worked really well. Seriously, the price is a bargain price, because if you head over to tempe tyres (which basically sell the cheapest tyres in australia), for 125, all you can buy are nangkangs, and they are pretty bad. doriftee - pm replied.
  7. Oil sandwitch plate is now sold. Thanks lineskee 33. Everything else is still available. Someone buy the tyres. I want my bedroom space back! I woulda used them, but i don't have 16" wheels anymore.
  8. Man, that's tricky because you've done so many mods at once. My rule is do one at a time so that you know which one causes problems. I reckon rich and retard, or high rpm misfire due to coil or spark related issue.
  9. um, it will slip. Like under load in 4th, the revs might increase if you stamp it up a hill, but the speed won't. it will get worse and slip in 3rd, then in 2nd, then you'll be crawling along at 20km/h and it will be slipping, then you won't be able to move at all when it finally dies.
  10. Yeah, it's common. My theory is that the synchros are proportinoally too small and not strong enough compared to the size and strength of the gears.
  11. Oh, I didn't read it carefully enough. I don't know about the lsds in the reverse situation. Does the same thing happen if you're trying to go up a wonky driveway forward and one wheel almost lifts off the ground? like do you get beached? My friend's skyline with the viscous lsd will get beached when going forward because of the worn lsd. He has to just reverse back and take a different angle.
  12. Are the old belts actually looking tired? or are you just replacing them to be sure?
  13. check the tutorial section. there is a tut there in the top stickied post.
  14. A decent oil cooler is not 300$. If you get a 300$ one, it's likely to leak, and might have crappy construction and actually release metal into your engine.
  15. CCP - the skyline ones are very unique, with all this strange bracketing etc. do the shops just sell generic ones? or actually oem replacements for the skyline? If so, I might need to pick myself up some fresh ones. The old ones work, but they're not that strong considering gtr spoilers are heavy.
  16. It looks like plastic. Bad luck matey. You can try filler primer and paint. My favourite with plastic and fibre bumper repairs is plastibond from the hardware store. It's strong, adheres well, and is easy to sand.
  17. Quarantine does nothing other than take your money. Hmmm... Most likely the car is a bit old and it might have a few leaks. They probably used a bit of sealer to seal the leaks e.g. in the boot. e.g. sikaflex or silicon. Either that, or it's just dirt.
  18. Yeah, that's pretty standard for a typically worn viscous lsd. What about if you give it more juice? the wheel that is already spinning will spin more, but does it make the other wheel actually turn and move the car?
  19. Linksee, pm replied. Everything listed is still available except the wheels.
  20. Mate, check out all of the usual shops. If they don't have it, ask them to get it in for ya. I just bought a meguirs claying kit. $35 at supericerauto. Autobarn also have it. I am in sydney, but all of the shops should be the same. I am yet to have used it, but going by meguir's track record, I find that their prep products are OK. I just don't like their waxes, because they don't last very long.
  21. Hammer and bog? come on mate, that dent isn't that big to need bog. That shit'll buff right out with a bit of elbow grease.
  22. Yep, I checked them. Atf was good. Radiator needed just a little bit more of my special overpriced water in the overflow as the final few bubbles came out
  23. Guys, thanks for the interest. There have been a few pms about the phone lately. Snap it up for christmas. i've priced it for an awesome present.
  24. Look down about 5 posts, about my expereince with NBP.
