  1. Yep, the do regular testing at events. Its been mentioned that Andra claim to have some of the most advanced fuel testing equipment around. They measure specific gravity, don't ask me any more then that as its not something i understand well
  2. i think what bozodos is refering to is the fact that CSR is using the WASTE from sugar cane. So no actual increase in production has occured as yet. Also no lose in food has occured. You have a point that there is potential issues when demand outways supply. Although countries like Brazil have been running it for a few years now and there supply out ways there local demand and are in the export market as well. Have a read --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_Brazil Australia is so 1990 ..... I can't see it being a big issue if australia ramps up its locally owned sugar cane industry and slows down is overseas owned oil drilling. We have entered another level of debate here though. Given that there is a steady supply available for drag racers at this point in time. I can see no issue.
  3. Mm about the same. Is cheaper, cleaner and more power not enough ?
  4. With your budget factor your only considering the race meet. Your forgetting drag racers are constantly fillding and chasing more tune/power. I don't think i have ever gone a gap between meets without changing something. So retune and race is around 60 litres for me on average. So $150 vs $600(sunoco) are my options. 6 meets a year = $3600 vs $900. Considering my entire budget for the season is $5k I pretty much go back to U98. Then there is the fact I often drive the car to workshops. At $10 / litre you don't have to go many km's before its cheaper to get a tow. Now on the environment side. Beside the chemicals factor. Your forgetting it a large portion of the fuel comes from renewable waste resource. Not oil companies ! Small introductions like this allow the industry behind to build infrastructure as the demand grows at a controllable pace. Its really more then our hip pocket its about the future of fuel !
  5. Nicely put Dirtgarage. I couldnt agree more ! Me too ! From what I am seeing someone (CSR perhaps) needs to go to ANDRA and pay to have the fuel approved. I understand the race fuel companies pay an annual levy. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but this is what I am getting from the documentation i can find. So sadly its looking like it will either need to be at so many bowsers that ANDRA no longer have a choice or a fuel seller will have to pay for it to be approved. Or miracle will happen and ANDRA will push it forward as a GREAT PR exercise to raise the profile of drag racing.
  6. Hi aaron, Thanks for your reply. Thats pretty much exactly what andra have said to me during my enquiries. I think its not clear under the current rules(3 states etc) whether it is allowed. Andra make it very clear it is not allowed. So I am willing to accept that. There is no reason(beside $$) why the V8 supercar fuel can be used as control. 'Other" motorsport facilities can and do use this as a standard. This will be an interesting one, as holden currently prototyping E85 vehicles for local and export markets. Also considering ANDRA allow deadly leaded fuels I am not sure how the fuel standards apply. I do relise that ANDRA take the fuel control very seriously. I believe there will be some strong resistance to this change. So I am planning to use the petition as supporting evidence to a rules submission. I am keen to follow the correct process. I am also finding the petition a great helper to racers jumping on E85 not relising that the fuel is banned by ANDRA. There have been many racers caught out by this and spent money wastefully. Sadly I am not the only one that has done this.
  7. Interesting. I would have thought E85 to make at least a little more power then the Sunoco. Have they given you any idea on what area's are increasing in wear ? piston rings ? bearings ? etc ?
  8. 20 % more power = 20% more wear ? I guess it depends what "normal" fuel they were on before and the power levels.
  9. maybe you need to harden up then and stop whining about lag and CLUTCH CLUTCH IT !! hehe. Ahh yer forgot about the broken box At the end of the day I reckon I agree with you. Big power isn;t really needed for drift. More time should be spent on car setup and driving skill (ps I have none) The GT30 will have plenty for sure.
