If you are talking crank hp - with a good setup and tuning you should be capable of getting just over 10hp per lb/min on BP98 and around 12hp per lb/min on E85... at least that is what I use when making thumb sucks of what to target. I think the GT28 hotside is a little weak for anything capable of flowing much over 40lb/min on under 20psi, so the difference in suitability between an HKS GT-RS and a GTX3067R on an RB25 may be bigger than you'd expect... I'd be far less quick to object to a GTX3067R on an RB25 than I would be an HKS GT-RS/GT2871R, not that it's saying much because as you now I am not a big fan of that combination Just hypothetically speaking of course. Would need to see some actual results, but I'd say it should be able to get in range on 270kw - depending on dyno, I'd have no issue with saying it'd be capable of hitting it on a hubber but it may struggle to go over 260kw on the harsher reading rolling road dynos on BP98. I'm guessing that such a turbo would feel wicked under foot on an RB25!
  2. An FP3076HTA is a lot of turbo for BP98 and stock exhaust manifold etc. Be sure that it's definitely the turbo that is holding you back in power, otherwise you could spend a lot of money and not get the kind of return you want... or expect.
  3. How does this WMI much compare to running E85? Decent power, response sounds good but that boost threshold sounds really disappointing... Like to be comparable with a T04Z at low rpm isn't flash, at all. I hope you end up finding a cause and fix as struggle to imagine that as being right. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

  5. I think the new Link+ family can do lambda. If the going rich moments aren't excessive and it will be on the dyno soon then don't fret too much, acceleration enrichment will get involved in that and you have to find a balance. Again, steady state tuning on a dyno makes life a crap load easier - if you can assume the base map is suited to the engine's efficiency with no other intervention then you can fine tune accel enrichment etc on a post-dyno road tune to get it looking and feeling right. I've used closed loop lambda corrections as an indicator for road tuning, too.

No you are reading it correctly - I was just being very polite as I don't want to get into a debate and I wasn't sure if you were questioning me (I'd have a lot more of the map closer to stoich, if not leaner at points) or questioning the AFR targets. Looking at that map I'd not be surprised if I were told it's a bit doughy and thirsty, though being DP is new to this software and practice and it's only an initial tune - it's not a the worst place for it to be, by a long shot. I've seen far far worse! We all have our own preferences and approaches, too. The trick with the Link is the actual AFRs aren't necessarily what are in the target table, plenty of people disregard that table completely - however I set up my fuel table as much as possible like a VE table and enable "Open Loop AFR" and make sure the AFR target table is a very reliable indication of what actually happens as it makes tuning way easier Without seeing the whole map etc it's hard to tell what to make of what DP has posted, considering I rely almost purely (or totally even) on the WG Duty table for my boost control yet that isn't attached. PS. Another tip, I tend to put up a graphic visualisation of the map so you can spot any lurking surprises in the map easily - 4500rpm, 120kpa in the ignition map as an example
  8. What do you mean, why? Sorry its not that rich for cruise, should have used "coast" to clearer - IMHO while not enough to make 10%+ difference in economy, it's pretty rich for just rolling around type load imho. I don't really go into the 13s until load starts building.
  9. The fact that Disco's target AFRs at cruise appear to be mid/high 13:1 could go a long way to explain some of the fuel economy woes if that is representative of what the tune is doing.

  12. So are you playing with timing just to get the timing dialled in nicely, or are you saying you expect it will affect the final AFR? And did you put any more consideration into the lower ethanol /flex fuel idea?

