  1. Here is an interesting comparison, someone in Subaru world went from a 1.03a/r Gen1 GTX3582R to a 1.03a/r Gen2 GTX3584RS with everything else the same spec.
  2. They just quote some arbitrary hp number which annoys me no end, if you run a "705hp" Precision turbo on a diesel engine you are not going to make anywhere NEAR that power - though if you remove that turbo and then put it on a serious engine running "FTW Black" race fuel you could end up making 900-1000hp - yet on both engines it could have been completely at choke flow. Even "lb/min" really is a slightly crap rating for air flow, the whole "corrected gas flow" thing is all well and good when Borg Warner, Garrett, Holset etc all use different standards for defining what mass air flow is moved in whatever conditions.
  3. It's normal mate. Even the EFR 7064 does it. When is the 9174 going on ?
  4. That's seriously gutting, sorry to hear man
  5. Yeah, I did a 12.6 @ 180kph with ~270kw @ hubs with my R33 GTS25t with a ~1.91 60ft time.
  6. What kind of times and trap speeds were you getting, that aside? Trap speeds usually give an idea of where you could end up still
  7. How is idle etc? The delivery really looks quite good
  8. Interesting, same as the 9.25mm lift 264s - so to confirm, they are definitely 260 advertised duration?
  9. Nice - cheers for sharing, I'm guessing the newest are the 182Rs? Considering the power they are making they delivery very very well everywhere! Edit: They really are custom... there is nothing to that spec on the website, what specs are they?
  10. EFR8374 on a 2.6 with VCam and E85, just under 500kw and epic fun. Not hugely cheap but definitely responsive, definitely fun.
  11. My pleasure man, I don't normally point people away from their normal sources but it seemed like it was being WAY more difficult than it should be - typing a few words at a couple of people and seeing a great outcome for so little effort definitely floats my boat I figured you'd hold off on commenting until it arrived - you can see why I have no issue making such a strong vouch for them! Btw, just told Paul it's arrived, he wasn't actually expecting it to arrive there for another day or so haha - must have timed the shipping etc well Post results, please!
  12. Wow, that is pretty serious!!! Look forward to seeing how this comes out, there has been a lot of hard sell for these and if it it works out well it should make some big power with decent response! Big motor spec and E85 hopefully?
  13. Won't be on the dyno this weekend, not sure when we will be able to do that but expect months to be a more appropriate measure for what to expect than days. Have you adjusted the dwell to suit the LS2 coils ?
  14. Me too. The weather etc tonight wasn't conducive to much more testing than this
  15. So the owner of the 25T with the EFR7064 just installed a Turbosmart dual-port actuator and we dialled all the duty out of the boost control and went for a quick hoon - this is with basically no effort made to do anything other than make boost try and hit 18+psi and hold it, this is the only log I saved but proves the concept. It took minimal effort to make it hold 18+psi to redline, which is ideal.
  16. The car I've been working on runs an EFR7064 which is the same frame as a 7670 and it fits fine, definitely better than GT3076Rs etc.
  17. If you do this I'd be really interested to know how these numbers and the overall comparison plays out in the real world - would you be sharing results?
  18. Exactly. And Shane = advanced knowledge on basically everything he is working with, not just processing the datalogs.... I've had some pretty extensive conversations with him over the years and there is so much which happens before the engine is even fired and run to the point there is any data. One of his strengths is despite the sheer guru/legend level he has reached he doesn't assume he is always going to be right, but tries his best to be - and he seems more open minded to that than people I've observed whose approach to tuning looks from my angle like drunk people trying fight an out of control fire. What blows me away is so many people lack so much fundamental knowledge - they often see a few patterns without understanding, or trying to understand the underlying things which cause those patterns and try and apply them to everything they see without context and it results in bad advice and general "wisdom" being shared. We're all learning, guys. Don't jump on everyone who says something which doesn't agree with your preference, experience or what you think you know.
  19. That all makes sense, very nice result - always good to see threads like this updated after resolution, too
  20. Of course, I'll update as soon as I have any info to share. For what it's worth, with a flat boost curve it was building power until 7000rpm - the actual flow of the setup at boost levels we've tried so far has been good. I guess something which paints a picture of that, if you haven't thought about it already - notice the boost is dropping steadily from quite early yet power peaks and holds until redline? The power vs pressure ratio curve to pull that off is very solid, if nothing starts choking at the ~19psi we were hoping to get away with then the curve will look like a 45degree line or something haha
  21. OK - if you are aiming for the kind of power a turbo which makes full boost that late makes then the cams/no VCT discussion makes more sense. Again, was just doing my due diligence