  10. Hey Brockas There a few points around this discussion. Our setups are not apples and apples. As you have a china mani and t4 rear. So I would expect yours to be more laggy. One interesting thing we both have is the OS gearset ratios. Man they do make 1st n 2nd feel a bit laggy when your caught off boost. Remember we are talking drift(not track or drag) which neither of us have actually done. So I am using Bangers setup as an example. Its an RB25 and gt35 turbo and yer we both know he's one of the top level performers in perth. An rb26 would be better again ! Finally for track setup, yer I would use E85. Thats a whole new world again !! Hoping to one day soon, get my car on the no limits night. So find out for myself what you mean. Guess again it will be different though as my car is a lot lighter. I just need to get a sway bar fitted to my car lol.
  11. Cerbs is wrong ... as usual .. hehe If its PUMP the gt3076 it won't make 350rwkw ... lets see some TIME, WEIGHT AND MPH to back a car that has ? It its E85 far out run the GT35. If you understood E85 you would know why ..... oh wait you don't have a car tuned on E85 do you cerbs ? Just FYI b4 mods freak, having a friendly rib from one Simon to another ! You will get around 375rwkw depending on rail pressure and your chosen AFR. Agree 100 % Disagree 100 %
  12. http://www.unitedpetroleum.com.au/distribu...5-locations.asp Job done. Not good enough for Andra but Yep I have rail and injectors sitting here, along with a $1200 quote for fuel lines and the like. As mentioned menthanol is not street legal. Its also not as easy to maintain as E85 is. Not sure "how riled up" people are getting. Its just a petition to try and highlight to Andra that people are keen to use the fuel. Been speaking to a few ANDRA people were possible and hopefully will put in a rule submission change with the petition as supporting evidence. Might take a year but
  13. Yes you are correct that is what is says. I also read by that wording that E85 was allowed. But the fuel tech for ANDRA is very clear that it is not allowed. They believe it is not available at "enough" bowsers to quailify.
  14. Hi All, As you may or may not be aware ANDRA have banned E85 as Fuel acceptable for drag racing. Clicky --> http://www.gopetition.com.au/online/32119.html I urge you all to sign the petition. You never know when this might end up affecting you. If you don't think it will ever affect you then sign anyway and help out the environment and motorsport in one hit ! ...
  15. I have started a Petition for Andra to Allow E85. I urge all those on E85 to sign. You just never know when you might want to drag race your car !! http://www.gopetition.com.au/online/32119.html ...
  16. Some awesome fab work in there. Nicely done Robbie !
  17. In Case it hasn't already been mentioned. ANDRA have BANNED E85 as a competition fuel. Pretty crazy considering they allow 100% ethanol. I am chasing up the ANDRA fuel guy about it but having no luck.
  18. MMM. Re dyno graph. It says E85 and 12:1 AFR. Are you doing some sort of AFR scaling ? Isn't e85 tuned to 7-8's ?
  19. Next one. The V8 supercars aparently run E85 now. Anyone know what blend the control fuel is for the V8 Supercars ? 85 % ethanol + U98 / U91 /109 / etc etc ??? I been checking the regs but can't find any solid info.
  20. How long for ? Did you inspect the inside of the lines at any stage(split them open) ? The telfon coated lines are good but I have had them fail over time under race fuel. Quite an expensive to be replacing all the time too and really you need to replace them well before they fail.
  21. To point out I am yet to touch this e85 stuff so have been reading up, dangerous i know. So don't take below as me telling anyone anything .... In my reading standard fuel lines are not the best option. E85 will slowly eat out a rubber hose. Using a synthetic based hose it supposed to be the go. I have had problems with rubber and braided hoses over time with race fuels. So keen to not have the same issue with e85. I would expect E85 to be simular ? So if you were going to upgrade your fuel line material what would you step up to ?
  22. What fuel lines are you guys using for e85 ? Apologies if its answered on one of the 43 pages
  23. Cheers guys. Checked out a few of the places here. They are all very good. Its better then Perth thats for sure
  24. Righteo and they call WA dullsville ...... So you guys sit around all weekend in fear of getting bashed / car stolen ? Might try and score a cheap flight to Sydney / Canberra then.
