  1. Would you guys know if the issue may be related to fitting the rb25 OEM cooler to an rb30?
  2. I already tested for that issue. I turned the car off and let it sit for a day and then unscrewed my oil filter and it was still full of oil. Unfortunately that's not my issue
  3. Need an aftermarket gauge to tell you the exact pressure, but my oem gauge has similar readings to what I used to have before the rebuild. It seems as though issue is solely on startup but I do plan on getting a mechanical gauge thrown in to test...
  4. I built it myself with a mechanic over watching what I did. I don't recall missing anything and I'm not having any blowby issues.
  5. Oil: royal purple 10w:40Mods to engine: 40 thou forged Pistons and rods, crank with extended crank collar, n1 oil pump with standard gears, standard oil sump + pickup, cancelled VCT and grub screwed the feed. Additions to oil system: none at the moment - only thing I did was fit the stock rb25 oil cooler thing to the rb30. Not using an aftermarket oil pressure gauge... Using the shitty stock one at the moment. I know the stock gauge is inaccurate, but I know the light is accurate because once it turns off, the tappet noises quieten down.
  6. Yeh it didn't change at all.
  7. I got no idea. My rb25det didn't used to do that though... Plus i reckon it shortens the life of the engine!
  8. I'm using a k&n oil filter. I was originally using a ryco, I've replaced the oil and the filter. Hasn't made much of a difference to it.
  9. Hey guys, Recently finished my build and have only clocked about 1,000kms on the new motor. Having a small issue which has had me baffled for a few weeks now. My oil pressure light stays on when I start the car and is very lazy to build pressure. I think (on a cold morning) it takes upto 2 seconds for oil pressure to build up. I can also confirm that I hear the hydraulic lifters tapping loudly until the light turns off. Once the car is on, my oil pressure is fine. Starts off nice and high and reduces to a good level as the oil warms up. So to clarify, I have absolutely no oil pressure issues once the car is on and I'm driving. I've tried researching a lot and can't find any decent leads - I'd greatly appreciate if you guys could provide me with some advice on how to resolve this issue! I'm desperate for help as I'm leaning towards buying an oil accumulator to resolve this issue - i just don't want to blanket cover a deeper problem. Cheers guys!
  10. I think I cried. Twice.
  11. I recommend you attempt to build it at home... Machine work will cost $1000 and then all you gotta do is buy parts and put it together.
  12. Double post - sorry
  13. http://www.ls2rb.com/buy.html Goto that link for the supplier who makes them custom coil pack mounting brackets.
  14. Hey bud would you part with the hand controller and loom?
  15. I have a chopped up loom with has some stock plugs connected to it. Pm me if your interested
  16. Hey bud I got 5 Pistons, rods and rings in perfect condition. They are sitting in my rb25det... Pm me if you're interested
  17. Check engine number to know what engine model it is...
  18. That is 100% correct. Mine didn't fit at all after many attempts. I just went to an auto store and bought some o-rings!
  19. I attempted this for hours man and the piece of shit wouldn't come out... Snapped a bolt in there and then tried using a tap bit and even snapped that in there. That was the point I raged and decided to test it for myself...
  20. My head definitely a series 1 rb25det head... The engine builder had no idea what type of head he had, said it was a drop off from a few years ago. It's such a weird topic because sometimes it works out for people and sometimes it doesn't. I believe ultimately all people should check with an oil can. According to my engine builder guy, if the mod isn't needed then it shouldn't be done as the last thing an rb head needs is more oil to it!
  21. This photo shows the amount of oil that went through after 2 squirts! Guys also forgot to mention, that my mechanic who also builds engine had a spare rb25det head in his workshop and that head wouldn't allow oil to go through that passage when I attempted the same test! It is such a confusing, yet concerning matter!
  22. I pumped oil into the front feed and oil went though into the oil gallery. Refer to the photo, if you look closely you'll notice the oil. I was so confused because Ben managed to convince me that I needed to do that mod...
  23. Back on this discussion, I forgot to post my findings... I attempted to remove that brass fitting and the prick wouldn't come out. As a move of desperation, I bought an oil squirting bottle thingy and pumped oil down those two holes on the front journal and it pushed oil into the main oil gallery along the side of the head. Not sure why it worked but as I was able to prove to myself that oil traveled straight through, I decided not to modify that brass fitting! It's a very strange and debatable issue and I believe the best way to overcome it is to confirm using an oil can whether or not oil travels to that front cam journal. Thanks for the advice from all the guys on here...
  24. Where you located dude?
