  1. You forgot to tell him that he needs to make sure it is TDC on the compression stroke. If it is in exhaust stroke then he will be 180 degrees out. An easy way to tell is get someone to turn the engine over and hold your finger over the plug hole on #1(obviously you will need to remove plug #1). As the compression stroke comes around, the piston will force air out of the plug hole. Then you can keep turning the crank around until the mark on the pulley lines up with TDC....That is true TDC. Once you have that you can then locate #1. Then turn the crank some more with the distributor cap off so you can see which direction the rotor button moves in.
  2. of course a different impellor is going to be a problem, if your clearance is wrong then you risk destroying the pump and your engine. I have a spare water pump which I am looking at right now. If you can post a picture of your pump then I will tell you if it is the same. Otherwise you are gonna have to buy the right one (preferable).
  3. WD40 is the worst thing you can spray it with as it will leave a residue on the wire and distort the reading. Maybe even damage the AFM. Use something like Carby clean or throttle body cleaner or for a more expensive alternative, try using that Contact crap.....never WD40 though.
  4. you got too much friggin money man!
  5. you need a spiggot bearing puller, this will pull that sleeve out. there is another option. But you have to be really careful. Get a die grinder with a carbide bur. you can gently machine a section away until it is thin enough to break....but you must be very careful so you don't score the crank. The grease thing won't work in that case, really only good for the manual one. Another way would be to take it to your local exhaust shop and get one of the guys to tack a piece of wire to the sleeve. then you can pull it out. also the heat from the weld will help to free it up but won't be anywhere near enough to damage the crank...just make sure the guy knows what he is doing and explain it thoroughly first.

    Desperate!

I am in desperate need of an Air Flow Meter for an RB20 DET If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated.
  7. Ok, Paragon and Del sol, are you in Brisbane or relatively close by? If so, location please. Suburb or whatever. And a contact number. Looks like the 20th will be the date as GTST25 will be receiving his on this date. I am going to have to organise a location to meet Paragon and Del sol before this date or on this date. (I'm not even sure what day it is yet). Doesn't really matter. I can pick them up on any day. All pumps don't have to be picked up on the same date if it is not convenient for you. But close to it would be preferable. One last note...please don't stuff me around. If you have said DEFINATE in your post then I will be ordering on the fact that you definately want one. I don't want to have to fork out money because someone pulls out at the last second. Coz I will be most upset about having another one. These will be DEFINATELY Bosch 044 pumps in their box sealed and everything. From my experience though, you may have to go to the hardware to get a 5mm and a 6mm nut for the terminals as Bosch in their infinite wisdom, don't supply them for their own pumps. So far I have GTST25, Del Sol and Paragon. At $300 a pump I would have thought people would be clawing at each other to get them. Obviously not. Quickly people..20th approaches fast. I will be ordering them on the 15th so any stragglers can come in before then. Don't worry everyone. You can still get one after this date...it'll just be $350 (which is still friggin cheap I might add) Plus I can still get the 040's pretty cheaply too if you can't afford the 044.
  8. 1 gallon is around 4 litres
  9. hahaha that's so funny Then they can bring back that add that says..."must be stuck in third" cept you could ave grandma in her corolla instead.
  10. Problem really is....how many ***hed cops are gonna pull people over in those. Not like us....see the roundies and we're done for. Put a set of skyline tail lights on it and I bet they would ban em.

    Rant!

That's fuct up man. As if people haven't got anything better to do with their lives than to annoy others. What does it prove doing a burnout anyway? The guy's a tosser is all can say!!
  12. Don't change the loom. Just clean them up and send them back saying that they were not the series 2 coil packs that you ordered
  13. Is it the pintara with eight plug leads (4 cylinder)?
  14. sometimes the metal clutch can make this sound when it engages. or the bearing is had it in the compressor. Not too hard to remove. If the belt tension is ok then I'm betting this is your problem.
  15. also check your carrier bearing (in gearbox) When these flog out they make a windy sorta noise.
  16. it's acurate. And a blower motor is your fan...inside.
  17. CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN SPINS FREELY WHEN THE CAR IS HOT!!! Does it get louder in 2nd and third at roughly the same RPM ie..Does the noise sound the same at 3000 rpm in every gear or does it sound louder in first at 3000 than it does in 3rd at 3000? if the noise is the same at these rpm's then look for something that doesn't spin at the same revolution as the engine (turbo maybe) On a sad note...it could be your main or big end bearings. Is it a WINE-DEE noise or a WIN-DEE noise?
  18. The gearbox is gonna cost you a packet so if there is nothing wrong with it at the moment, don't touch it coz it's only $300 to remove and refit one anyway if it does stuff up in like 1000 years.
  19. you sholdn't need a metal head gasket as the standard nissan unit is quite happy to service 750 hp. Same with the water pump...as if And a couple of hundred for belts and whatever else is not enough. Should always alow 500 for the extra stuff like heater hoses (which you must change if you haven't already)
  20. yeah, I got the same problem. And unless you fitted a brand new AFM then it is highly likely that it will happen again. most of them are like 14-15 years old now so it's getting hard to find good ones.
  21. No, it won't be all good The ticking noise is (99%) your lifters which are located underneath the cam rockers. What sort of car is it? They must fill up with oil to work correctly. What happens is the oil drains from them and the pressure releases from them causing the space between the rocker and the lifter to get larger. This is the tapping noise you can hear...this is also why they are sometimes refered to as tappets. You're ones won't be tappets though. They will be hydraulic lifters most probably. The thing that bothers me is that lifters usually only make a noise when you first start the car, when the oil pressure is low and there is no oil at the top of the engine. But you said no noise when you first start it, then it comes in after a while. Then goes away when you start driving it. Does it do it every time you start it or just from when it has been sitting for a long time (stone cold)? Check to see if the noise is coming from the top of the engine or the bottom(very bad if from bottom). See if you can hear it on both sides of the engine. Does the sound go away when you just rev it in neutral or do you have to be driving for it to go away? Does the noise stay there if you just let it sit and idle or does it eventually go away? Do you park on a hill? Does the front of your car face north or east? (nah just kidding, just seeing if you were paying attention). With the idle thing, he would have adjusted what is called the IAC valve (Idle Air Control Valve) It is the valve which lets air bypass the throttle when it is closed to let the vehicle idle. He should not have adjusted this as usually (in the skylines anyway) it can cause problems with the valve sticking. In summary....the blow off valve will most probably have nothing to do with the noise (don't rule it out though). Try to 1: locate the noise and 2: describe better what is sounds like(with your head under the bonnet and 3: write back and tell me what you have found. Or you can call me on 0418 770 716 and I can speak to you in person. My name is Daniel. Hope this helps.
  22. If there aren't any leaks and the res is full, does it make any noise when you turn the steering whilst the car is stationary? Also, silly question but is the belt still on the pump?
  23. by head flange I'm assuming you mean exhaust manifold to head flange? What do you consider overpriced?
  24. Hi, my name is Daniel and I have been 5hitbox sober for 2 years now. I drive a Black R32 GTST. No wing and the word skyline highlited in red on the back. ROSS sticker on windscreen and Evolution Racing on back. My AFM is stuffed right now so my car don't go too fast. DO IT!
