  1. Ah yep, fair call - in that case, it seems both cars have it in them at this stage to nudge that 7.56... its unbelieveable that the 7.6 mark has been broken by two cars, given how long it took to beat HKS' old time. We must be almost due to hit the 7.4, I had really hoped HT would do it at Jamboree given they've shown everything (first half track time, and trap speed) required to do so - now it all needs to happen in one run. Good to see Godzilla finally basically shoulder to shoulder now, this should make things more interesting
  2. If it were that easy, one or the other of the two guys will have already done it.... I know HT have the power available (remember they've gone >190mph on occasions - including the famed 7.59 @ 191mph record breaking 500+m run they did in 2006) and I am sure Godzilla do too, its the whole using it effectively which seems diabolical with these cars and both teams are in a class of their own in terms of what they've achieved so far... and without changing things so much that so long as they're sticking to the remaining fundamental elements which make them a GTR at heart (ie, RB/IRS/AWD) I can't see any smashing going on so much as whittling down.
  3. The 91/79 is a huge turbo - that amount of lag isn't too surprising... considering I'd not be surprised if an 88/75 punched as hard as a T04Z. GTScoTT - when I first became interested in these turbos they were known as Schwitzer S300s etc, it seems when they started being sold as BW turbos the name convention changed but some people (ie, Bullseye power) who sell them seem to have stuck with the old Schwitzer naming. The naming Borg Warner use is much more informative, and closer to the current Garrett convention (ie, exducer size). Last weekend after indulging in a bit of rum we decided to pull out some of the turbos that were floating around the house (and a random Honda City turbo for styles sake), the result was a few size comparison pics which might be interesting in this thread. The turbos in question are a Borg Warner S300SX 83/75 with .91a/r T4 twin scroll turbine housing, a Garrett GT3582R with an ATP 1.06a/r T4 twin scroll housing, and a stock Series2 R33 turbo
  4. Pretty sure I have mentioned these before in regards to being an ideal affordable turbo when the Kandofandom was getting hysterical and it wasn't really heard. I unfortunately have no results to directly share but they are well documented on various international forums.. I would happily run one The only thing to bare in mind with the S300s is they are physically quite large. The S372 is a big bugger, I cbf checking but would guess the S366 to be 8875 equivalent. The 83/75 should be Gt3582r like in performance, on an RB25 if you are looking at results typical of folks here I would look at the S256.
  5. Awesome work Godzilla MS, seriously close now!! zebra- Record is 7.56 @ 184mph, HT lowered it slightly a couple of months ago and sooner or later hopefully will pull everything together in one run
  6. Here's a suitably ridiculous result from an EVO in the states running a new Precision PT6766 (.82a/r hot side) at just over 40psi on E85: Mustang Dynos read in the territory of Dyno Dynamics, they are not generous dynos at all - to put down 850awhp/634awkw this is a ridiculous piece of machinery. Imagine one on an E85 slurping RB30?
  7. Awesome, this is going to be quite interesting
  8. Out of interest sake, Precision are now releasing versions previously with the "65" hotside with a "66" billet "CEA" turbine, which they claim more hp with similar or better response. This means the PT6265 and PT6765 could be superceeded with the PT6266 and PT6766...
  9. Yeah I was wondering about that too, ECU sounds like it CLAIMS its doing everything right - fuel pressure sounds right, something "lying" is the next most likely option.
  10. Try to look at the issue with a wider view.
  11. He's only saying 35psi because he's exagerrating from the fact most of the PT results he'd have seen would have been from shxtty 4cyls which NEED 30+psi to get around 600whp. They do still definitely tend to have a bit of a high boost bias over the standard GT series Garretts though, more aligned to higher boost for the equivalent power levels than Garretts you'd go for to make the same power. On an RB26 I'd expect a PT6265 to be not too bad, though I'm dubious that it'd spool as good as - let alone better than a GT35R, albeit not necessarily much in it. The ForcedPerformance HTA range are worth a look, too...
  12. Given the people involved, the diagnostics they have been resorting to and generally giving them credit I'd think (or hope) that its almost insulting to make these suggestions on the assumption they weren't the first points of call. It'd be very interesting to see a datalog file as the car warms up, however - if that were a possibility?
  13. Under what conditions would it "lean itself out"? Was it only idle, or under load, or everything? Just trying to work out whether you should be trying to resolve an issue with too much fuel, or conversely - not enough air going through the engine as the conditions change for some reason.
  14. Rolls, seems we think similar - you've been spouting ideas I've pondered in the last decade or so and (in most cases unfortunately) then abandoned due to finding out they either exist, are impractical, or just aren't actually sound as I research and learn more. Keep it up! Sooner or later you may find you come across something that hasn't been hit on, or even something that has been hit on, used, and forgotten about due to various reasons but turns out to be a good idea again - if nothing else, having a brain is pointless if you aren't exercising it
  15. Sorry to hear, and good luck getting it all sorted!
  16. Cheers, and I am sure it will be fine... for some reason I thought you were going GTX
  17. Just as a reminder (I've tried searching through the thread but there are changes throughout it), what turbo setup including hotside, turbo and engine spec is this now?
  18. Very much looking forward to seeing how this comes out, should be good
  19. What am I missing, why would the 20G Kando turbos need a manifold? They do internally gated T3 20Gs targetted at being bolton for Skylines?
  20. You are the one that name called, and I wasn't saying that was the differences so much as saying you could safely expect at least that much...
  21. Its the width of the compressor map that inspires me to say that more than the outright power numbers - will be interesting to see what kind of power the EFR8374 lets through when not pumping 2+bar through it.
  22. Maybe I am wrong on this - I was sure I've seen snapshots of this part of the map, so you are saying that regardless of the AFM signal etc there is a certain amount of timing pulled and fuel added? I would have thought this would have been more noticeable in a standard car, but you stand on the gas with the stock boost control etc and have no issues.... then add airflow and suddenly have the massive detuned sensation.
  23. Rich and retard as others have stated are just an area of the factory map which would normally be called a "hole" a poor tuner had left in a map - but argueably done intentionally when airflow gets high in parts of the rev range for reasons best known to Nissan. Possibly done to protect the engine? Not that I know of anyone having reliability issues when tuning the car properly in those zones. I think it was a stupid way to let the car leave the factory, personally. Short Samoan guys would be a good bunch to avoid in the first instance: Best policy is not testing the waters to find out, as naturally the one who does will no doubt be the one you didn't expect to be able to.
  24. Lets put it this way, those GT2530s will not be the cause you are topping out at that power - they go way past that power level on Dynapacks with no issue at all. There could be a very good chance that instead of rebuilding them, you put on a completely different turbo setup and get very similar results due to the fact it won't be the turbos causing it... unless you turn out to not actually have GT2530s of course.