Agreed on GT-RS versus GT3076R (even 52trim) - never going to be comparable, and tuning won't get around that - the GT30 is going to have to be laggier, especially noticeable sub 3000rpm... but it'll be all worth it overall imho. DP - if you want to discuss anything Link/ViPEC wise then PM me, I don't really want to share stuff on the forum (sick of the BS) but I have wrestled them quite a bit... may be able to help point you in easier directions with things. A couple of things for sure (part of it just nodding at Dale's comments): 1) Don't bother playing with timing to target AFR, AFR is a mass ratio - timing doesn't change the mass. 2) AFR as logged isn't necessarily an instant representation of what is going on in the engine, there can be a slight lag - if you see a rich AFR on lift off/funny zones it can actually be from a fraction of a second before where you are seeing or plotting it to. The Link software can only put it against where it THINKS it relates to, you could spend a lot of time chasing your tail there. Steady state tuning low speed/load areas of the map on a dyno makes it a crapload easier to see the wood for the trees. Also, as mentioned before... there is stuff you just can't expect to or don't need to be too pedantic about - by tuning you are essentially forecasting and planning potential outcomes to the best of your ability and making sure everything operates within acceptable bounds. 3) Ignore the default Link/ViPEC boost table setup imho... not sure what they were on about there but I have never used TPS as an axis and have managed pretty solid boost control with Link's setup.
  14. Pretty sure your consumption will be on petrol - you need around 50% more fuel to achieve the same lambda on E85 than petrol, which might put that into perspective? Disco - I forget, don't you have a Link or something... now? If so, why not go flexfuel? 30-40% ethanol gives you a GOOD gain over petrol - like a reasonable percentage of the the different between petrol and E85, but you only end up using a comparatively negligable amount more fuel. Do most of your fill ups on petrol and occasional pour some eFlex in there if you don't want max thirstiness.
  15. Yeah, agreed - I was picturing somewhere between 5000-5500rpm... if it flows anywhere near Forced Performance's FP3794 HTA it is pretty acceptable considering how much power it'd be capable of. Fingers crossed for that 600kw

Have been waiting for these to emerge for a couple of years and agreed, a lot of the stuff Geoff has said and what has been posted do make them seem like they COULD fit into my little list of "magic turbos" that have an amazing balance of response vs power compared to other things in a similar range (shared with the likes of the FP3582HTA, Precision PT6466 CEA, etc). I too am counting on GT-RS-esque response, but until I have evidence to suggest otherwise my power expectation for it is maybe slightly higher than that of a cast wheel 56-trim GT3076R - which would be a great success if it achieves that. If they pump numbers out comparable (in peak power) to what a GTX3576R is capable of then I'll eat my hat. Even an EFR7670 can't do that (though I'd have an EFR7670 over a GTX3576R in a heart beat), and unless Borg Warner are intending of getting rid of their EFR7064 and EFR7670 and giving housing options that those other units had as well then there is nothing to suggest that it's going to be THAT good... which is hardly bagging it, so much as saying "Come back down to earth, Adrian"

Yep, thought it'd be worth seeing that to ponder on if nothing else - they're all on dragtimes.com for an R33 GTS25t Skyline, I put them in there years ago so I haven't just filtered out ones to prove a point. You are just dragging your own topic off topic, there are too many variables to consider and you will most definitely not be the only person here who has done enough drag racing to form opinions on patterns - it'll just turn into a flamefest. For what it's worth I've run everywhere from 12.6 to 13.5 with 1.9 to 2.5s 60ft times and trapped between 110-112mph for practically all of them (and launch was not the only thing that changed - tyre pressure, cleanness of gear shifts etc all were tested or perhaps not done as well as possible every time), I tended to see a bigger difference in trap speed when I missed a gear or hit a limiter than on a bad 60ft. Not saying this will be the same for everyone, just saying it's part of my experience. Here are a couple of time slip break downs from past runs from my car - two completely different events, I was ALWAYS in that speed range. Different tyres for the 12.6, same power. 0-60 Foot ET: 2.247 1/8 Mile ET: 8.849 1/8 Mile MPH: 87.240 1/4 Mile ET: 13.330 1/4 Mile MPH: 111.580 0-60 Foot ET: 1.906 1/8 Mile ET: 8.186 1/8 Mile MPH: 88.880 1/4 Mile ET: 12.634 1/4 Mile MPH: 111.300 I am sure with 600kw things might change a bit of course haha
