Maybe the gauge sender is different between the two motors, do you still have the original one around. Its the single wire sensor on the inlet manifold near the injectors, should have a blue with black trace wire attached to it.

Id also make sure your fuel system is in very good condition, injectors, fuel filter and pump. Maybe change the pump to something that will support more power for later on, for peace of mind.

Not that I have 34n1 (i have 33 type non bearing n1s, 32 gt-r) but my car feels like a slug on stock boost, a standard car would be faster. But the difference at 1.2 bar is amazing, wait till you get some boost into these turbos, you should make some serious power!

I actually feel very sorry... For the truck driver that had his day and probably quite a bit of his life changed forever by this wayward car hitting him. Imagine how he would feel being on the scene.

Extra Info: I have 3 x rb20det parts motors here. 1 is out of an a31, the other 2 are r32 type. 1 is very complete, with turbo and inlet manifolds, but suit rebuild due to siezed water pump. another is reasonably complete, has inlet manifold but no turbo, not too sure whats wrong with it. and another block and head assy, with sump but no manifolds or valve covers, presumably suit parts or repair. Before anyone asks there are no alternators, starters, ac compressors, power steer pumps, crank angle sensors, loom, ecu or ignitor boxes left on all of them. Thats a R33 loom and those wires are for knock sensors and cold air idle up valve and possibly something else. Should start with that disconnected, but i wouldnt drive it like that though, just in case. theres quite a few different plugs between r33 and 32. Id try and get a 32 loom.

looks like a nice tidy car. compression and leakdown test are your friends here, and maybe getting the oil pressure checked with some sort of mechanical gauge.. always buy on condition i believe! if it had a well looked after 32 motor or a thrashed out 34 motor, which would you prefer??

I have had a pfc tune done by GT Auto. Very happy with the results, car is a LOT smoother than the previous tune and using less fuel too. Knock levels are lower. Also got them to dial in the cams (tomei), picked up close to 20 more kw at all 4.
