  1. Thanks very much guys, i have saved those links. Vicdrift is the place to go for drifting if anyone else is reading, they do require a CAMS half cage minimum though which will be great for the other events i intend to do. No doubt ill get into some grip days too, but i would like to have some decent brakes first (have z32 brakes, the good ones!). Although im used to having to stop 2 tonne (HSV), stopping 1 tonne will be quite different! Cheers, looking forward to having my car finished and getting out there and enjoying it.
  2. Fantastic mate thank you, wont be competing in anything like that. Just looking for track time and to have fun! Cheers
  3. Hey guys, future planning here (moving to Vic end of the year), was reading through the regulations and would like to confirm a few things with the guys that actually participate. Would an R32 with RB25 fall into class G as the RB25 is 2498CC? Is a stripped interior, however retaining hood lining and front door trims (not the little trims behind the door on a two door) ok as it only mentions removal of rear seat. It also says that roll cages are encouraged however is that another CAMS schedule that the cars need to comply with. For reference my 32 is not registered, RB25DET, no interior, suspension and brake mods (i did notice those are open) Cheers, hope the final rounds are fantastic for all involved
  4. Gday all, ill be moving to Vic at the end of the year and have near on just completed my drift/hill climb/ motorkhana 32. Whats the go to for these type of events, and whats the usual requirements for competing. All im looking for is track time and having fun, not door to door type stuff. With the drifting it seems like a CAMS approved half cage is required (Vicdrift), couldnt really find any other info or organisations that run drift events. Any info would be great, remembering my car is a non registered track car. Cheers
  5. Can anyone expand on the Vic drifting requirement for a cage? Is that only for the guys in the actual competition, not the guys just out there having fun. Or do they not run them on the same day, and there are different events for amateurs that just want to have some track time
  6. Gday everyone, Starting a long and slow search to find the perfect wheels for my R32 Skyline track car. Thought about starting this thread and everyone thats asks "will these wheels look good on my 32?"will have somewhere to go to compare wheels. Please post up pics with all the info about the wheels, somewhere to start Brand: Type: Width: Size: Offset: Dish: Fitment over brakes: Mods required to fit: Any other info relevent too. Cheers!
  7. I would love to get my 32 out after the rebuild, however i might not be in NSW due to work. I wont know until the start of October or maybe a little after. Ok to put my name down, however not pay? Or shall i just put my name down once i know, just didnt want to miss out.
  8. Hi mate, how many litres is the catch can and does it have all the fittings. Ill take it if its 3 litres and atmosphere vented
  9. Well time to update this, had a few things happen. The painted interior came up pritty well, up close its rough in places but still happy with it. Seats in, the Sparco provides a fantastic driving position and nice and snug Sheetmetal panel made for fake Defi gauges, oil pressure and temp Next was to remove the fuel tank to get rid of the old fuel. Replace the fuel pump with a Bosch 040 and chuck in a relay so it gets full voltage so the pump is working as best it can. When i pulled the pump out, found it already had a 040, win now have a spare. New wiring, and tidied up in the boot Next was have the intercooler piping made up. Came up really well Now that thats in, oil lines can be finished up. Had the lines re-sized by Pirtek, installed the cooler and filter relocation. Note the lines into the filter relocation, yeah they are around the wrong way. For future reference for anyone out there doing this, filters flow in through the middle and out through the side. Its the opposite when hooking a sandwich plate up to the block... more on that later. Also have the sensors for temp and pressure on the filter block. Was pushing to get it done (not the reason i hooked the lines up wrong, i thought i did it right), cheers Sydney weather Time to start...... started up, win..... Not so much. As i stated before i hooked up the oil pressure lines the wrong way and this was the result of no oil to the top end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPP2xh8lfjc&list=UUy6q31N1lw8UBpJ0XDcDI9w Thats what an RB25DET sounds like with no oil flow. Rectified the issue, went to restart the next day. Wouldnt start but was turning over, then it seized. Wonderful. All the while iam booked in for 3 days time with Jez to have the tune done. Wasnt lucky at all that my mistake would not cause too much damage, had the full force of a mistake come down on me! Also when taking out the spark plugs looks like there as something bouncing around hitting the plus. Could be a valve, not sure. So that leads to a phone call to Skyline parts for a bare long RB25DET series 2 block on Thursday, with pick up yesterday (Friday). Still stuck to my time line though, had organised with Jez (DVS tuning) to do the engine swap as well as the tune he will just keep it longer. So it now sits like this Arrived at Jez shop Wonderful day! bitter sweet feeling, was so close to getting the tune done and now it needs a new engine Now in place at the workshop to get the engine replaced, will give it a freshen up too whilst its out and easy. Jez will tune it nice and safe to be used all day long without issue. Just putting in a Nistune computer which will be enough for the current application. Looking forward to being able to drive it in anger, when i get it back only a few jobs to have done: Wheel alignment Corner weigh Hydraulic handbrake Fire extinguisher Will have it back in a month Been a month or so of up and downs, but what is done is done. Will be wrapped to have it back and usable.
