I have killed 2 rb20 boxes. box 1# the input shaft bacame worn and started to whine. I left it in and kept driving it untill I had a new box. Pulled it apart and the shaft had massive grooves worn into it. and bearings were still in good condition. Box 2# Lasted for 3 months and wend BANG in a big way. I was in second at mid range RPM, kiked the clutch in and let it back out at 6000 RPM. it gave a mighty crunch crunch BANG!!!! Once AGAIN!! input shaft was rooted and the 2nd gear was stripped and the case was full of crunchy metal bits. Both boxes were killed with a shade over 200rwkw the first was killed with normal driving on the street and the second was killed drifting on a dry track with crappy rear 225 tyres. The last box I put in I was very gentle with it.

hey canberra peoples. I have a huge chrome exhaust a recoon could live in and it looks rediculous. I want to replace it with the plainest looking exhaust possible. The whole system is 3" turbo back and flows well but the muffler is ugly. All I am looking for is a 3" straight thru muffler and would actually prefer it to be mild steel and plain black. Everywhere I have gone to has quoted me $300 for one because my car is an import and as we all know import drivers have unlimited supplies of money. So does anyone know where to go to get one fitted for a decent price? Or does anyone have a 3" muffler lying around they dont need anymore? thanks ACT dudes Was really keen for the meet up in a couple of weeks but I will be away that weekend.

New 040 Fuelpump = 120psi Fuel Pressure = Bad!
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I am afraid if i get another stock reg it will do the same thing. Also the reg I have at the moment is twin entry so an rb25 one will need to be teed into. I have already ordered one of the sard ones for $130. if it sucks I will cut it up into little pieces and set fire to it... -

thanks R31Nismod... I laugh every time I see your avatar I am thinking one of these sard regs will do the trick. I am not going to buy a malpassi as I have been told they are shit... Do these look genuine? seems like a really cheap price.SARD FPR -

New 040 Fuelpump = 120psi Fuel Pressure = Bad!
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks BHdave, you were on the money with one thing. I put the return line in a bucket and started the car. It flowed perfectly for 5 seconds and then nothing. the stopping of flow happend at exactly the same time as the guage went from 50psi to well over 100. So the reg is just locking shut about 5 seconds after the engine is started. 'd be a bit careful with that sort of high extreme pressure if one of the lines fails, shit will go bang big time with fuel going everywhere. off topic, what engine ? Yep there is no way I am even starting it again till I have replaced the reg. paulr33. The engine is a VG20DET with RB25 hiflowed turbo and methanol injection... and now a bloody rooted fuel reg -
Can anyone tell me where I can get a fuel pressure regulator urgently. super urgently!!! I am new to canberra and my standard reg just shat itself.

New 040 Fuelpump = 120psi Fuel Pressure = Bad!
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok, Bit of an update.... When you start the car it stays on 46pis for about 10 seconds and then WHAM~~~~~ in an instant the guage goes to well over 100 psi (off the reading) so I am thinking the reg can't hold the pressure of the pump and it shits itself. So I guess I need a new pressure regulator. Can anyone tell me where the hell I can get on in canberra today? Cheers!! -

I just drove the car and it is running so rich it will not accellerate under boost at all and clouds of black smoke come uot the exhaust. looks like the reg can not cope. Can I put a reg inline just after the fuel filter? will that fix the problem? -
OK. I have just fitted an 040 to my car and powered it vai direct feed from the battery using a relay to trigger the pump to turn on. The pump is in and working, providing fuel pressure and starting the car. The problem is the pressure. I have a fuel pressure guage that mesures fuel pressure right after the fuel filter. (the silver round thing in the picture at the top left on the line marked fuel supply) My standard pump was providing 38psi. the new bosch 040 is providing well over 100psi!!!!! OK so that is probably normal right? I am really worried that the enging is seeing 100psi fuel pressure. I started the car and black unburnt fuel is coming out the exhaust. If you look the engine photo you will see that the fuel pressure regulator is in the RETURN line going AWAY from the engine. The fuel supply line does not look like it goes to the reg at all. it goes under it somewhere and I think strairgt to the fuel rails. so it goes fuel supply>fuel rail>injectors>fuel pressure regulator>return to tank. I am really confused and need help. are my injectors getting 100psi fo pressure? They are hose and tail injectors and I don't want to even start the car with that kind of pressure.

Bosch 040 Intank Questions About Install
CEF11E replied to CEF11E's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
sounds good. Did you need to use a new tank seal? and where do you get one. also are the electrical contacts on the old pump the same? I just want to get everything I need before I pull the car apart. -
I just bought an 040 to replace my fuel pump and have some questions about the install. I know you cut the bottom of the standard bracket and clamp the pump to the side of the existing bracket with rubber inbetween to stop vibration. What I need to know is: do you need to use a filter with the 040 or is there a filter on the bottom of the pump underneath the mesh base? will can the existing fuel line fit over the fitting on the 040 and then be clamped on or do I need a screw fitting of some type? Can you get a pump assembly gasket from nissan? they said they only come in kits. If someone would be kind enough to list a "what you need" list. Also I spent 1/2 an hour digging thru "pump" bosch" 040" threads looking for a photo of one mounted on a bracket but couldn't find one and I was sure I had seen one here before. thankyou!

Rb26 Turbo Choice And Rebuild Options
CEF11E replied to A31cefiro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
have a look at the RB30 sticky at the top of the page. rebuild the bottom end stock using R31 new pistons and rings, bearings and VRS kit. just get them balanced and get the rods balanced. it will provide you with enough headroom to safely max out the N1's you will not even need a new strut brace due to the RB26 intake manifold being on the side:) goodluck with the rebuild...... mmmmmm sexual cefiro 3.0 power you are going to be beating off tha chix -
Rb26 Turbo Choice And Rebuild Options
CEF11E replied to A31cefiro's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Another vote for RB30 bottom end... Get a series 2 block from a R31skyline and rebuild it with standard internals. If you use a RB30ET you will have a lower CR. the rebuild will cost you $2000 once you have bolted the RB26 head on. Then bolt the N1 turbos on and you will have a super responsive 3 litre. you will even be able to run the standard ECU for run in and possibly for tuning. Don't bother rebuilding the 26 bottom end sell it and use the money to buy a RB30 bottom end. -

Was 6 Turbo's Topic Now Twin Turbo Ideas
CEF11E replied to 7yphon's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You are kidding right..... you want to put 6 turbos on an RB20? where exactly? 3 in the boot and 3 in the passanger seat? Even If you managed via some technical mastery to fit 6 turbos on the side of an rb20 it would not spool untill 9000+ rpm.... Perhaps you should buy yourself a bag of HKS sand and give the head a port and polish first... Here is a really good guide on doing it http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...74&hl=hks++sand -
