fair enough, there a two sides to every story i suppose.. im sure they would have diagnosed it before removing it, but anyway they wont ever get the chance to as it seems. the problem with the automotive trade (im an auto sparky) is if you say a approximate price and its not what you think it is and it costs more your seen as the biggest ass. i know with every phone and counter enquiry that you have to allow a best and worst case senario. anyway, dont want to turn this into a bitch fight , im sorry your experiences havent been as postive as mine. best of luck with it all, there are many good mechanics that work on these things, i have also used chapman and chapman, and charlies motors and been happy with both.

considering they diagnosed the car from the street, they gave you the worst case senario which is dead engine, full rebuild. i had a similar problem on my car and i got gt auto to check the oil pressure on my gt-r, and wouldnt you know it, i had a dud oil pressure sender. they installed a mechanical gauge and all is good now.. now tell everyone, did they actually diagnose your car in their workshop??

stz automotive have parts for those, i saw 2 engines and a bare body shell there call 36304455 and ask for steve.

my gt-r has had 2 sets of turbos on it original engine( i bought it with dead turbos) the avcr was on 1.3 bar wheni got it. the car had done 130k at the time. ive traveled another 20kays, still going strong, still compression tests at 165 with 3 psi variation max,i really believe it will do 200kays with 270kw at the wheels!! i hope i havent jinked myself though.

theres 2 daves at gt auto.. give them a call and have a look at the set up they have. ive had a tune by dave before, no problems at all.

its not just to do with milleage although if there is a question mark next to the kays then you got to be sus.. the auction inspections are very thorough, they normally outline if there has been accident damage ect..

if your buying a car straight off an importer, ask to see the AUCTION sheet, which shows the millage of the car when it left japan. no sheet = no buy if you ask me.

I have seen this dyno, and a dyno dynamics unit in operation, some of the features that this machine has is very impressive! Would like to get a tune sometime soon, when the ducting is finished in the room.

pm jake32 on these forums, im sure he knows about this as he is a raws for 34 skyline.

make sure the carbon canster connections (behind the lhs front headlight) are on properly and the right way around, i had this problem in my gt-r.. try blocking them both off ( from the engine) to see if that lowers the idle.