  10. Take pitty on me and sell me a cheap motor http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/448229-wtb-rb25det-motor/ Thanks!
  11. Gday, looking to buy a RB25DET to replace mine which i have just seized. Need the long motor without manifolds. Located NSW and would like to buy ASAP, let me know what you have 0421845346 [email protected] or PM here. Thanks
  12. So lucky me engine is seized. Woulnt start this morning, then after trying to start it had the seized clunk sound. Upon taking out the spark plugs, the thread on number 6 (closest to the firewall) has had a big hit, number 4 has had a hit and number 1 the plug electrode has been pushed in. Guessing its the valves hitting them? So thrown valves or something! Would i get away with a top end rebuild only?
  13. Yep, had the lines to the filter relocation around the wrong way..... Ran for about 10 minutes like this before i turned it off...... Wonder how much damage ive done... sucks to be me!
  14. It must be oil delivery. Can anyone confirm this is right for my oil filter relocation and cooler block to sandwich plate outer, cooler in, cooler out, filter relocation plate inner, filter relocation plate outer, back to block sandwich plate inner Pulled the cooler lines off, plenty of oil, pulled the oil filter off, lack of oil! filled with oil then it started to rain so didnt turn it over again. Have i got my lines wrong! ive done it as what ive read and the arrows on the plates or would this mean the oil pump
  15. Same injectors however had them serviced and flow tested. Needed to lengthen the wiring when putting on the plenum too. The tuner will be pressure testing it on Saturday when its getting tuned, just wanted some ideas to ease my mind a bit!
  16. Sorry mate, meant fuel system, eg 040 and re-did the wiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPP2xh8lfjc&list=UUy6q31N1lw8UBpJ0XDcDI9w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX2gYtPeJfI&list=UUy6q31N1lw8UBpJ0XDcDI9w Its a loud tick. Not a miss a tick, similar to tappet noise or similar. Havent pressure tested the plenum and pipework no, i do know thats something i need to do. Was more focused on the tick to be honest!
  17. Gday guys, ive attached a video of the first start up after changing a few things including plenum and fuel. Any ideas? It needs a tune badly but im thinking the timing is off? Ive been working on it for months. Oil pressure seems fine, the relocated oil filter is getting hot meaning oil flow. Would love to hear your thoughts
  18. Is this a bolt in? Does it include everything needed? Last Q, is it CAMS spec?
  19. No thermostat in the oil lines, however do have oil pressure and temp gauges installed into the remote filter plate. Ill let it get up to operating temp before giving it any stick at all, hopefully all goes well. Thanks for all your help!
  20. Thanks for the help guys, have an idea how ill do it now More info on the air in the oil lines after relocation and cooler kit installed. Do you mean that the car shouldnt be driven hard until its at operating temp to ensure no air in the lines? Or that the air can not escape the lines so causes issues. Or even that there will always be air in the lines? For info ive installed it in this order block -> cooler -> filter -> back to block. Cheers
  21. Gday everyone, in the next few days ill be refilling all fluids in my engine (R32 with RB25DET series 2) after working on it for a few months. In this time ive also added a oil filter relocation and cooler kit. My question is, whats the best way to get all the fluids out to the external hoses, lines etc etc. Ive read theres a few different ways to do it Remove the plug from the CAS Remove a spark plug Remove a coil pack Hand wind the crank/pulley In those that have done it before, whats the best way to get all fluids out to the external parts of the lines/ engine before i actually start it? Cheers all (did a search and got the answers above, now out to you all as to which has worked the best!!)
